PSP2
Sony finally reveals the PSP2 and basically confirms almost everything that had been leaked about the new handheld.
Dual analog sticks, bigger screen by about 1 inch, supposedly "HD" style graphics, and a touch pad on the back similar to a laptop mouse pad. There are huge problems though with the PSP2 that Sony might not be able to fix in time: Quote:

Might get a second generation one down the line. Never bothered with the PSP though.

Hi Sony, you forgot the main thing: Games.

I have a 2000 model but barely use it. Meh. Dunno about this.

Yeah, I just got a 3rd PSP after I seen what was coming out. After I finished Valkirya Chronicles 2, it was pretty much dullsville.

According to Sony, PSP2 will get rid of UMDs and the UMD drive which means no backwards compatibility and their goal is for "Xbox 360"-like graphics and power which explains why the handheld keeps overheating and has battery issues.
Most likely the handheld is going to be even more expensive than the PSPGo and game prices could rise to match the "HD" ability Sony is saying. http://kotaku.com/5675525/psp2-will-...yline=true&s=i |
In other words, they're being stupid again. The only thing they've done right with the handheld market was make FF7 available on the PSN for the PSP.

I think they actually believe that the PS3 model worked: Release the hardware at a high initial price for early adopters to try and create some type of desirability, then aim to lower the cost of manufacturing and price down the line to make sales pick up.
I would have hoped they learnt from the DS and Wii crushing them. Hell, people are kicking off about the 3DS Japanese price in case it gets converted to the west... |

Hell, I'd pay the Jap price, though. It's pretty much everything I want in a handheld.

I got my PSP dirt cheap and I enjoy it, but seriously, they're going apeshit with this. |
