In-ring, when is Orton at his best?

Been thinking about this since the Rumble, but not been sure how to really put it.

I'm thinking that while Orton/Miz has been an entertaining product out ofthe ring, the matches have really been adequate with good booking saving them. Also, A-Ri beig the best performer in some matches.

It's not a complaint, because Randy is over as hell and deserves the shots. But really, when does Orton have good matches? Because it seems to me he's entertaining if being carried, or dominated.

Carrying is obvious, but being dominated allows Randy to come back with his back-backbreaker, suspension DDT then the blocked RKO after some floor punching.

I don't think he works with the chickenshit heel, because for that allotted time, Randy will repeatedly punch if he's in the drive seat.

So yeah, when's Orton at his best in-ring?

I was thinking this too watching his match with the Miz. There's something about Orton and his matches, that I can get into his rivalries and the build into matches, but then when I watch the PPV I find it hard to care about the match itself.

All his matches with the Miz and Sheamus were good, but all seemed to follow the basic formula. I can't explain it. Watching it is fine and I usually find myself getting into it, but afterwards I don't feel like it's one of those matches I definitely plan on watching again at some point.

Orton seems restricted either by the collarbone injury he suffered or by the fear of getting injured again. All of his offense seems half-hearted, his clothesline for example seems to involve more work on the guy taking it than it does from Orton delivering it.

You know I can't name the last amazing Orton match, that being said I also can't name the last train wreck Orton match either

Randy was the best when he was demented and obsessed with punting people in the head.....

Pretty much!

As a heel they should have called him The Man of 1000 Headlocks. He's a lot better now that he's using a face offense but to some degree is still methodical.

I've never really thought he was "great" in the ring, he's very fortunate to be as over as he is.

He's boring on PPV most of the time. He's at his best when he's on RAW. I maybe wouldn't think this if he would get another break from the main event scene...I am just so sick of Orton having the title or going after the title on PPV. Total HHH syndrome going on for ME.

/agreed ahh, but all good things must come to an end

I think he's pretty awesome.

His in-ring work may seem slow, but it serves a purpose. He definitely utilizes the "less is more" concept and he "gets it". It just seems weird because he works typically like a heel would, with the exception of his "hot minute". I dunno, I enjoy his matches a lot.

Randy Orton's at his best when he's just punting people's head's in.

He was at his best when Triple H and Ric Flair carried his ass in Evolution.

When he starts hearing the voices in his head of course.
