UFC 126

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Belfort appears to be the most dangerous opponent Silva has faced in the UFC thus far, and i know a lot of people are picking him to be the one. i'm guessing that, no, it isnt going to happen.

Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
sort of a tough fight to call. both are well rounded. Forrest is very durable, but i see this as a fight Franklin can finish, and Forrest, most likely, can't.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
i dont know if i've ever seen Rocha, but he looks like a solid BJJ fighter. Ellenberger is gonna be bigger, and has more experience, and has beaten some tough opponents. Rocha seems solid though, for sure.

Bones vs. Darth

while putting together an impressive streak of wins, i think that Bader has been exposed in his recent fights as being very beatable - especially with his stand up. meanwhile Jones has consistently dominated his opponents.

Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos
i'll take Torres.

Kris P Lettus 01-04-2011 05:10 PM

Torres in the UFC makes my panties moist..

I'd make all the same picks as you, buddy..

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-05-2011 12:11 PM

REALLY REALLY pulling for Bones.

Next Big Thing 01-05-2011 05:08 PM

I agree with every pick except Griffin/Franklin. I think Forrest takes that one.

The Mask 01-05-2011 06:07 PM

best looking card in a while i think.

Mr. JL 01-08-2011 09:59 AM

REALLY REALLY pulling for Bader.

MoFo 01-11-2011 08:16 PM

My 3 fave fighters are all on this card, and they are all probably gonna lose :'(

lol why? watching him fight is the equivalent to watching paint dry.

IC Champion 01-13-2011 02:32 PM

I think Jones stand up will be overwhelming for Bader, and Bader gets dropped in the first round.

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-13-2011 03:18 PM

Bader is tough tho. If Bader's wrestling is better than Hammil's, (which I don't know whether or not it is) then Jones hasn't fought a guy with that level of wrestling.

From what I've seen Bader tends to fade as the fight goes on as well, but apart from the Bonnar fight where Bones took it on short notice and gassed a little bit, we haven't seen Bones go very far.

There's a lot of unknown variables going in. Jones SHOULD dismantle the guy, but it's really hard to say what would happen if Bader puts Jones on his back and starts grinding him.

To be fair almost everyone gasses against Bonnar. Bonnar may not be the best fighter but he turns ever fight into a dog fight and he's durable as all hell. He gets wobbly and people think they'll be able to drop him so they go all out to finish him and then when they're done Bonnar's face is rare hamburger meat but he's still there.

CSL 01-14-2011 10:46 PM

My boy (bit of a stretch, he trains one of my best friends, I've met him like once) Paul Taylor is fighting also against Gabe Ruediger and since he's a bit of a dick, you should all support him

Kris P Lettus 01-15-2011 12:27 PM

I like Paul Taylor..

ya know, it's gotten to the point that i dont see a whole lot of victories for Bonnar, especially at the upper echelon of 205, but i think a fight against Bader could potentially be a good rehab fight for Bonnar. i say this because i think that in last couple of fights Bader has been exposed as 1). not having good stand up, and 2). fading in the second half of his fights. could be something Bonnar could capitalize on - if he can stop a takedown.

THere's almost like a 'legends' LHW division now, with Couture, Ortiz, Lil Nog, Franklin, Bonnar, and Griffin.

You can add the folks that are on the slide like Machida (who is a loss away from being future endeavored), Caine, etc....and you've got a division outside of the championship level guys. So I think Bonnar has a ton of fights left, outside of Griffin.

On your point though, mr wolf....Even if the get's taken down, the guy is a vicious bjj black belt.

Bonner is one of my favorite fighters but the answer to this is that Bonnar wouldn't be able to stop the takedown. I love Bonnar but he's one of those guys that look to put on a show before he looks to win. All guys that favor excitment over victory usually get exactly what they want. And that is excitment but no victory.

Though I hope I'm wrong because I love the American Psycho.

Just seen that this is going to be at Mandalay Bay, and by coincidence, i'm going to be in Las Vegas at the time. (staying at Luxor, right next door). I've never seen MMA live, so is UFC worth dropping the cash on?

Kris P Lettus 01-17-2011 05:17 PM

I would def go if I ever had the chance.. Supposedly it pricey but I would go..

Tornado 01-17-2011 05:22 PM

Yeah it's something that i've always wanted to see.
I get to Vegas a week before the event, so I may take a trip to the box office to see what's avaliable.

I've been to one, it's worth dropping the "coin".

Kris P Lettus 01-18-2011 12:41 PM

Which one did you go to??

IC Champion 01-18-2011 01:41 PM

I know I'm going to 129, hell or highwater. I don't care if I get anyone to go, I'll fly there by myself if I have to.

The Mask 01-18-2011 01:43 PM

you can fly? impressed.

IC Champion 01-18-2011 01:45 PM

Yeah, so long as I'm on an aircraft.

Jones/Gusmao went 3 rounds as well. I believe Jones will win but I have only seen a few Bader fights.

Confused 02-04-2011 05:54 PM

Think I'll buy some beer and sit up late and watch this.

Looking forward to seeing Kid Yamamoto in the pre-lims as well!

The Mask 02-04-2011 06:09 PM

i'll be sad if jones doesn't win :'(

RoXer 02-04-2011 07:43 PM

But I'm rooting for Bader...

...nah not really goooo Jon Jones!

Next Big Thing 02-05-2011 12:29 PM

I'm so pumped for this! I feel like there's going to be an upset in either the Bader/Jones fight or the Silva/Belfort fight. Griffin/Franklin is a toss up to me + Kid Yamamoto. Crazy card.

ooTin 02-05-2011 12:38 PM

Ok I am not an avid UFC watcher but I do enjoy watching silva... what was up with the white mask?

Belfort said that Anderson Silva has been acting silly the weeks leading up to the fight because Anderson is scared. He says that Anderson puts on a mask to hide how he really feels. So I guess Anderson decided to actually put on a mask.
