royal rumble question?
 

So the royal rumble is around the corner and I got to thinking has there ever been a royal rumble where the champion(ie. smackdown or raw) has entered the rumble and won it? Now I know that in 1992 ric flair won the rumble to win the title that was on the line but there has never been a champion enter the rumble and win it. So do could this be the year that a champion(miz or edge) wins the rumble this year? and how would u book the road to wrestlemaina if this was to happen?

ultimately it would most likely be a heel champion to do this and have the road to wrestlemania be a whole I dont have to defednd my title at mania now blah blah blah then they would fight HHH Cena or Orton at Mania

I still want there to be a rumble where its down to 2 people in the ring before the 30th entrant comes out. Then those two guys have a double elimination and the ring is empty, thus the number 30 entrant wins by default, without ever having to do anything in the match....

I am pretty sure that Chavo Guerrero entered the Royal Rumble and eliminated CM Punk when he was reigning as the ECW World Heavyweight Champion :-\

yep, Hogan. don't know why they didn't just have Warrior win that one. That was before the days of winner gets a shot at Mania though.

If the champion wins it he can have a night off Wrestlemania. hehehe.

If the WWE champion lost his match at the Rumble... could/has he ever then entered in the rumble afterwords?

He sure did. I was watching that Rumble yesterday and I was wondering... why have the ECW champion in the Rumble if the WWE and World champions are not involved? Seems like they were seriously down playing the prestige of the ECW Championship.

Like have a stip where if you lose you dont get your auto rematch, then come back and win the rumble later that night.

The only two WWF/WWE champions to enter the Rumble as champion were Savage in 89 and Hogan in 90. Hogan is the only champion to have won it.

I actually thought of this exact question when Alex Riley entered the Rumble to the Miz's entrance theme and the announcers didn't even get it for a few seconds before realizing it was Alex Riley entering and not Miz.
