Kalyx triaD 12-12-2010 03:52 PM

There's a thread for this somewhere...

LET'S MERGE IT, BABY

Fignuts 12-12-2010 03:56 PM

Still no actual gameplay.

dronepool 12-12-2010 03:58 PM

So is this basically X-Men Legends 3?

Rammsteinmad 12-12-2010 03:58 PM

I won't get too excited until I see some gameplay footage.

No. New take.

Hanso Amore 12-12-2010 04:39 PM

SO can anyone name all of the silhouettes?

Funky Fly 12-13-2010 02:16 AM

All of them? No, but I know I saw Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Surge.

Rammsteinmad 12-13-2010 06:48 AM

Yeah, but can't be bothered to watch it again.

The Destroyer 12-13-2010 05:02 PM

Pretty sure Magneto was in there too.

DaveBrawl 12-13-2010 06:13 PM

I'm looking forward to this, although not as blindly as I was for the last one.

Kalyx triaD 12-13-2010 10:55 PM

Last one?

DaveBrawl 12-14-2010 12:07 AM

I meant Ultimate Alliance 2.

The Destroyer 12-14-2010 08:25 AM

Except this has nothing to do with the Ultimate Alliance series?

Seemingly some of the silhouettes are the "new" character, so I doubt anyone will be able to name all of them.

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2010 09:26 AM

They better offer some nifty options. Doesn't have to be CoH or Champions but since they toying with the concept, they gotta step up.

Rammsteinmad 12-14-2010 09:29 AM

Okay if that's the case then I'm probably wrong, on my first viewing I kinda thought I knew who they all were, on second viewing, maybe not so sure:

Cyclops, Emma Frost, Quicksilver, Pyro, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Surge, Colossus (okay, that my was first guess, but upon second viewing could be wrong), Marvel Girl, and okay, this one I don't know. On the first viewing I thought it was meant to be Hellion, but to be honest the powers seem nothing like Hellion.

Yeah I know it has nothing to do with the storyline, I just meant "last" in the order they were coming out.

Lara Emily 12-15-2010 02:25 AM

Most of the video game press is interpreting the trailers as hinting towards an RPG (maybe Mass Effect style) where you might get to create your own mutant. If this is the case I am so fucking sold

That makes the title make sense to me. It's our "destiny" to control the outcome or something.

Yup sounds like you can be X-Men or Brotherhood. I just really hope it is a Create mutant system that'd be so badass

Hmm

Fignuts 01-15-2011 03:32 AM

Huge article in OXM with screenshots and everything. I will bullet point it on here, but not tonight. Tired and lazy.

Not feeling it... Need some details on this.

dronepool 01-17-2011 09:19 PM

Who's that tribal tattooed dude? I hope it's not an online RPG :-\

Kalyx triaD 01-17-2011 09:54 PM

One of the selectable heroes, I guess. Looks like a fuckwit.

DaveBrawl 01-17-2011 09:58 PM

Definitely hope the new characters are customizable in appearance. I'm not to interested in playing as Randy Orton's cowboy cousin.

loopydate 01-17-2011 10:16 PM

Ah hear voices in muh head...

Lara Emily 01-17-2011 10:24 PM

Fuck I had heard it wasn't going to be custom characters and now that's what one of the 3 looks like? Ugly!

Fignuts 01-17-2011 10:47 PM

You choose their powerset.

And he looks like a fuckwit, because he is. His backstory is that he is the racist son of a purifier.

All three characters have backstories, and apparently this game is being treated as canon by marvel. I'll tell you guys the rest later. Busy atm.

Funky Fly 01-18-2011 01:32 AM

Can't be worse than Rise of the Imperfects.

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2011 01:46 AM

That's not saying much. The developer is on extremely thin ice with me after Too Human, I would like to see them return to form.

