Top 10 Survivor Series Moments

In honor of Survivor Series, which I believe is tonight, I am going to bring you my top 10 moments. I am going to do this off the top of my head as I am sitting here watching some football and decided to make this thread.

Please share some of your fav moments here as well

Count them down (10-2 will prob be in no specific order)

10) Survivor Series 1987:

Yes, that's right, the entire event. Important in wrestling history as McMahon ran this event the same night as Starrcade 87. And to be a dickhead, McMahon told the cable companies that if they didn't carry Survivor Series then they could not carry Mania. Of course most of the cable companies chose to carry Survivor Series. Also, on this night Hogan would face off with Andre for the first time since Mania 3.

9) Bad News Brown gives his teams the FU: Survivor Series 88 and 89

Before John Cena started giving his opponents the FU, Bad News did it twice at Survivor Series 88 and 89. No, it wasn't a move, Bad News actually walked out on both his teams after his team members accidently hit him. The crazy thing about it though was that after walking out on Honky Tonk's team in 1988, Honky once again picked Bad News to be on his team in 89

8) Kane debuts: Survivor Series 97

This was Kane's very first match in what would be become one hell of a career. Prior to the event, Kane went on a rampage and attacked everyone in his path. He eventually got a hold of Dude Love and chokeslammed him on the steel ramp. This brought Mankind back as he would attack Kane with a led pipe soon after (mark out moments for me). Mankind was the perfect first opponent for Kane because he was kind of a similar character and had a history with Taker. Kane would win the match.

7) Hit and Run on Stone Cold: Survivor Series 99

It was suppossed to be HHH vs Rock vs Austin for the belt, but before the match Mr. "I did it for the Rock" ran down Stone Cold putting his out of action for months. The culprit turned out to be Rikishi, but the mastermind behind it was none other then The Game, HHH.

6) Undertaker wins his first WWF Championship: Survivor Series 1991

Undertaker had made his official debut just one year prior at Survivor Series 90 and now had the chance to end Hulkamania for good. With a little assistance from the Nature Boy WOOOOO, Undertaker tombstoned Hogan on a chair and captured his first title.

5) WWE WINS THE WAR: Survivor Series 2001

The WWF vs WCW war had been over for quite some time already, but we'll call this the official end to everything. You'll know how this thing came to be. McMahon's team vs The Alliance. I think Angle was the one that turned on The Alliance and the WWF would put this feud to bed.

4) Undertaker debuts: Survivor Series 90

Wasn't going to put this one in, but you kind of have to. Important moment in history. Taker was a surprise partner for Ted Dibiase's Million $ Team. He dominated pretty much the whole time until he was counted out

3) HBK rises Again: Survivor Series 2002

Love this one. I seriously never thought I'd see HBK back in the WWF again after Mania 14, but 4 years later, he does the unthinkable and wins The WWF Title in the very first ever Elimination Chamber

2) The Rock joins the Corporation: Survivor Series 1998

The 2 hour movie event. This Survivor Series was a tournament style PPV. I am a big fan of tourneys and this one had a lot of twists and turns to keep it interesting. Shane McMahon turned heel on Austin and the end saw The Rock turn heel and win the WWF Championship. I love swerves in wrestling they were no better then on this PPV.

1) N/A

Loose Cannon 11-21-2010 03:43 PM

This was actually top 20 when I started, but got bored typing, so I made it top 10. I couldn't really think of any good moments post 2002, so feel free to post those especially if you can think of any

VSG 11-21-2010 03:44 PM

1) Team Austin vs Team Bischoff (2003) - The rise of Randy Orton

Triple Naitch 11-21-2010 03:46 PM

#2 is #1 for me.

This. :y:

CM Punk out-popping DX is a highlight for me. :D

Jeritron 11-21-2010 04:23 PM

The Rock joining the corporation was probably the greatest, but that unfolded over a whole night.
I think Shawn winning the title was a greater "moment", and the match was certainly way better than anything on Survivor Series 98.

Tough choice for me.

RiX1024 11-21-2010 04:25 PM

The Montreal Screwjob is the top moment because it changed WWE much and the character of Mr McMahon wouldn't exist.

Xero 11-21-2010 04:27 PM

The Screw Job has to be on any top ten list of Survivor Series moments. Not so much for the moment itself but the aftermath and its place in history.

Xero 11-21-2010 04:27 PM

And Rix beat me to it...

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-21-2010 04:30 PM

What about when Vickie Guerrero threw a shoe at CM Punk? That was lolz.

Jeritron 11-21-2010 04:31 PM

Hopefully Wade Barrett or Miz walk out with the title and you can ammend your list

Vastardikai 11-21-2010 04:34 PM

For me, #4 is #2.

#5 belongs on the honorable mention section or not at all.

Some randoms off the top of my head:

Heyman turning on Brock.
Bret's performance after Dean Hart died.
The 'Grand Finale' gimmick.
The 20 man tag.
"COME ON JEFF DAMMIT!"
HBK's performance in 2003.
Everything about Roddy's Rowdies promo before 1989, the chicken in the shower, the 'singing' etc.
Kurt Angle's switcharoo on Taker.

Heyman turn was very good. I honestly forgot about that

It's GOT to be "The Montreal Screwjob". Ever since 1997, whenever you mention "Survivor Series", that's what comes to the mind of most wrestling fans.

Second would be Undertaker's debut. Who knew what he'd become? At the time, it just seemed like a cheesy gimmick. Now he's a multi-time Champion, Future Hall of Famer, and the most respected guy in the WWE locker room.

I would also list Austin/Bret from Survivor Series '96. It was a dang good match and it also was like THE big feud for Austin after winning King of the ring earlier that year. And really propelled him even though he lost. Plus it was the Hitman's return.

Though I agree that the Chamber match was better than the matches at 98 there's no denying that they are two of the best Survivor Series ever. I didn't think the Chamber was the best match at 02 because I liked the tag titles and the cruiserweight title matches better.

That was Layla who for some reason was with William Regal at the time. It made zero sense as to why they were paired up.

Rammsteinmad 11-22-2010 11:52 AM

Coz they're British?
