Brock Lesnar wants out of UFC and back in WWE...?

According to Dave Melzer of the Wrestling Observer, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is trying to get out of his UFC contract, which currently has one fight remaining on it. Lesnar reportedly wants to work WWE's WrestleMania 27 pay-per-view in Atlanta next year and has been talking with WWE officials about how the deal can be done.

In what sounds like a very telling piece of information, Brock Lesnar has not talked with anyone from UFC or answered Dana White's phone calls since losing the UFC Heavyweight Title to Cain Velasquez last month. Sources also say that Lesnar hasn't began to prepare for his next UFC fight and hasn't trained since losing to Velasquez.

It's said that Lesnar has lost some interest in MMA and has been been re-considering his future in the sport after his devestating loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 and the beating he took in the win against Shane Carwin before that.

According to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo Sports, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is looking for an "exit strategy" to get out of his UFC contract, which most believe currently has one fight left on it. Lesnar "badly" wants to work WWE's WrestleMania 27 pay-per-view in Atlanta next year.

The MMA world has been buzzing about this story since Dave Melzer broke the news on Monday night. Meltzer said on his radio show that the fight with Velasquez has changed Brock's attitude on fighting and he is at the stage in his life where he doesn't want to get injured. He's very well off financially and the business man in him apparently knows that it may be time to move on.

Lesnar has been hunting and hasn't even thought about his next fight. Lesnar apparently wants to do WrestleMania "badly" and will earn an estimated $2 million dollars for 30 minutes of work.

Its widely known that Lesnar was miserable with WWE's brutal travel schedule and vowed to never be on the road with WWE 200 days a year again. With the mainstream success he's had in the UFC and the insane drawing power he's displayed during his time there, he could make a truckload of money working WrestleMania and a few other limited appearances.

Seems suspicious..

"Lots of crazy rumors floating around the MMA message boards about Brock Lesnar these days. Some fans feel that Lesnar is looking to leave UFC and return to WWE. That decision would floor me. It doesn't seem to make sense at this time for Lesnar to leave UFC as there is too much Octagon money on the table for Brock to walk away at this time. I just can't see the athletic freak going back on the WWE road for any significant length of time especially with young children at home and Brock being most comfortable when he is in the Minnesota woods enjoying family life and hunting. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I would embrace a Lesnar return to WWE and it 'might' happen on a sporadic basis some day but not any time soon."

Supreme Olajuwon 12-28-2010 03:23 PM

I support this.

Splaya 12-28-2010 03:29 PM

If he wants to come back I am all for it. It was rumored for the longest time that it was going to be Punk V Taker at Mania, or Barrett V Taker at Mania. Now with all this going on, I would shit myself if Lesnar showed up on SD demanding to face Taker at Mania in March

McLegend 12-28-2010 03:30 PM

If this is true Brock is a wuss a pussy or whatever you want to call him.

Everytime it gets tough for him he quits.

Nightwing 12-28-2010 03:39 PM

Im all for him wrestling at Mania, but it does seem whenever it gets tough, he bails.

Lock Jaw 12-28-2010 03:42 PM

Would his penis-sword tattoo have to be blurred out, though?

Nightwing 12-28-2010 03:43 PM

I would think so. His chest is not PG anymore.

Londoner 12-28-2010 03:51 PM

Would fuckin love it if this happens. He's just what WWE needs right now.

Nightwing 12-28-2010 03:54 PM

Lesnar coming back would be so huge. I dont even wanna think about it on the chance that this doesnt happen.

They need a three-time quitter? Quit WWE, Quit the NFL and now allegedly UFC. I think Brock just wants to have Dana White allow him to compete at Wrestlemania as a joint-venture.

Maybe also have one or two UFC matches on the card including Taker vs. Brock.

Cool King 12-28-2010 03:56 PM

I would love to see Lesnar back in the WWE.

Undertaker is too old for MMA, he even said it himself.

If he was to get into MMA, he said it would only be as a trainer.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-28-2010 04:00 PM

I blame Brock Lesnar for the rise of John Cena. He left Smackdown and the WWE very quickly and they needed a new star to take his place.

Cena had just become the US Champion at Wrestlemania XX, so he was already an established mid-card darling. If Brock doesn't quit there wouldn't have been a need for another top star on Smackdown to rise up. Brock Quits and John Cena eventually becomes the name and face of WWE. Fuck you Brock!

Two UFC style matches. Taker and Brock would be WWE style. Have both Cain and Kane try to interfere in the match.

IC Champion 12-28-2010 04:25 PM

Lesnar is a bitch if the reports are true, and I mean who goes from the real thing to playing make belief in underwear for a bunch of preteens and fags, for a fraction of the pay.

Xero 12-28-2010 04:26 PM

Okay, two things:

1. LOL at Brock running after one big defeat. When things get too hard for him, he runs away.

2. If this is true, and he somehow gets out of the contract before Mania, I will jizz. It will be amazing and a true dream match (Taker vs Lesnar, but anything with Lesnar would be amazing). And honestly a huge draw for WWE.

That said, I could see White keeping him on as long as possible, then putting him in a fight where he knows Brock will likely get destroyed. Afterward WWE will obviously welcome him with open arms and put him directly in a top feud.

I wonder if Heyman will come with him?

IC Champion 12-28-2010 04:27 PM

I also doubt it's going to make any MMA fans care about wrestling.

IC Champion 12-28-2010 04:28 PM

And there is no way Dana White will let him out of his contract, he's much to spiteful, as anyone who has heard him talk for any length of time about anything will know.

