So Noid..

I think it is definitely time that Yoshi gets a new look. Definitely think a "Ninja Assasin" or "Agent Zero" type of dude or something. I just think that since the WWE is turning things round now, why not go all out with it.

When the WWE was booming in the late '90s, it was because there was always a character for EVERYBODY. Stop with the typical "i'm cocky, i'm the man" heel or the "Cena-esqe" (i respect Cena for doing it) face. Different, fresh, new peoplek will do really good (and also show that HHH needs to freshen his up or people will be bored with the same old HHH) for the viewership and the company. JUST DO IT.

But yeeeaah

They should probably give him a look that involves him winning a match or series of matches.

The Jayman 12-09-2010 03:00 PM

or a stable with Yoshi, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Funaki as the Yakuza of WWE

Oh you said look, not book. Never mind.

James Steele 12-09-2010 03:36 PM

I agree. Triple H should turn heel and cave Cena's head in with a sledgehammer.

I thought you wanted to turn HHH heel. Doing that would cement him as a face.

Anybody Thrilla 12-09-2010 04:21 PM

Why does everybody turn to Noid for shit like this?

Ermaximus 12-09-2010 04:30 PM

Yoshi honestly lacks every bit of a gimmick. The only gimmick he's really had was his bowing "thank you" thing in ECW. The guy has talent and is a high paced performer like Evan Bourne. While a new gimmick could help him, the big question is what kind of gimmick do you give a guy like that? I mean the whole Asian cowboy thing has been done, as has the Yakuza esque thing.

Me personally, I'd like to see Yoshi become like Tajiri was years back when he worked for Regal. Put Yoshi as the sort of "errand boy" to whomever is revealed as the GM of Raw and have him fight for him and what have you. It couldn't really hurt.

Anybody Thrilla 12-09-2010 04:45 PM

I love how you say 'the whole Asian cowboy thing' like it's such a common gimmick.

Well they tried it, and it didn't work. Jimmy Wang Yang was more or less just a body on the roster. I can't honestly remember ever seeing him in a major fued or anything so I'm not sure if it was the gimmick or just Vince's dislike for cruiserweights?

Anybody Thrilla 12-09-2010 04:52 PM

I wouldn't say it didn't work. He was as over as he could get without ever being booked to win.

Anybody Thrilla 12-09-2010 04:53 PM

Also, that gimmick is pretty much Jimmy Yang for real. I've met him a few times.

MoFo 12-09-2010 04:55 PM

Hes a jobber, and theres nothing wrong with that. Keep him where he is.

The country gimmick? I would've never pegged him for being a cowboy, but that's pretty awesome I suppose. I liked him more in WCW as part of the Jung Dragons myself.

Anybody Thrilla 12-09-2010 05:10 PM

He grew up in Georgia, and he's into Nascar and country music.

The Jung Dragons was way more bad ass, though.

My idea for a gimmick for Evan Bourne and Yoshi Tatsu is a look somewhat like the Legion of Doom, only call them Air Kamikaze and have them wear jackets and similar tights.

Shadrick 12-10-2010 11:35 AM

Give Yoshi a suit. And ponytail. And only refer to him as "Tatsu" from now on. The arrogant, never smiling unless its a smarmy smile, heel. New music. Slow walk to the ring with a blazer draped over him *no Wade Barrett*. He's a good size, he could make that shit work.

EXCELLENT!!!

@ABT because Noid is da mang

Mr. Nerfect 12-11-2010 12:38 AM

I've wanted to see a serious Japanese character in the WWE for a long time, but I don't think the WWE takes it too seriously when they do it. See: Kyo Dai. Even Kaientai, when they were heels, were chopping pee-pees.

To be honest, I don't mind Yoshi Tatsu as a face. He just lacks direction. This is an easy solution for everyone, but a move to SmackDown! could do him good. Isn't the guy like a legit boxer or something? Play up that with vignettes and such. He doesn't need a "gimmick" beyond being some bad-ass from Japan who can hurt people in the ring but is respectable outside of the ring.

He's a guy that could actually benefit from being a Pro on NXT, too. It'd give him time to talk (if he can) and Tatsu training someone can go beyond mere words. The "cultural gap" could be an added challenge for him and whoever his rookie is. I wouldn't mind it if they brought up Kenny Li from developmental, and had Li talk about how of course they pair the two Asian guys together, while Yoshi is just like "Chill, man. Focus on actually wrestling."
