Pettis v. Guida
Apparently this is the match up. Do you guys like this pairing? Who would you give the edge to?
guida
They aren't gonna combine the UFC and WEC titles??
theyre doing a rematch with edgar and maynard because they went to a draw last time
Fuck yes! Gotta go with the homie Guida though.
fucking love Guida. one of the most exciting fighters. correct me if I am wrong, but the winner gets a shot at the belt, right?
really want to see Guida in a Title match |
dunno but id imagine they do... considering pettis will get his shot if he wins
I dont really care for Guida, and I like Pettis' stand up, hopefully he keeps it standing and knocks Guida out.
So this must be for the WEC belt ya?
Pettis will win via somersault dragon punch off the top of the cage.

I don't think its for the wec belt. In fact if pettis loses, guida might not even get a title shot
I think the WEC belt has been formally put away. I think Pettis is in a state similar to how Josh Grispy was in that if he wins he's the #1 contender, but if he loses it goes to someone else... hopefully Guida, but I wouldn't be surprised if the winner of Guillard v. Dunham got a shot first. Either way 155 looks like it could have good title matches for the next year and a half.
I think I did hear that the Dunham/Guillard winner was the number 1 contender..
As long as I don't have to see Florian choke under pressure in his third shot at a title I'm good with whomever.
Pettis is young, so he'll be alright whether he gets the shot sooner or later. It just sucks that he doesn't get to capitalize immediately off of the showtime kick and the sudden interest in him. Let's not forget about Sotiropoulus either. Dude is undefeated in the UFC and should definitely get a shot if he beats Siver. Plus I think he's in his mid-30's so I'd hate to see him have to wait until he's too old/banged up to get a shot. |
Pettis deserves his shot. He won, he's the WEC Champ. When a Monster like Clay Guida is considered a fringe contendor in a division, you know that division is deep!
He was kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. He probably doesn't have the money like Rashad to where he can sit and wait his turn and of course the UFC was gonna give him a fight that they could promote and sell tix off of if he did choose to keep fighting.
I feel like Okami is going to get screwed over in an even worse way at Middleweight. Dana seems gung ho about Silva/GSP and I doubt Anderson would want to fight Okami in August and then GSP in November or December while GSP's straight training for seven or eight months. Especially since Silva's getting older and probably needs more recovery time. |
Add Melvin Guillard to the mix.
