I liked the bit when HHHe carried the whole feud and the company and the industry on his massive and entertaining back.

XL 01-08-2011 10:54 AM

Y'know, I don't think I've ever seen their 3 Stages of Hell (Armageddon) or Last Man Standing (Rumble) Matches.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-08-2011 10:57 AM

Wow did they really use that song on WWE tv? Great song.

MASSIVE & ENTERTAINING

Can we see how old he is by counting the lines on his back?

Nightwing 01-08-2011 12:11 PM

My favorite moment was probably when they announced Shawn was actually gonna wrestle in the street fight at Summerslam. A huge mark out moment for me. Never thought hed wrestle again, and we got probably imo the best stage of his career following that match.

Pretty certain that every single one of these Epic Feuds that Steele posts will involve Triple H.

screech 01-08-2011 12:19 PM

He wouldn't be pastor of the Church of Triple H if they didn't.

DLVH84 01-08-2011 12:21 PM

I always thought the Street Fight at SummerSlam '02, The 3 Stages Of Hell at Armageddon '02, Last Man Standing at Royal Rumble '04, and Hell In A Cell at Bad Blood '04 were the best matches of the feud.

The Naitch 01-08-2011 01:44 PM

I remember their first feud in 2002 like it was yesterday

I was sad to see the nWo go. But whatever. Then I thought that the guy who attacked HBK in the parking lot was gonna be Goldberg

Then they had their match at Summerslam. This was HBK's first match back as a clean and sober man so coming back in 2002 he felt unsure because originally the plan was a streetfight with Vince. But Triple H made the suggestion to do the match instead. HBK said himself he was unsure of himself having the match (with Vince) but now that his best friend Triple H was doing the match, he felt at ease

I thought it would be a one off thing. But then he came back for Survivor Series to win the WH Championship. HBK's career came around full circle 8 years later. It's the stuff legends are made of.

Are they virtually all of the matches from the feud!?

No. They had a lot of RAW matches as well as multi-man matches ie. Triple Threat @ WMXX and Backlash 04. The 6-man tag from Backlash 03, Elimination Chamber at SSlam 03. Shawn Michaels had heavy influence in the Nash/HHH feud in mid-2003 as well which evolved into HBK vs Evolution in late 2003 which once again culiminated in HBK/HHH in Dec 2003 and built all the way up to their "final battle" in an almost hour long Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood 2004.

Savio 01-08-2011 03:20 PM

It wasn't that great.

You are right. Triple H should have revealed himself as the biological father of Shawn's son.

Sixx 01-08-2011 03:37 PM

Or Shawn's biological father.

That would have been a mindfuck.

When Shawn was just a kid, Hunter used to carry him on his massive and entertaining back.

Jeritron 01-08-2011 03:44 PM

It was a great feud, but it went a few PPVs too long and really ended anticlimacticly. It was better when it started, and tailed off as it went along.
I'm not sure that should be the development of an epic feud. It started off hot as hell with the streetfight, elimination chamber, and 3 stages.
But then a year later, they were still going at it and it had sorta jumped the shark. In the summer of 2004 I just wanted it to end.

Which is perfect because it ended in June 2004 inside HELL IN A CELL.

Savio 01-08-2011 05:01 PM

The HHH/HBK feud was just a lot longer than it should have been.

MoFo 01-08-2011 09:19 PM

The finish to the LMS match at Royal Rumble was great.

Grablot 01-08-2011 09:21 PM

Well when u put two of the greatest wrestlers in history together in a feud with a lot of history together of course your gonna get an epic feud but yeah this is definetely one of the best feuds of all time besides Austin/McMahon

Yes it was. Had there been a draw in a LMS in WWE at that point?

Aguakate 01-08-2011 11:11 PM

I think the HHH/HBK feud is very underrated...it was very good.

Juan 01-08-2011 11:12 PM

Underrated by who, exactly?

I've read and heard some fans say that it wasn't good because HBK didn't have a long WCH reign, that he was just coming back and wasn't "100% in-ring shape", that everybody knows they are real good friends in real life and that made it difficult to "believe the angle", etc.

I think differently, however. I believe it was awesome.

James Steele 01-08-2011 11:22 PM

"believe it was awesome"

Fuck that. I KNOW IT WAS AWESOME.

I, Aguakate, believe it was awesome.

And so does James Steele.

When making love, have you ever by mistake yelled out "PAAAAAAAAAAAAUL!" ?

The One 01-08-2011 11:52 PM

The match at SummerSlam still ranks among my biggest mark out matches of all time. When Shawn was on top of the ladder, acknowledging the crowd, as a fan it was a moment I'll never forget.

Having said that, I felt their feud went on a little too long. Shawn won some, Hunter won most, and ultimately they just stacked gimmicks on for PPVs. I felt like it never really culminated, and eventually they just kind of drifted towards and away from one another over the years only to reform DX down the road. The matches were all worth the trip however, it was just as a program it never really reached what I would call "epic" if I'm being totally honest.

TOVO Fact: Tovo knows his A-B-C's.

This thread is beginning to implode and my mind explode.

I'm actually glad you have retaken your defense of Triple H and his legacy...you kinda left him unattended for a while...nice to see you back on the right path.

Does that include me? It wasn't a problem with either performer, merely the lack of direction and poor booking patterns.

TOVO Fact: Tovo hates the DMV.

James Steele 01-09-2011 12:09 AM

Exactly. At least some red-blooded All-American testicle-clad American gets it.
