Sweet Chin Music

I was watching some old PPV's today and got wondering.

Usually Shawn will hit Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere and win etc. I really can't remember a time he set up and hit it and won.

So when was the last time HBK tuned up the band and hit the Sweet Chin Music and won the match?

In the last Elimination Chamber he was in, he went to SCM Jericho, I think, he moved out of the way and HBK eliminated thr person he hit (cant remember who it was).

Yeah he seems to tune it up, and I've seen a number of times he misses but then immediately comes right back with a double reversal to hit the kick.

Xero 11-30-2010 12:28 PM

It is actually pretty rare for him to tune up the band full-on and hit it in PPV matches (I'm sure he's done it a lot on TV). He does do that stealth tuning up where he does it quietly behind the guy's back or whatever and blasts them for the win. He did that at Mania 12 for an example.

CSL 11-30-2010 02:21 PM

lol 'stealth tuning'

Disturbed316 11-30-2010 04:46 PM

Didn't he tune up at Mania 25 against Flair?

JimmyMess 11-30-2010 05:31 PM

No he was gonna, but then just stood in the corner. So technically he could have, but didn't?

I hate the whole prepping up before a finisher because it lets the opponent know what's coming. It annoys me. I know it's all an act, but it's just something little that annoys me. Especially HBK tuning up the band because he's stomping on the mat before performing the move to an opponent who knows nothing about the move coming. It hurts met deep down. In this day in age you'd think they would come up with something to replace it.

It is primarily to get the crowd involved. Quit being so fucking anal.

Next Big Thing 12-06-2010 10:09 AM

When was the term "Sweet Chin Music" first coined and who was Shawn's opponent when they called it that?

whiteyford 12-06-2010 01:13 PM

I always thought it was Mr perfect who came up with it, though i think im wrong.

ooTin 12-06-2010 01:38 PM

what is a "Sweet Chin" anyways?

The superkick is supposed to be to the opponent's chin and the sound of his foot cracking your chin is sweet music to his ears, thus "Sweet Chin Music".

I loved the double "fuck you" fingers before Austin would hit the Stunner....

That's about it for taunts before finishers. I guess Rude's hip swivel during the Rude Awakening was kinda cool too

SOCCER LEGS 12-12-2010 06:59 PM

on the subject, how do they make that "cracking" sound without him actually kicking them in the chin?

Xero 12-12-2010 07:02 PM

They slap their leg/ass.

Michaels doing it:
