________'s Best Match

_______________'s best match and why.....

First up: CM PUNK IN WWE.

Mr. Pierre 12-16-2010 09:26 PM

CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy (c) - TLC - Summerslam 2009

I just felt that everything was perfect about the match. It told a great story with some memorable spots, and had a very basic but yet effective ending. Even Punk's performance in the post-match with Undertaker was great. :y:

Between Hardy Summerslam and the Hardy cage match.

Not seen this before but what a fucking dick move. I wonder if this will lead to some people talking of Punk the way they do about Orton in regards to unprofessional-ism and throwing hissy fits when something goes wrong. He could have paralysed Burke at the end of that.

'k Punk sux. His best match was the Rumble, only for his godly promos. Nobody cares about his matches.

I'll attempt to put this thread back on track by saying that his first Championship win against John Morrison on ECW was amazing. I definitely think that was his best match as a babyface.

It would have been more memorable if it was on PPV with proper build instead of hot-shotting it due to Morrison's suspension.

That it's still memorable to you (and others) without that proper build speaks volumes, though.

Sorry, but the "fill in the blank" led me to believe that people will take turns mentioning so and so's best match, and then move on to another wrestler once their done

Hence the "fill in the blank". If it was strictly a CM Punk best match thread, there would be no need for the "fill in the blank"

carry on. Let's keep this about CM Punk

Up next: Owen Hart

Indifferent Clox 12-16-2010 10:40 PM

Punk was the veteran and elijah burke kept fucking up. That's what a veteran does when you keep fucking up over and over again in a big match, especially when punk worked years to get to wwe and burke worked a lot less, obviously.

Lock Jaw 12-16-2010 10:44 PM

It was probably against Chris Jericho or something.

What the fuck are you talking about? There was mis-communication, neither had a clue what was supposed to be happening by the looks of it, they got lost/their wires crossed, that shit happens 'in the ring'. That is not at all 'what a veteran does when you keep fucking up'. Take a headlock, kick him in the gut, tell the other guy what to do, just about anything but send him over your shoulder by pushing off his thighs and potentially dropping him on his head. Good god. The fact you have apparently had some kind of training is staggering. You quite literally disgust me at times with the shit you come out with and the sad part is guys like you are ten a fucking penny.

I dunno. Looks like he told him to take some sort of suplex and burke did not take the bump right. You do know that the dude jumped for it.

No, he didn't. He just didn't sandbag him because he's being co-operative. It's easy as fuck to get a guy over your head with leverage from their thighs and a tiny bit of momentum, hence back body drops. Burke is athletic, he'd have gone up and over clean if he'd have jumped with Punk pushing off.

Schlomey Rates .. THOSE MATCHES IN JUAN'S LINK

1. Punk vs Jericho - RAW - 3/31/08
The night after Punk beat Jericho in MITB at WM24. HOT crowd with a great mixed reaction. Above average TV match. Best part was def. the finish but the whole match was good and I especially liked the top rope springboard move Punk did on Jericho..

Rating - 7 out of 10

2. Punk vs Jericho - RAW - King of the Ring Qualifier - 4/21/08
I expected this one to be a real clinic. A month after their HOT match above I really figured it would be a clean house pleaser. However, it was botchy, spotty & the crowd was dead for most of the match. They both had an off night here and probably didn't have many spots planned out in advance and it showed in the work.

Rating - 4/10

3. Punk vs Jericho - RAW - 8/18/08
What a difference a few months make. Jericho is now full on heel with Lance Cade in tow and Punk is now the World Heavyweight Championship. This match was an "Adamle Original". Hometown boy CM Punk had the crowd hot. Punk was ON FIRE in this match and used some very clever submission moves. This is by far their best so far. Also, JERICHO HITS THE LIONSAULT. Possibly a few too many rest holds but still to be considered the best SO FAR.

Rating: 8/10

4. Punk vs Jericho - RAW -Race For The Ruble - 12/22/08
So far EVERY match they have gets longer and longer. Ranges from 7 then 8 then 13 and now to 15 minutes! Ok the last match was at Punks pace as it was in Chicago and you can tell this one is at Jericho's pace as its in Canada. The match is equally as impressive but at a slower pace. Best part about this one is the finish. Punk goes for the top rope dive and gets caught in the Code Breaker. Sick.

Rating: 8/10

5. Punk vs Jericho - Elimination Chamber Qualifier - RAW - 1/26/09
Punk is the IC champ in this one while Jericho is still just a Rudo. Solid match and was awesome to see a Punk Hurricanrana off the top rope. Code Breaker was botched but it was a cool reversal spot anyways.

Rating: 6/10

6. Punk vs Jericho - Superstars - 5/21/09
These 2 on Superstars? Must have been right at the shows beginning when they still featured top guys. Another top notch match that shows their best moves, a couple new spots including a top rope cross body from Punk that looked pretty. Nice back and forth match with close 2 pins..Kept my attention even after watching 6 straight matches. Best overall match and def. the best finish so far.

Rating: 9/10

7. Punk vs Jericho - Smackdown - 6/12/09
Kinda boring. I mean it had the same spots as the other matches, loads of reversals and loads of rest holds and ground attacks. If I hadn't watched 6 other matches right before this one I would have loved it but the point of all this is to find the best one of their series and this would not be it....Just felt "called in".

Rating: 6/10

The matches these 2 have had are great. They really should have given them an actual feud to go along with the amazing wrestling. I will put Jericho's WRESTLING above Hardy's any day but the storyline and match content still outweighs the ones listed above...

The best Jericho vs Punk match was the one from Superstars back in 2009 but that still isn't quite as fulfilling as Punk vs Hardy.

I always like Punks IC title match against William Regal. I think it was no disqualification but instead of using weapons they just worked super stiff the entire time.

CM Punk: vs Jeff Hardy (Summerslam 09)...well the ones I've seen

The Rock: vs Triple H (Summerslam 98) still underrated in my books.

Owen Hart: vs Bret Hart (Wrestlemania X) and vs British Bulldog (RAW in Germany 97) both great matches IMO.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-17-2010 05:37 AM

Brian Wash's best match was with Shawn Michaels on the 4th jan 1994 edition of Raw.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-17-2010 05:37 AM

Thought I best get that in there before Brian inevitably comes up.
