epic...I dig this.

RiX1024 01-17-2011 02:08 PM

Sounds like a plan. Anyone can win it this year.

thedamndest 01-17-2011 02:11 PM

The Superbowl has added a fifth quarter this year.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-17-2011 02:13 PM

Got a feeling this is to have Del Rio outlast Rey in terms of record time even if he doesn't win.

Hoping the extra 10 guys are shocks, but probably not.

Evil Vito 01-17-2011 02:15 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Definitely think a good amount of nostalgia participants will be in.</font>

Xero 01-17-2011 02:18 PM

I'm all for this, but I'm wondering how the intervals will be handled.

Evil Vito 01-17-2011 02:21 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah if they bump the intervals down to 60 seconds, the change wasn't worth it. Gotta be at least 90.</font>

Xero 01-17-2011 02:25 PM

At 90 seconds it makes it exactly an hour for everyone to come out (obviously not taking the longer intervals into account, which there always are). Best case scenario, they keep that rapid-fire pace while extending the match itself. And that's awesome.

Joesgonnakillyou 01-17-2011 02:26 PM

The article says there will be entrants every 90 seconds. I'm quite excited by this, despite the fact it won't make too much of a difference overall. I think anyway.

Article: http://www.wwe.com/shows/royalrumble...30520/preview/

"Every 90 seconds, one of 40 elite ring warriors with randomly drawn Rumble entry numbers joins the fray. "

This is officially epic.

Innovator 01-17-2011 02:33 PM

Well, now I have to order the Rumble.

Gass 01-17-2011 02:34 PM

awesome.

Shadrick 01-17-2011 02:35 PM

I love this.

loopydate 01-17-2011 02:57 PM

Well, now I guess my fantasy-booked Rumble from a couple weeks ago is shot to shit, right?

Very excited about this. Especially the prospect of more nostalgia entrants.

Ermaximus 01-17-2011 03:02 PM

What the fuck???

So in this case, nobody should be left off the RR card unless they're hurt. Maybe they're going to let some of the NXT guys into the RR?

I'm all for this, especially if they do a spot where like 25 people are in there at once or something.

Also Kane's record for eliminations will probz be surpassed.

Good shit regardless.

St. Jimmy 01-17-2011 03:05 PM

More guys for Hunter to squash.

Furious Beardsley 01-17-2011 03:06 PM

Awesome, and I was thinking that the Rumble was just going to be alright this year.

40 participants is going to make it pretty great I think. Looking forward to it now.

Ermaximus 01-17-2011 03:06 PM

So this could easily give Cena a chance to pull a Foley and use the 3 faces of Cena during the rumble.

Graveler 01-17-2011 03:09 PM

Awesome. It'd be crazy if the winner this year draws number 1

loopydate 01-17-2011 03:13 PM

I'm guessing we get two Chavo appearances, one as himself, one as the Eagle where he finally gets unmasked and even Swagger is disappointed that it's Chavo.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-17-2011 03:13 PM

Is this really awesome? It's interesting I guess, but putting in 10 extra guys with no chance of winning doesn't really scream awesome to me.

Kapoutman 01-17-2011 03:14 PM

Nice. Now it will be just like the Battle Royals I used to play on WCW/nWo: World Tour.

I'd have rather it remained 30. Alas, the decision was out of my hands.

Loose Cannon 01-17-2011 03:24 PM

PUT THE TITLE ON THE LINE AND THAT WILL BE EPIC

Nicky Fives 01-17-2011 03:26 PM

I like this..... I'd still like to see the time intervals stay at 2:00, but I guess I can't be picky.....

Why not just put every title on the line? Depending on how you finish, determines which title you get. 6th and 5th=tag champs, 4th=US champ, 3rd=IC champ, 2nd=WHC, and the last man standing gets the WWE titles, and both the Bella twins.

parkmania 01-17-2011 03:30 PM

Blech. Just means they felt they didn't have enough singles/tag matches to fill the rest of the time adequately.

Shisen Kopf 01-17-2011 03:40 PM

World War Three had 60 participants and those were the greatest PPVs in the history of the universe

That is such a TNA idea

But all 60 started at the same time.

Plus three rings.

I remember the very first Royal Rumble had 20, and a year later, it went up to 30. And now, they move it up to 40. That's a pretty good change of pace.

BizarroKing 01-17-2011 04:31 PM

The Rumble just got bigger in more ways than 1!

Dorkchop 01-17-2011 04:35 PM

Pretty awesome, but I wish they still came in every 2 minutes. That might seem too long for most fans though.

Rammsteinmad 01-17-2011 04:43 PM

I agree with Supreme, I don't think this is really a great idea. Usually in a 30-man Royal Rumble there are at least 20 participants that you KNOW are not going to win. Now it's going to be 30 participants.

I'm all for nostalgia and stuff, but if we suddenly get ten guest appearances (when you know damn well they won't win the thing), the nostalgia kind of wears off and ruins the 'unpredictablilty' of the match.

Plus, if it ends up being the usual legends such as Sgt. Slaughter, Roddy Piper etc, then I really couldn't care less.
