IYO: Matt Striker
 

I appreciate the fact that he is quite knowledgeable but I really don't enjoy him anymore and he tends to get annoying at times.

I enjoy him usually, he seems enthusiastic, and i like that he actually has some knowledge outwith the WWE.

I liked him initially until he went overboard w/ some of his analogies and stories and shit. He gets the names of moves right (pet hate of mine, JR was the main culprit for it) and seems a smart guy, but he just lays it on too thickly.

Example is "splendid armbar there, shades of Nick Bockwinkels spectacular match v Ricky Steamboat in the Pittsburgh Arena at 8:15, June 12th 1985"

I imagine if DVLH82 was a commentator, this is wat he would sound like.

I agree with thread starter. Also, I assume after Mania Lawler is retiring and Stryker will end up on RAW.

Honestly, I'm a big Striker fan. He adds that element of small element of experience with a small element of history, and a bit of humor and its a great mix. His "No way this is a markout moment! im markin out bro!" at the Rumble was gold because thats what we were all doin lol

I like him, but mainly because I like the fact that he calls moves accurately, and he gives some decent back story/build to guys who don't have a lot of tv time.

Striker's the man. Fuck the haters.

I enjoy Matt Striker, but I kinda wish he would go back to a heel manager. If given the right chance he can be almost as cool as Bobby "The Brain".

Two reasons I like Striker, and both were at the rumble...

When Booker came out "I am MARKING OUT MANNN!"

When Nash came out "HOLLY SHHHHHHHIIIII...."

I think he is great. I DO think he needs to tone it back at times, and needs to be with only one other team member. He speaks SOOOO much, and he can step on others.

Honestly, I would like to see him try to call a one man show, a la Joey Styles.

Or Put Striker with Nash on color!!!!

I like Stryker. I agree he does have his retard moments. But I find him far more entertaing and less annoying than grisome or cole.

Striker was the man when it came to actually calling moves, providing insight, and giving people nicknames.

Just recently, it seemed to me like he was trying a bit TOO hard to be liked by those on the internet. Needed to scale it back.

Also, he had a few big botches recently. Chief among them the aforementioned "CENA'S FREEEEEEE"

Definately think he tries a little too hard sometimes, but i prefer that to someone just showing up to get paid. He'll get get better with time, just needs to relax a bit.

I would like him if he wasn't trying too hard, yeah.

Cringed a bit when he said "I'M MARKIN' OUT BRO"

Those were my thoughts back then, and nothing's changed. In fact, now I just hate the guy. He's awful.

Great colour commentator, more of an expert analyst than a commentator, he's very knowledgeable. however, he can be annoyin at times, no wonder he pisses off the other commentators because he's too smart.

When Cena cost Barrett the title and made the 3 count in favour of Orton, Striker screamed Cena's Free instead of Cena's Fired. Now given how they booked it right after was he really wrong?

Not only does he call moves correctly but he gives the matches a more legitimate feeling by explaining why a wrestler is doing what he is doing. He's also not decidedly a heel or face announcer. The way he calls matches tends to get the face and the heel over.

The one thing he doesn't do well is reach a JR level of excitement in big matches. He kind of yells "WHOOAAAAA" and it sounds forced. But overall he is the best guy they have right now.

I like his insight and his jokes, and think he has a lot of potential, but he needs to work on his delivery badly. As Theddy said, he sounds forced a lot of the time. Like when Diesel came out at the Rumble. What he SAID was fine, but his delivery came off in an almost sarcastically excited way.

But he's absolutely the best color man they have right now. Except Punk, but he's not commentating anymore.

He's the best tweener annoucer they have right now as far as I'm concerned sure he may go a little overboard when it comes to his knowledge of wrestling but to I believe it is done intentionally to a certain degree.

I love me some Matt Striker. He works hard, always adds to matches, and tries to get everybody over. That's all you can ask for in an announcer. Sometimes he gets a little annoying, but I'd still take him over everyone. You won't find too many guys better than him.

I think working RAW would actually help Striker. Working with shorter matches might help Striker iron out his delivery.

Anytime something good happens, he's like "Holy Shhhhhh..."

I hate that.

He's say shit like "Planet X Nibiru, his arrival is imminent and destruction is promised".










And I love it!

Matt Striker, decent enough commentator but I have never fully understood all the IWC nut hugging that surrounded him.
