At what point does an Average Joe go to Big Man?

You know, in terms of size. Would you consider someone like Hogan to be a "Big Man"? Or would they have to be bigger?

Discuss big men in general in here.

I think it honestly comes down to when its their gimmick.

What is Khalis Gimmick? A Giant.

What is Mark Henry's Gimmick? Worlds Strongest Man.

Then you get a guy like Wade Barrett, who is actually quite large, but not the biggest, and it isnt his gimmick.

But you could bring in a guy the same size as Barrett and push him as a big man.

Hogan is billed as 6'8

There have been guys considered BIG MEN that height.

Yeah this.

Its usually the bodyguard/enforcer types. Batista, Zeke Jackson and the like.

Do you guys think of Sheamus as belonging to the "Big Men" group? I was watching his match with JoMo last night and thinking how much bulikier than Morrison he was.

Who would be the best example of the Average Joe type of build, also?

Volare 01-11-2011 01:09 PM

Well Matt Hardy sure as hell accomplished that.

I remember being a kid and the announcers were putting over Undertaker as a giant. He is rather tall but that is rarely if ever mentioned anymore...

Hanso Amore 01-11-2011 01:16 PM

Batista was the ANIMAL and a Big man when he came in, though he wasnt that much bigger than Triple Haitch

Him and Kane were the WWF's Giants before Paul Wight joined the company.

Right.

Scott Hall is, what, like 6'6, 6'7? And he was never pushed as "a big man". He was pushed as a tough guy, but not a "big man".

He himself used to call Nash "The Big Man", and himself, "The Medium-Sized Man".

It all depends on their gimmick.

Sheamus would be in the same catagory as a Triple H

Wasnt "Big" Scott Hall his name in AWA?:p I gotta agree with Hanzo on this one about it being the gimmick. My favorite example of this is Big Josh from WCW. He was 6 ft and around 260 lbs which is really big for an average guy but in the world of professional wrestling thats kinda average
