There's a thread for this somewhere...
LET'S MERGE IT, BABY |
Still no actual gameplay.
So is this basically X-Men Legends 3?
I won't get too excited until I see some gameplay footage.

SO can anyone name all of the silhouettes?
All of them? No, but I know I saw Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Surge.
Yeah, but can't be bothered to watch it again.
Pretty sure Magneto was in there too.
I'm looking forward to this, although not as blindly as I was for the last one.
Last one?
I meant Ultimate Alliance 2.
Except this has nothing to do with the Ultimate Alliance series?
Seemingly some of the silhouettes are the "new" character, so I doubt anyone will be able to name all of them. |
They better offer some nifty options. Doesn't have to be CoH or Champions but since they toying with the concept, they gotta step up.
Okay if that's the case then I'm probably wrong, on my first viewing I kinda thought I knew who they all were, on second viewing, maybe not so sure:
Cyclops, Emma Frost, Quicksilver, Pyro, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Surge, Colossus (okay, that my was first guess, but upon second viewing could be wrong), Marvel Girl, and okay, this one I don't know. On the first viewing I thought it was meant to be Hellion, but to be honest the powers seem nothing like Hellion. |

Most of the video game press is interpreting the trailers as hinting towards an RPG (maybe Mass Effect style) where you might get to create your own mutant. If this is the case I am so fucking sold

Hmm
Huge article in OXM with screenshots and everything. I will bullet point it on here, but not tonight. Tired and lazy.
Who's that tribal tattooed dude? I hope it's not an online RPG :-\
One of the selectable heroes, I guess. Looks like a fuckwit.
Definitely hope the new characters are customizable in appearance. I'm not to interested in playing as Randy Orton's cowboy cousin.
Ah hear voices in muh head...
Fuck I had heard it wasn't going to be custom characters and now that's what one of the 3 looks like? Ugly!
You choose their powerset.
And he looks like a fuckwit, because he is. His backstory is that he is the racist son of a purifier. All three characters have backstories, and apparently this game is being treated as canon by marvel. I'll tell you guys the rest later. Busy atm. |
Can't be worse than Rise of the Imperfects.
That's not saying much. The developer is on extremely thin ice with me after Too Human, I would like to see them return to form.
The game could be a literal piece of shit shaped like a dvd and still be better than ROTI
Yes it was terrible, but I wanna dig this game for it's merits. Not feeling it based on what I know.

Quote:
* The tone of the game is said to be "dark, mature, & intense" striving towards an adult feel, but a Mature rating is said to not be likely. * San Francisco is divided into human & non-human sectors as Professor X is dead. * The game starts with a peace rally being staged to pay tribute to Professor X, which is when you are prompted to pick one of three characters in the crowd. * OXM's Activision guide chose Adrian Luca as their character. * The game presents the player with frozen in time "decision moments", indicating its time for players to make a big choice. The first big choice in the game allows you to pick your power archetype ranging from being able to manipulate matter and your body mass, energy projection, or a third one that was kept a secret. * The game allows you to decide who is friend or foe in the X-Men universe. * Cyclops, Quicksilver, Surge, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, & Gambit are confirmed to make an appearance in the title, with plenty more to be announced. * X-Genes play a rather large role in the game, ranging from boss fights to deciding to give it to an X-Men, or someone else to form another alliance. * Linking together a good amount of attacks will fill up your "Mutant power" meter, allowing you to pull off even stronger special attacks. * One of the special attacks described as a part of the "Mutant power" meter was "Force Pillars". The attack was said to produce crowd clearing beams that rise from the ground. |
I hope they have compelling reasons to join the Brotherhood, rather than 'some players just wanna be evil'. Many games have morality systems that are nothing more than 'be golden or be a dick!'
Show me a mutant child being bullied where the only course seems to be use of violence to save him. Force me to protect myself against human oppressors. Show how hard it is for mutants who don't live in Xavier's lovely mansion. Show me a fair perspective of Magneto's main thesis. Morality shouldn't be based on incentives like 'evil points and powers vs good points and powers', they should mind fuck you. Few games actually made me sit there looking at two opposing options. The first major choice in Fable III comes to mind, as well as GTA4's 'guy hanging off the building' choice. This I wanna see, but what I'm reading is "Hey you can be fighting Sabretooth or Gambit cool!" |
Nah, in the preview, they said Gambit and Surge were on the brotherhood's side, because their purpose in this game is that they want to form an army to combat The Purifiers, and similar hate groups. X-men, I assume, want to take a more peaceful route.
So the Brotherhood isn't flat out evil in this, and in fact, some of the good guys even side with them. |
So it's either be good or good-ish naughty?
If this game allows me to be an X-man and kill Gambit, it'll be my fav game ever