MMA fans? No. MMA fans who were wrestling fans and haven't completely declared it's bullshit? Absolutely. And Brock is a main draw for mainstream as well.

Lesnar brings more star power to WWE than anyone on the roster currently can.

I always loved the way Joe Rogan jizzed his pants when ever Brock was fighting/ talking about him. I laughed my ass off when Shane nailed him in the face and Brock cowered back, started getting pummeled and Joe said "Nobodys ever done this to Brock before" I never really thought he should have been given the heavyweight title shot that quickly

Nexus Vs Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Kimbo Slice, Tank Abbott and Ken Shamrock at Wrestlemania

Most have written it off as complete bullshit and it is.

Xero 12-28-2010 04:46 PM

Regardless, are you saying that Brock wouldn't draw for WWE? Based soley on his UFC run? Because that's ridiculous if you are.

Rammsteinmad 12-28-2010 04:52 PM

I feel I should be excited by this news, but I'm not to be honest.

Lesnars run in WWE was amazing, and I'm sure he'd have no problem getting into ring shape again (steroids), but I'm not ejaculating over the idea of his return.

If he does, it'll be cool, but if he doesn't I don't think I'd be too bothered.

IC Champion 12-28-2010 04:54 PM

I'm saying he was a huge draw in the UFC because of his WWE days, the MMA community hated Brock, and still do. He was such a big draw because he was so polarizing in the MMA community. MMA fans bought PPVs to see him lose, and WWE fans bought it to see Brock. I don't think it would necessarily translate the other way around, and while he may be more mainstream than anyone in WWE, doesn't really make him a mainstream draw, I mean MMA highlights are lucky to shown at the end of Sports Center on ESPN.

I think you're over estimating the drawing power of Brock going back to WWE. I'm a big MMA fan, and I have ZERO interest in watching a Brock, or any MMA star wrestle for the WWE.

Jeritron 12-28-2010 06:00 PM

This would be fantastic. One of the best returns I can think of. I'd honestly rather see Brock back than The Rock or anyone else, at this stage in the game.

BollywoodSingh 12-28-2010 06:12 PM

As a one-time return it would be awesome, but I'd rather have him as a full-time UFC fighter than a full-time wrestler.

FourFifty 12-28-2010 06:57 PM

The crossover demographic for WWE and UFC fans is too broad. WWE would be able to boost buy rates and push some merch, but there wouldn't be any subtantial fiscal gains in getting Lesnar back in WWE.

If WWE wanted to really broaden their demographic for WrestleMania, then they should get the people from Jersey Shore involved in the event, and possibly some crossover with some show on Nickelodeon or The Disney Network. As a wrestling fan I wouldn't be too happy with this, but let's face it, some of us aren't just fans. I tried to buy the Katie Vick outfit. WWE could replace my cocaine a mixture of flour and citric acid and I'll do another line they leave out for me. I'm an addict. And quite frankly, what better WrestleMania to take a huge shit on than the one that's rumored to be WCW themed.

Let Brock have his one more fight in UFC, and give him a spot on next year's Mania card, but sign him six months in advance to build him up. Free him up from house shows if he bitches like a little girl about the traveling that Ric Flair did for 40+ years. Let him leave UFC on good terms, and let him go back to UFC after Mania 28 on good terms.

Fignuts 12-28-2010 07:44 PM

Brock leaving ufc would not be a "bitch" or "wuss" move. Combat sports are incredibly damaging, and countless fighters have been afflicted with life changing injuries due to the dangers.

like pro wrestling is any safer? LOL

Emperor Smeat 12-28-2010 08:25 PM

I'm split on what to think about this idea since as a one-off deal, it would be great and WWE would promote him as the main celebrity like they do with every Wrestlemania recently.

He's well off financially but Dana White won't let his current money-maker leave without getting a few other fighters a good rub/publicity from a Lesnar fight but at the same time, he won't work for cheap in the WWE due to his rising mainstream popularity.

Even though UFC and MMA matches are more brutal than a WWE match, the long trips and constant bumps do take its toll after a while which is why he hated the 200+ days per year with very little break. In order for him to be back at the top as a champion or main eventer means he would need to work more dates than he might want which could make him feel "bored" or lose interest again like in the past.

Now that they don't allow chairshots to the head? Yes. Understand I'm talking about all the permanent head injuries that occur due to a career of fighting.

Hahaha he stayed on his feet after the 2ND chair shot to the head. What a fucking beast!

Mr. C 12-28-2010 11:10 PM

No way it happens. Dana White won’t let it.

Anyone know how much guys in the WWE get paid? Lesnar made $5 million in total with endorsements and stuff for UFC 121. What would he get paid for WrestleMania?

Xero 12-28-2010 11:15 PM

A few million for a month of build and Mania itself, probably.

Mr. Nerfect 12-28-2010 11:17 PM

This news really fucking intrigues me. Lesnar returning to the WWE would just be a huge interest boost for the company. I'm not sure how much it would draw, but it would certainly create some sort of buzz. Lesnar also has himself set-up to be the perfect heel. It was in the wake of his absence that John Cena managed to rise to stardom. A Cena vs. Lesnar feud is the biggest thing the WWE could do in their current state. It's just a shame we will never get Brock Lesnar vs. Shawn Michaels.

Lesnar also burned the WWE quite good when he left the WWE, and the way they push talent has been effected. Lesnar returning might not necessarily mean the end to that, but it could start the healing process. Also, if it means the return of Paul Heyman somehow, I will be very, very happy.

That report says $2 million for 30 minutes work. It's also easier on the body and Lesnar originally came up as a professional wrestler. There is part of him that loves it, no matter how much he denies it.
