What are some good PSone games?

Decided to start playing PSone games, but only know the really big games. I did play a lot of Tony Hawk and Twisted Metal, but my family and friends (and ex) primarily played the party machine known as the Nintendo 64.

I recently picked up Spider-Man, the first two Spyros, and Metal Gear Solid. I don't really like RPGs unless they're quirky like the Mario Ones (or just vastly different than Final Fantasy), but I'm open to any game recommendations of any genre.

ok................... GO!

Kapoutman 11-29-2010 12:21 PM

Devil Dice
Bushido Blade

ISS Pro Evolution 2, Smackdown 2, Tenchu, Reso 1/2/Nemesis, Chase the Express, Newman-Haas Racing (still the most fun I've ever had on a multiplayer racer)

Parasite Eve if you don't mind the most frustrating moment of your life at the end of the game.

Xenogears if you don't mind a slightly boring 20 hours or so before becomes amazing.

Syphon Filter

Gex: Enter the Gecko, might be more fun to play that with a friend though

I know you said you don't like Final Fantasy, but Tactics is "vastly different" from the main Final Fantasy series. And one of the most incredible games ever. It is pretty serious and the storyline is confusing though so it might not be your thing.

Other than what you've listed in your original post, I'd only add Jumping Flash. The PS1 has aged horribly, much worse than the primarily 2D Saturn or N64. Even then, the N64 only really has Nintendos own games holding up.

The first two Oddworld games are amazing.

I have a very small list of PS games to check out, but there really aren't that many. I'm pretty disappointed so far.

Incredible Crisis looks awesome though:

Bought my brother Incredible Crisis when it came out. It is a fun game.

Bish Bashi Special is great. It's tons of minigames. Really crazy and colourful and fun.
Skull Monkeys is fun as well.

El Fangel 11-29-2010 01:17 PM

Spyro, Driver 2, Medal of Honor, FF7, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 2, FF Tactics, Crash Bandicoot, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2

And if you have the $400 to shell out, Valkyrie Profile.

OssMan 11-29-2010 01:32 PM

Fuck Valkyrie Profile, it isn't that good. I think it's only like $70 now.

Fignuts 11-29-2010 01:43 PM

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Johnny McNasty 11-29-2010 01:46 PM

Dino Crisis. It was resident evil except with dinosaurs. Really about time for some kind of new dinosaur video game. Would kill for a decent jurassic park/big game hunter title.

Kris P Lettus 11-29-2010 02:30 PM

N2O
Wu Tang: Shaolin Styles

You know they rereleased it on the PSP as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, right?

Funky Fly 11-29-2010 04:19 PM

Oh, and Cool Boarders 2. OMG loved playing that game so much. BTW, if you have a PS3, 3457834587965 of these games mentioned are available for d/l on the PSN Store.

Cool King 11-29-2010 04:28 PM

Kula World/Roll Away
Crash Team Racing
The Destruction Derby Series
The Ape Escape Series
The Twisted Metal Series
Actua Golf (Seriously)
Battle Arena Toshinden 1 & 2

Majunior 11-29-2010 06:28 PM

Silent Hill.

Dorkchop 11-29-2010 06:49 PM

I started Spider-Man today. It's great, but movement and lack of camera control are annoying.

Gonna check out Fear Effect eventually.

Av ittt, the deck/board graphic designer was the most amazing/revolutionary thing this 13 year old had ever come across in a game.

RoXer 11-29-2010 07:11 PM

Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix

Drakul 11-29-2010 10:57 PM

"Tomba!" sometimes called "Tombi!". It's a platformer but with RPG elements like quests and level ups. It's insanely rare like Kula World. It's also really very expensive.
Seriously, seen it being sold new for £114 before and used for at least £70. Wish I had still had mine.

MediEval is a good game aswell, btw.
