What's the "best-travelling" team in football?
Was just thinking about this - the Steelers are always touted as being a team that has a large number of supporters at away games no matter where they play. Notre Dame similarly "travels well".
So, who's the "best-travelling" team in football? |
St. Patrick High School

Of course you posted this thread because you are from fucking Pittsburgh. The fans of every gay ass Pittsburgh team will "travel with the team" and bring their stupid towels with them wherever they go because they think it's obnoxious. Except the Pirates, because they suck.

Seriously. I would say any team that has had sustained success would obviously travel well. Obviously the Steelers will be one of those as they have been a very stable organization over the years. Other sports I would say The Yankees as much as they are hated travel well too for the same reasons. Lakers in NBA fit the same bill. |
It would only count for 2010 and only up to Week 10 but this is the total numbers so far for the NFL season: http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance
Best guess is any of the traditional big name teams and big market teams would have the most away fans at the moment. I know in MLB, Red Sox and Yankees usually are in the top 5 and for a while Red Sox used to have more fans at away games than at home. |
The Globetrotters of Harlem travel quite well out of the friendly confines of Harlem

I agree with Supreme. Steelers fans are dreadful.

So Steelers fans are allowed to talk about how great they are as much as they want, but we're only allowed to say they suck once? That seems pretty silly to me. |

So yes you are allowed to say Steelers fans suck, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it for sure, but asking don't start every single post with it ya know? |
Steelers are rapists and cunts. Big Ben should be in prison getting butt-fucked by that murderer Ray Lewis.
|
Steelers fans are definitely the most obnoxious and unknowledgeable of all. On the evolutionary chart of sports fans, they are the first step and can just barely hold their knuckles off the ground.

NFL football it's difficult because most good teams sell out making getting tickets for a visiting fan difficult and expensive.
My brother has season dolphin tickets and comments on how some games have more visiting fans then home fans... these games are usually North East teams, Jets, Giants, Pats, Steelers, a big reason for this of course is everyone from cold weather places likes to spend a weekend in a warm weather place... so i'm not sure how much is a diehard fan being combined with taking a little vacation. I know the Bears had a good turn out last night. The Red Sox play in such a small park it's easy to have a bigger attendance at away games like Anehiem which I think hold close to double what fenway does. That said, College Football especially "Tobacco Row" ie: ACC travel huge.... Florda, Florida State, NC State, Clemson... the restaurant I owned was near Boston College and got a huge turnout for football games... the busiest I ever saw was Clemson by far... |

In hockey it's the Leafs and Canadiens.

I actually started the thread because even though yes, I'm from Pittsburgh, I'm tired of hearing the commentators mention about the number of Steeler fans in the crowd, and was curious about what teams I might not get to see as often would have a much lesser "away-field disadvantage".
