Unusual Torrent Issue

Seems to me that since I've gotten a new modem, I've had an interesting issue where in whenever I attempt to download/upload torrents, I eventually lose the ability to access http/ftp. The torrent continues normally, as does IM or any other protocols I may be using. However, I'm unable to access "the web" or what have you. Google has been less than helpful with this issue. Any input?

For further info, I am using the following-

uTorrent
PeerBlock torrent IP filter
Windows Vista Home Basic SP2
Linksys WRT54G Router with DD-WRT Firmware
Motorola SB5101N Cable Modem

Yeah, I have this because my ISP that's run by my flat has a firewall that limits the amount of connections.

On your modem/router or whatever, do you have a firewall? Check the config page (usually http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 ) and turn the firewall off. If you can't see anything or don't have a config, go to utorrents settings and on the connection page, limit the number of connections uTorrent can use at once.

The latter option may slow down your down/uploads though.

Ah here we go. That's some sexy firmware:

That seemed promising, but didn't solve the problem. My router is of the 8MB RAM variety, so I am using the lower option.

To isolate the variable, I'm fairly certain that this is the first time I've used this router as a router and not a bridge since I switched to this firmware, so yeah.

I eventually solved the problem. I just had to keep lowering the amount of connections uTorrent allowed (far below what most guides suggested), eventually it worked out.

What client do you use.

Glad you got it working though CTS. May your torrenting be noble and just.

Ah, missed that. Are you sure your ports are open?
