Everything is in italics

Bought a new computer and everything on the internet is in italics. What I am typing right now is in italics. What I will be reading in a second will be in italics. And even the porno I'm viewing is a little slanted.

Someone help. I haven't googled the issue yet, I've just tried to fix it on my own. I'm going to go do that now.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 02:13 PM

This happened to me once when I uninstalled some crap. Download this into C:\windows\fonts

http://alxr.usatlas.bnl.gov/lxr/sour...rial.ttf?raw=1

RoXer 01-29-2011 02:17 PM

Still in italics

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 02:22 PM

Oh yeah, restart after downloading.

If that doesn't do it, does it do it in all browsers?

RoXer 01-29-2011 02:29 PM

Still doing it.

Does it in both IE and Firefox

RoXer 01-29-2011 02:29 PM

Firefox is shite mate. Switch to Opera

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 02:39 PM

Dunno. Whatever is your default theme font, it's probably missing.

RoXer 01-29-2011 03:02 PM

How do I check what my default theme font is?

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 03:06 PM

Google you default theme after seeing what it is by right clicking on the desktop and picking personalise, I guess.

RoXer 01-29-2011 03:26 PM

I didn't think the themes messed with the fonts

RoXer 01-29-2011 03:28 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Aero#Font

??

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 03:52 PM

MS charge for the font, so I've uploaded the ones out of my C:\windows\fonts

http://www.multiupload.com/G0K5X42S01

Out of ideas if this doesn't work.

RoXer 01-29-2011 04:00 PM

:(

RoXer 01-29-2011 04:07 PM

Would it have to do with my encoding?

RoXer 01-29-2011 04:18 PM

Went to Firefox-tools-options-advanced and unchecked the "Allow sites to choose their own fonts" and so now every site is in 16pt. Segue UI whether they like it or not.

At least it's not italicized

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 04:53 PM

Found this:

1. Click Start -> Run. If you cannot locate the 'Run' item, then click 'Window Key' + 'R'.
2. In the run box, type: c:\windows\fonts (Replace c: with the drive letter where the OS is installed)
3. The fonts window will open. Click 'Alt' + 'F' to activate the menu. Click 'Install New Font' in the menu.
4. In the folders dialog, browse to c:\windows\fonts where c: is the OS drive letter.
5. All fonts would now appear under 'List all fonts'.
6. Click 'Select All' and then click 'Install'.
7. Confirm the windows permission dialog.
8. A replace file dialog would appear. Click on 'Yes' to each and every dialog that appears. This will ensure that fresh entries for fonts are written in the registry. To avoid clicking, press and hold 'Alt' key - then press 'Y' key for every dialog that appears.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 04:54 PM

That doesn't just replace all fonts, it also changes the registry ao other programs (like Firefox) will find them.

RoXer 01-29-2011 05:05 PM

I do not see anywhere to "install a new font"

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 05:18 PM

On the left, there's "font settings". Click that and try clicking "restore default font settings".

Turned out the last instructions were for Vista.

RoXer 01-29-2011 05:25 PM

I did that already. Nothing

#BROKEN Hasney 01-29-2011 05:37 PM

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...r-install.html

That kind of reinstalls Windows but keeps all your settings and junk. Short of a full reinstall, I'm tapping out for the first time in this forum.

RoXer 01-29-2011 05:49 PM

I'm not doing that

Triple A 01-29-2011 06:16 PM

Try post #2 here:

RoXer 01-29-2011 06:31 PM

I'll do that in a minute and I bet that will work

RoXer 01-29-2011 07:23 PM

it didn't

RoXer 01-29-2011 07:56 PM

That fix is for Vista. Is that why it doesn't work for Windows7?

El Fangel 01-29-2011 08:00 PM

Tools > Options > Content > Fonts and Colors > Advanced

And change the fonts and options until you get it right. Are you sure its not italics but serif?

RoXer 01-29-2011 08:04 PM

That is the temporary fix for now, yes. I shouldn't have to do that though.

RoXer 01-29-2011 09:29 PM

This is so fucking stupid

Triple A 01-29-2011 09:36 PM

Just put in your Windows 7 disc and do a "repair." Or if you don't have a disc just illegally download it and do it.

RoXer 01-30-2011 02:04 AM

Now I can't boot properly.

I'm going to bed. I can't handle this rn

RoXer 01-30-2011 12:58 PM

I give up

RoXer 01-30-2011 05:16 PM

I missing my Times New Roman font

Triple A 01-30-2011 06:00 PM

If it is a new computer you might as well just reformat it and do a "clean install" of Windows.

RoXer 01-30-2011 06:19 PM

I decided I would save money by not buying a monitor and only hooking it up through the tv. I can't run BIOS because my TV does not recognize the lowres signal. Once Windows starts and gets to the login screen, that's when my tv recognizes a signal. Guess I have to borrow a monitor from a friend.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-30-2011 06:55 PM

MY TV does that through HDMI, but BIOS works fine through VGA. Try that if you've got a VGA port.

RoXer 01-30-2011 06:59 PM

I only bought a DVI to HDMI cable

G 01-30-2011 08:15 PM

Does your mom not have a vga cable in storage somewhere with the family's first desktop running Windows 95

RoXer 01-30-2011 08:53 PM

I sold that desktop a few years ago and have been using my busted laptop since.
