Cena injured?

From PWInsider:

There is concern that John Cena may have suffered a knee injury during a Raw house show in Wilkes Barre, PA. Cena apparently injured his knee taking the Wasteland finisher from Wade Barrett. They quickly went to a finish with Cena winning with some sort of submission when the planned finish was an Attitude Adjustment off the ropes.

Cena, who was having problems putting weight on his leg after the match told the audience that if he needed to "time off after tonight", he would, but he wasn't being carried out and then left under his own power, limping.

Xero 12-29-2010 12:11 AM

Sounds eerily similar to Edge's injury where he apologized on the house mic.

According to some fans in attendance at the WWE event in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, John Cena seems to have injured his leg from the Wasteland finishing move in his cage match against Wade Barrett.

Their main event match was back and forth and consisted mostly of Barrett attempting to escape and Cena stopping him. Around the 20 minute mark, Barrett got Cena in the Wasteland and dropped Cena on the mat. Apparently everything stopped and the trainers came to the ring and were talking with Barrett and Cena. After that Cena put on a Lebell Lock hold that wasn't the STF, Barrett tapped out, and left the ring quickly.

The announcer came out and brought the mic to John. John said "I got a little beat up tonight and if I need to take some time off I will but I will not be carried from the ring."

LeBell Lock?!?!

Schlomey 12-29-2010 12:12 AM

Uh Oh. Bad timing with the Punk feud getting under way. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise if he is hurt...bad for the WWE but good for CM Punk not having to inevitably job himself to that piece of meat.

It's a submission move, you twit.

loopydate 12-29-2010 12:17 AM

I just signed on to post this. I feel a little bad for Punk, because he was coming back from his injury with a main-event-level feud, and now he's back adrift.

On the plus side, they can always play up Nexus as being the reason for Cena's injuries and let Punk ride that wave into his next feud.

dronepool 12-29-2010 12:18 AM

If he is hurt, Punk takes him out next week again or they sell his beat down.

I know that, yutz.

It's just that if you listen to the morons of the IWC, Cena can't do shit.

Schlomey 12-29-2010 12:25 AM

Cena must be studying his bootleg Bryan Danielson vids.

SOCCER LEGS 12-29-2010 12:31 AM

how the hell can you injure you knee taking the wasteland? that move is about as harmless as a wristlock

CSL 12-29-2010 12:33 AM

That might be true if it weren't so blatantly and ridiculously untrue.

SOCCER LEGS 12-29-2010 12:35 AM

SOCCER LEGS 12-29-2010 12:36 AM

yeah i said it

Droford 12-29-2010 12:37 AM

Cena's "Labelle Lock" involves him singing "New Attitude" until his opponent taps out.

Work.

Come on people. Even I am not that stupid. Cena being off air gives people like you a some time off of hating on him and it gives way to a Barrett vs Punk feud for the leadership of Nexus. I can see Otunga possibly being thrown in as the face and make it a way.

This will lead to rumble where Otunga will be dubbed as inlegitimate and not worthy of Wrestlemania. Therefore, Otunga will have a replacement for his Wrestlemania match. Cena to the ring to face Punk/Barrett/Nexus.

They had a fake injury at a house show so they can keep him off tv? BRILLIANT!

CSL 12-29-2010 01:28 AM

Can we please start cleansing the wrestling forum?

Supreme Olajuwon 12-29-2010 01:31 AM

Luckily everyone in the WWE Universe reads house show results.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-29-2010 01:37 AM

Also how amazingly smart was it for them to plan the fake injury in a match against a guy who's written off tv? Fucking MENSA-type stuff here by the writers. Genius.

The only way you can injure a knee on that move is if Wade yanks your leg too hard or the wrong way, yes?

So what you're saying is that the angle was pulled off as well as a Tazz Dan thread in casual?

I've seen Cena use his limbs to brace himself for bumps before, so it's entirely possible that he stuck his leg out to cushion his fall and it bent the wrong way.

I guess it's also possible that the whip action on Wasteland could make his knees smash together.

Or maybe landing awkwardly, a leg takes the impact, knees colliding due to an awkward angle or something. Isn't hard at all to damage ligaments and tendons in knees.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-29-2010 01:58 AM

Here's an example of Orton doing it. Watch his foot.

Yeah but on that move, you end up flat on your back.

CSL 12-29-2010 02:00 AM

Landing flat on your back for every single bump you're supposed to land flat on your back for just doesn't happen.

Well yeah...which would make it Cena's fault, I guess.

Had it happened to Orton, Barrett would be fired.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-29-2010 02:05 AM

If the guy isn't up in a complete fireman's carry position, his legs just kinda stick straight out like Orton's in that vid. And then when Barret throws him he puts all the force on the guys knee and basically throws his leg straight down. So that hits first. Could easily snap an ankle or tear a knee on that.

It doesn't have to be anybodies fault. A single second of mistiming between 2 guys can be the difference between something smooth and a crock of shit. Shit just happens sometimes.
