Angle's You Suck Chant

I've been curious as to when people started chanting you suck during Angle's theme. Anyone know?

Edge showed Angle some pics of "good ol' times". When Kurt held them up to look at them, there were things written on the back. I think one of the last things it said was "I suck". I think he also made an Angle shirt that said "I suck" on it. There might have been a couple of more instances.

I think it kinda started when Edge was Heel with Christian and used Kazoos for peoples themes. For Angles theme the hummed "An-gle" after that I think the fans started you suck on their own

That was the feud when Angle got his head shaved. Considering how much he didn't want it shaved, I'm surprised it hasn't grown back 8 years later. :naughty:

I thought it started before No Way Out 2001 when he showed a video of him beating people up and the fans chanted 'you suck' along with the song.

Thank you everyone for clearing this up for me. Did Angle ever have issues with people doing this during his face turn?

I dont think he did because he would point to the ring when people started chanting it, to make it as if they were chanting you suck, to Angle's opponent.

It did get to the point where they had to change his theme to get rid of the chants.

do you guys remember the arena this all started at? for some reason i think it was at the TCC in Tucson Arizona..but the more i think about it, i think that was when the "you suck, what?' chants started. i know me and my friends started the what part in the arena that night, im not saying we were the reasons it started just curious on where exactly this started

when he was face, the commentators justified the chants by claiming that the fans were still chanting "you suck" to show respect for Kurt......

They shouldn't have had to justify the chants at all. Whether he was heel or face he got huge pops during his matches.

Pretty sure it was Jericho and not Edge who started it.

The Edge feud was in 2002 and the chants were there way before then.

DLVH84 should know the answer.

Ya I remember that. I think it was 2003 after he took some time off after WrestleMania. He returned as a babyface and I think in his first promo he talking about how he missed the "you suck" chants, so he got the crowd to chant it with him. May not have been 2003, may have been a return from another injury in another year.

Had some time to kill. Watched a few videos and just entrances. I started in 2001, and only got what some claim as the official birth of the chant from SmackDown Feb 22, 2001. It was the fans first time adding in "You Suck" to his music, as he replayed a video of him beating down Rock. It didn't really catch on, since by 03.19.2001 it wasn't being chanted and non of the videos I looked at after that in 2001 had chanting.

Then I got into 2002. I started with the RR and found the chant was already in place, so I just tracked back, and found that in Smackdown January 10, 2002 Madison Square Garden New York City, New York (figures) was were it caught on I guess you could say. The Raw and Smackdowns before the Jan 10, show had no chanting.

Well that was fun.

Do you have the videos or what match he came out for?

The You Suck chant started on the Raw in which HHH returned to MSG in January 2002. HHH was cutting his return promo, Angle interrupted and the crowd started chanting You Suck to his entrance music.
