Hold on. *Possible Wrestlemania spoiler*
Quote:
Really? Pretty awesome if there's any truth to it, but not what I was expecting at all. |
Nice.
|
Cena and Punk will have an awesome match if it's given time/a good storyline, which given it being Cena and Wrestlemania season, it certainly would.
|
This is cool if it comes to pass.
|
Punk deserves to have a LONG and EMOTIONAL Wrestlemania match after kicking ass in 2 Money In The Banks and dealing with a measily 7 minutes with Mysterio this past year. I am all for this to happen but since it has started early I bet it won't make it to Mania :/
|
I have a feeling that this would center around the same kind of conflict that Michaels/Jericho had a while back.
Punk accusing Cena of actually being a bad guy, and trying to expose him at all costs. It would be another amazing way to build up any eventual turn. |
Maybe there are still plans involving Orton, and Punk will be the instigator between the two faces.
Hmm |
That's pretty cool. So if there's plans for Punk/Cena, then that logically means they aren't planning for Taker/Cena. And I'm sure they have the Taker plans out already.

Plans seem to involve Barrett. There was the Lesnar offer too, which I'm sure would shoot to Plan A if he accepted. Doubtful though, which is why they definitely planted the seed for Taker/Barrett at SS. |
I think Cena turning heel is officially off the table unless he's facing Orton or Taker.
They could concievably still keep the Orton feud kindling, though, with a Punk feud building towards it. They could also plant more seeds for Punk/Danielson, and then pull the switcharoo after Elimination Chamber, and have both matchups still happen. Who knows. |

I'm not saying it was planned, but any possibility would likely have come in one of those matches, at this time of year.
It's certainly seemed more likely in recent months than it ever has. |

If all goes well, this should solidify Punk as one of the top names in the company. |
It would be really awesome to see them take that really intense approach with the storyline, which they do every year around Mania.
They could really ham up the sXe thing to heights they just don't have time for in the midcard. Like him interfering in Cena's life, etc. The really urgent stuff they only pull this time of year. |
I hate to use the word, but epic promos
|
This is Kane/Chris Jericho with coffee all over again. John Cena will learn that you don't spill CM Punk's Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi when attacking the Nexus!

...you know, in their effort to have Cena as big as Austin and them. |
I hope they can stretch it to Mania, but I doubt it will.

Didn't the Punk/Mysterio feud stretch out for like 4 months? I'm sure they can do it with these two.
|
Also, Mysterio and Del Rio have been feuding since, what, August?
|
It's not really hard to stretch a January feud into Mania. They will both be in the Rumble match, and probably the Elimination Chamber.
So it's not like they'll be exhausting the one-on-one matchup until Wrestlemania, if they do this. It will probably be built around mind games and a lot of promos, so the longer the build the better really. |
If this is actually true....
I would rather have seen them wait a month and START the build the night the road to Wrestlemania starts. I would keep CM Punk behind the RAW desk making digs at Cena as he started to do this past week. I would build John Cena up to win the Royal Rumble only to have Punk leave the announce table and toss Cena out. The visual of Cena's "shocked monkey" face standing at ringside and CM Punks shit eating grin as he is walking backwards slowly up the ramp would HAVE FUCKING KILLED IT. Kind of a shame. |

After CM Punk cutting a promo as he eliminated guys from the Rumble this year, the natural next step, since he already is doing play by play, is have him eliminate guys, go to the table, do play by play, get back in the ring, and so on and so forth. That's what I'd do, anyway. |
I meant Punk will be in a suit and doing his announcer job...just slowly get up from the desk out of NOWHERE and toss out Cena. The kiddies faces would be priceless and SHOCKED.

CM Punk is often given creative freedom with his programs. If this is the case, then I truly hope he impresses us (as I expect he will). I've always wanted to see Punk try to guilt Cena into spreading his message because Cena is a "company guy." Faces often cop-out with the "freedom of choice" thing, but none of them take being a role model as seriously as John Cena.
But I trust Punk to do something new and interesting with Cena. I haven't seen TLC or RAW, but apparently Punk has been taking Cena to task for using the force he did with Wade Barrett? It seems Punk is taking a higher moral "two wrongs don't make a right" approach, which could be intensely interesting. I love it when heels have a good point. Punk working with Cena has always been a "dream" for me, because Cena has the goods, but he seems to work with safe writing a lot of the time. The dynamic of having the freedom of a program with CM Punk could give us new angles to John Cena -- if it is allowed such freedom. One good thing about the Elimination Chamber PPV, is that it logically allows feuds to stretch out. The two can meet in the Royal Rumble, Punk can toss out Cena; they can then meet in the Elimination Chamber, and Cena can eliminate Punk. They still have the one-on-one blow-off. So many of the things mentioned have got so much potential in a story between the two: * CM Punk spraying down Cena with diet soda would be absolutely amazing, and you know it. * If Punk cuts an emotional promo where he believed Cena was a good guy even when the rest of the world turned their back on him, and shows the evidence of him being in Cena's entourage in his hometown of Chicago at WrestleMania 22 -- I would absolutely jizz myself. * Punk could dig into footage of all the horrible things Cena has done in the past: his rapping and philandering with a married Stephanie McMahon on his early SmackDown! days; his ruthless beatings on a one-armed Carlito; giving an Attitude Adjustment to Todd Grisham; him putting Chris Jericho into a garbage truck; etc. If Punk is allowed to, I could imagine him putting such great scrutiny on the past of John Cena. The other thing about this that makes me optimistic is that Punk vs. Cena means we won't get Cena vs. Orton. Fucking yay. |

Perhaps CM Punk will start calling Cena a fraud of a hero for the beating he gave Barrett after the match, then CM Punk would start advertising himself as the true "straight edge" hero Raw needs.
I learned the hard way that Cena will never ever turn heel, but this is just another great opportunity.... |

you learned the hard way?

...WWE needs to have another Rumble where the WWE title is vacant and the winner becomes Champion, BTW.

I don't get why anyone would hate Punk, other than the "it's cool to hate on indy wrestlers" attitude that seems to have a decent size voice on these forums. He always delivers on the mic, and his matches are pretty great too. He's no Shawn Micheals, or Ricky Steamboat, but he consistently delivers quality matches and promos. No idea why he gets so much hate on here.
