HYPOTHETICAL: Vince McMahon retires

Let's say that, tomorrow, Vince announces that on January 1, 2011 he will retire from all aspects from WWE. He will still own it, but will not do anything after that date, from business to creative.

What happens? Who takes over what? And when they take over, does the company's direction change?

Discuss what you think would happen if Vince left so abruptly.

steveweiser 10-20-2010 06:35 PM

As it stands now, i think with Shane off to do his own thing, Linda doesn't have the time what with her campaigning, so IMO it would fall down to Stephanie and of course The Game. I think i read somewhere that Hunter didnt want his children growing up seeing the attitude era so would be all for the current PG era, and as they say if it is working (and it is) then why change it, also with Hunter now getting the creative side and his own office :-) i think this could only be good for the future, he knows the business inside out and has the right business mind, so id say IF Vince stepped aside, hand it to Hunter and Steph, only good things can come of it.

Furious Beardsley 10-20-2010 06:43 PM

The company may falter a little bit, as in stock might drop for a short time.

But once the stock holders see that the ratings are holding steady, and possibly growing, they would invest into more of the company stock.

The logical step is that Steph and HHH get full control with Shane being out of the company for the time being. Who knows though, he could still come back someday.

Anyways, with those 2 in charge I think that the company would do pretty well, maybe even grow larger than what it already is.

I know that Hunter doesn't want his kids to see the Attitude Era, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't make the product 'edgier' and still be PG. Once they hit their teen years though, that could all change, and then they could get into something more similar to the Attitude Era. By then, Cena will be winding down his career more than likely and then I think wrestling will gradually revert back to having a primarily adult audience, so they could get away with much more.

BizarroKing 10-20-2010 06:54 PM

I have a feeling Vince is gonna stick around for a few years still. When he does finally retire, I'm pretty sure the game's getting the company.

Corporate CockSnogger 10-20-2010 06:56 PM

He will die before he retires.

Corporate CockSnogger 10-20-2010 06:57 PM

But hypothetically speaking, as others have said Steph and Trips would more than likely take over along with a board of directors of some sort.

erickman 10-20-2010 06:59 PM

i have said before when vince dies his company dies with him, but if he simi retires like you say he may be able to save it from trips and steph if they screw it up.

DLVH84 10-20-2010 07:05 PM

I'd say if Vince died, Triple H and Stephanie would start their own wrestling promotion.

Londoner 10-20-2010 07:14 PM

HHH/Steph woud take over.

You're abit stupid aren't you?

Lock Jaw 10-20-2010 07:26 PM

What will happen:

Next week Vince will change his mind and be all "OUTTA MY WAY, I'M BACK" and everyone will slink out of his way.

MoFo 10-20-2010 07:45 PM

WWE WOULD DIE

nah j/k HHH would run tings.

James Steele 10-20-2010 07:57 PM

Triple H is perfect for being the figure head of a PG sports entertainment company.

Is it just me or does Triple H have like the best smile ever?

Aguakate 10-20-2010 09:04 PM

Triple H has been face for like 4 years and I still don't get used to him smiling and being all happy.

Jordan 10-20-2010 09:07 PM

Well Vince is the reason WWE has been in business for so many years, if Stephanie or Shane don't takeover ... then it could over sooner than later. It would be more possible for a company to get an edge on WWE because Vince is so fucking competitive, who else is as intimidating and cut throat as he?

Joesgonnakillyou 10-20-2010 09:49 PM

This would never happen, but I'd fucking love it if Bret Hart took over.

Emperor Smeat 10-20-2010 09:53 PM

He probably would let Steph and Hunter run the company with full control for about a year as a test to see how the company does and if the company is still dong well, he officially backs away from the company. If the company struggles, he takes control back while setting up more people to run parts of the company so when he finally retires, he knows the company won't struggle badly again.

The company most likely keeps going with the Big Man and mat-based preferences since its known to work and both Steph and Hunter favor these styles. Shane probably would have mixed aspects of MMA or at least the parts that make MMA popular into the WWE since he wanted to change parts of the WWE style for years.

Writer quality probably stays bad since Steph was in charge of the writing team for years and the change into "Hollywood"/Nickelodeon writers. Probably less random changing since Vince has a bad habit of changing plans almost daily with no real direction or focus.

I'm not sure how things will be, but I would think that once Vince is gone and HHH is retired from the ring, Hunter will have a better appreciation for actual ability and what it's like to be one of the boys.

Rammsteinmad 10-21-2010 09:58 AM

Ten years ago who ever imagined that Triple H could one day be running the WWE? Crazy!

What about 15 years ago?

When he was that aristocrat in WCW.

Daaamn.

Aguakate 10-21-2010 02:57 PM

Who'd have thought that Triple H would be the last one to join The Kliq, would outlast all the other Kliq members in WWE, and would end up with more money, more world titles, and one day run the company?

THAT'S playing your cards, right.

THAT'S playing your cards, right.

It's also a little thing called marrying your way into the boss' family, marrying his daughter, and then sleeping your way to the top, at least to some degree.

That's what I meant by "playing your cards right".

Yeah, and before he left WCW, he was supposed to form a tag team with William Regal and have Sherri Martel as their valet.

Except for the whole part of him paying his dues and not winning a King of the Ring and getting thrown in pig shit because the rest of the Kliq left for WCW except for WWF Champion HBK and the fact he was fucking WWF Champion before he even knew Stephanie McMahon let alone started sliding his cock in her vagina. Please, spare us the spewing of the same old song and dance you piece of shit.

Tanawesome 10-22-2010 10:02 AM

Corner Offices for the rest of the Kliq!!

When Vince leaves the world will be a better place. Wrestlers will finally be able to wrestle again. Everything will be great in the industry. Vince is holding back progress in this business. The sooner he steps down, the sooner things start to improve.

Without Vince McMahon, wrestling would still be in dimly lit rodeo arenas and a Saturday afternoon gimmick.

That statement display similarities to the TNA view of things.

TNA&USA#1 10-22-2010 03:43 PM

It's great that it's 2010 and we're still judging Vince's worth based on stuff he did in the 1980s. Just great. He had his time. He doesn't have it anymore. He's hurting the business now. He needs to step aside.

MoFo 10-22-2010 03:46 PM

Because WWE was only great in the 80's, of course.

I know you're just trolling because you're still angry that you got banned, but please use what little intelligence you have to go look up the word "context," come back and re read these posts, and try to understand how context might apply to my reply to James Steele's post.

Until then, let the grown ups talk, little boy.

Volare 10-22-2010 05:09 PM

That's why he's earned positive rep lately and has been alright in the forums while you throw your little temper tantrums and still, no one gives two shits what you think.

TNA&USA#1 10-22-2010 05:56 PM

Yep clearly no one cares about me. That's why you're ignoring me right? That's why no one cares enough to talk about me even when I'm not here right?

This is typical. You trolls start stuff with me and then say it's my fault. All I did was give my fair, honest opinion. Did I attack anyone? No. I answered the thread's question.

But you're too busy trolling to care about any of the facts. You just want to get under people's skin. Well too bad. You failed. Next.