Funky Fly 01-18-2011 01:56 AM

The game could be a literal piece of shit shaped like a dvd and still be better than ROTI

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2011 02:05 AM

Yes it was terrible, but I wanna dig this game for it's merits. Not feeling it based on what I know.

illmatic 01-19-2011 12:11 PM

here are some tidbits from the xbox magazine article. It actuals sounds pretty cool being able to decide whether I want to side with the Brotherhood or X-Men and my choices deciding on who I work with and interact with. It sounds like you pick 1 of 3 mutants in the begining and then decide your mutant powers.

* The tone of the game is said to be "dark, mature, & intense" striving towards an adult feel, but a Mature rating is said to not be likely.
* San Francisco is divided into human & non-human sectors as Professor X is dead.
* The game starts with a peace rally being staged to pay tribute to Professor X, which is when you are prompted to pick one of three characters in the crowd.
* OXM's Activision guide chose Adrian Luca as their character.
* The game presents the player with frozen in time "decision moments", indicating its time for players to make a big choice. The first big choice in the game allows you to pick your power archetype ranging from being able to manipulate matter and your body mass, energy projection, or a third one that was kept a secret.
* The game allows you to decide who is friend or foe in the X-Men universe.
* Cyclops, Quicksilver, Surge, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, & Gambit are confirmed to make an appearance in the title, with plenty more to be announced.
* X-Genes play a rather large role in the game, ranging from boss fights to deciding to give it to an X-Men, or someone else to form another alliance.
* Linking together a good amount of attacks will fill up your "Mutant power" meter, allowing you to pull off even stronger special attacks.
* One of the special attacks described as a part of the "Mutant power" meter was "Force Pillars". The attack was said to produce crowd clearing beams that rise from the ground.

Kalyx triaD 01-19-2011 01:04 PM

I hope they have compelling reasons to join the Brotherhood, rather than 'some players just wanna be evil'. Many games have morality systems that are nothing more than 'be golden or be a dick!'

Show me a mutant child being bullied where the only course seems to be use of violence to save him. Force me to protect myself against human oppressors. Show how hard it is for mutants who don't live in Xavier's lovely mansion. Show me a fair perspective of Magneto's main thesis. Morality shouldn't be based on incentives like 'evil points and powers vs good points and powers', they should mind fuck you. Few games actually made me sit there looking at two opposing options. The first major choice in Fable III comes to mind, as well as GTA4's 'guy hanging off the building' choice.

This I wanna see, but what I'm reading is "Hey you can be fighting Sabretooth or Gambit cool!"

Fignuts 01-19-2011 03:13 PM

Nah, in the preview, they said Gambit and Surge were on the brotherhood's side, because their purpose in this game is that they want to form an army to combat The Purifiers, and similar hate groups. X-men, I assume, want to take a more peaceful route.

So the Brotherhood isn't flat out evil in this, and in fact, some of the good guys even side with them.

Kalyx triaD 01-19-2011 03:21 PM

So it's either be good or good-ish naughty?

Lara Emily 01-19-2011 08:40 PM

If this game allows me to be an X-man and kill Gambit, it'll be my fav game ever

Activision has revealed a new character from the upcoming video game X-Men: Destiny named Aimi Yoshida. The character is described as follows:

Character Bio: Aimi Yoshida
Age: 15
Height: 5’ 1’’
Weight: 95lbs

Character Description
Balance Summary: Small in size but strong in mental focus, Aimi is the mutant ability expert. She specializes in efficient mutant power usage. Aimi’s fighting style is very acrobatic and graceful.

Back story: Smuggled out of Japan by her mutant parents before the entire family could be rounded up and incarcerated in the new mutant camps, Aimi arrives in San Francisco hidden on a tanker ship. She is too young and frightened to appreciate her parents’ motivations for sending her away, and instead feels only the bitterness and anger of abandonment.

A new breed of mutant heroes will invade game consoles this fall in X-Men: Destiny. The all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny. For more information on X-Men: Destiny head to the game's official website.
