Would You Hate This?
What if the MMA community took a step back and did a gimmicky no-weight-limit division? Or had a division for guys who basically didn't have the skill to compete with wrestlers/martial arts guys...like the big dudes from the original UFC events?
I would probably hate it.
It would be fun to watch but it would hurt the legitimacy of the sport especially if the ufc did it.
Strike Force isn't UFC right? I could see them doing something, and maybe getting big name guys to fight that aren't top tier mma guys. I mean it would give guys like Batista or Angle or other jocks that aren't mma fighters a venue to try it out against guys that are unskilled. Maybe some ex-football stars and so forth. That might be neat.
I personally would like it but I can't EVER see it happening...
They should hire Blatnick to cal the fights, so then it would def be the worst thing ever..
Dont like open weights.
One reason for my hate of open weights: MINOWAMAN. So my answer...fuck no, I wouldn't like this
Bad for the sport. Plus, no athletic commission in the US or Canada would allow it.
I kind of wish the UFC would adopt certain aspects of pro wrestling in terms of pyro titantron vids, backstage interviews and entrances. In my opinion it kind of adds to the live experience and viewing without undermining the integrity of the sport too much.
I'm not too big of a fan of open weight fights, but seeing a few athletes from other sports square off occasionally wouldn't bother me. Herschel v. James Toney comes to mind as a fight I think a lot of mainstream media outlets and fans would tune into. |

Yeah, I would love some pyro!!! For whatever reason, pyro gets me amped up for a fight!! Well, that and Akihiro Gono doing his dance!!! |
I'd be down for some more theatrics as long as they don't hire the screaming Japanese girl from Pride..

I've been watching through all the old UFCs lately (torrented 1-100 or something like that last year but only just started watching them all).
Would love to see Keith Hackney, Steve Jennum or Oleg Taktarov against some of todays fighters. Though now they're all old and past their primes, and unless they're still fighting (I think Taktarov was until a few years ago), they probably would never adapt so well to the rules of todays UFC. |
post fight interviews would be good
Hackneys ball punch technique would need modification..
