If Reese were never sent back, there would have never been a John Connor.
Reese wouldn't have gone back had Skynet not sent a T-800 back.
So in a sense, Skynet created Connor.

How could Skynet kill its enemy if the enemy didn't exist until Skynet used time travel to prevent his birth and consequently create an enemy who they didnt know to kill because he didnt exist?

All I can think is that Sarah was pregnant prior to meeting Reese...it's the only way it can make any sense...

No. Reese got her pregnant. It's just a paradox. It's time loop. It means there is no such thing as a beginning and end of time on a linear scale as we percieve it. It's all relative.
The loop completes itself. It's chicken or the egg, really.

Its hard to wrap my head around it that Connor wasnt created until Skynet sent Arnie back to prevent his birth.

I have a feeling this thread is gonna end up being ridiculous.

It doesn't make any sense if you view it in a linear way, as we normally do with time. You're not really missing anything, other than that it's a self-completing loop with no real beginning or end. It all hinges on the idea that time is relative. If you want to understand more about that, there's plenty to check out.

One of my friends asked me about this. All I could say was that theres an ihfinite loop and that there is only one way for time to go...but I couldnt explain it better, which lead to my confusion.

Still think the weird part it that John could watch his dad being born (providing he knew where it was happening like)

It's fucked up to think about, but it's also what gives the Terminator films one of the most interesting storylines out there.

a while back there was a terminator thread and i was convinced that it was mentioned that 2029 was the year of darkness yet everyone thought i was full of shit, and i looked all over the place to try and find out. anyway like 3 months later i looked up at the terminator poster on my wall:

The thing you dont get is the allure of the story. It was meant to be this "WHAT THE FUCK" thing no one could get.

As t he movie passed, they started doing this thing where the future changed, but it was always destiny

My theory on this is that. Even if Reeves was never sent through time John would have still been born, Reeves changed that time line by interacting with Sarah. Saving her life that's why they fell in love etc The moment that happened a time line was changed.

Timeline A: Sarah gives birth to John, And John is still the leader of the resistance fighting the machines.

Timeline B: John Sends Reeves back in time, to protect Sarah.Reeves and Sarah
both Fall in Love and have sex. John is Born.

John has no idea who his father is. This is why Sarah never tells John the full story on is father. Because
if she told him, John would not send Reeves back in time. As Sarah also explains in T2 or T3 not sure which.

Your theory would be acceptable, except that John sent Reese back in time because he was his father. As already mentioned, it's just a chicken/egg situation.

Skynet stole time-travel technology from Rufus's phone booth. It was most heinous.

Worst thing they did since using Murphy's head as the central processor for Skynet.

IF they usede MUrphy they wouldnt have taken over the world.

They used Caine.
