EMINEM
Old Eminem vs New Eminem
Basically not gonna count his Infinite stuff, just gonna go from the Slim Shady LP up to Recovery. For those that don't know, Eminem is clean and sober now (after a brief relapse) so his new shit has a more uplifting theme to it, compared to his earlier crazy drug induced shit. Old Eminem <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sNPnbI1arSE" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/X3cxEt4GiCI" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> New Eminem (sorry for the gay 15 second ads) <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lgT1AidzRWM" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/j5-yKhDd64s" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> gonna list his albums after he got discovered by Dre -Slim Shady LP -Marshal Mathers LP -8 Mile Soundtrack (first introduction to 50 Cent) -The Eminem Show (all produced without the help of Dr. Dre. This is considered to be Em's favorite album) -Encore (considered to be his worst album) << Went into rehab around this time. Had a brief relapse right after>> -Relapse (Em didn't consider this good enough) -Recovery (basically the 2nd shot or Relapse pt. 2) I think his career has finally come full circle (just like Shawn Michaels, for example). His Infinite stuff was pretty uplifting, then when he became famous, all the negative aspects came into play, but he finally came and turned his life personal life around with Recovery. He should retire on a high note IMO |
Relapse is worse than Encore IMO.
I can listen to Encore for the most part (although a few songs are awful.) Relapse though, I can't even listen to because of the stupid accent he uses in EVERY song. The only decent song from that album is 3AM, and that's mainly because I like the Travis Barker remix. |
I think the Dr. Dre/Eminem combination was done to death, and this was proven on Relapse
With Recovery, it was fresh. Dre had no part in this. Fresh production from new people, including Drake's producer Boi1da (I think he produced Forever, that LeBron James track with Kanye, Em, Lil' Wayne and Drake) |
,Dre produced a song on Recovery. I intensely disliked Encore and HATEDDDD Relapse. Lots of TPWW posters loved Encore though (like RDD).
Don't think he should retire yet, at least do one more album. |
I see him still being there for guest spots and producing after he "retires"
I don't think he'll never be fully out of the spotlight. I'd laugh if he discovered the next white rapper though |
|
Old Eminem is so much better but new Eminem still has some kick in him, just not all the time. Even though I hated the accent, he didn't use it in every verse and I think I liked Relapse better than Recovery. Hated most of the guest rappers on Recovery and preferred the theme of Relapse.

I'm too much of an Eminem fanboy to objectively weigh in on this. I'll just say there's something I like about all of his phases.
|
They both suck.

First two albums are the unit and after that it's all trash flavored trash to me
Really can't stomach Eminem now, et. al. |

Loved the first two, liked The Eminem Show, Encore was alright in places, didn't like Relapse, didn't bother with Recovery. Probably will at some point.

His delivery and flow were unreal on recovery, but his lyrical content was pretty lacking I thought. Great rhyme schemes but he seemed to be trying way too hard for punchlines and double entendres, most of which didn't really make any sense.

He also might have the most annoying fan base of any artist, ever
|
Beautiful is probably the only track that I like from the Relapse album.
|
Recovery is quite simply THE best album of all time imo.
