I propose that Del Rio should be built up as John Cena's kryptonite. In their first encounter, Del Rio gets the victory because Ricardo Rodriguez sticks his nose in there, and Cena is distracted allowing Del Rio to get the victory. Del Rio starts calling himself "The New Franchise" (I believe the Spanish translation is something like La Nueva Licencia" or something, and Cena challenges Ricardo to a match.
Cena obviously beats Ricardo, making him submit to the STF. Cena wants another crack at Del Rio. The next match between Cena and Del Rio sees a surprising result -- Del Rio manages to make Cena tap-out cleanly. Del Rio has a huge celebration on RAW the next night, which Josh Mathews points out must mean he's surprised he defeated Cena, while Cole is telling us that Del Rio always knew, but now he's proven it to us...La Nueva Licencia!
Cena does some emotional stuff where he says that he felt his arm giving way, and he has suffered injuries before, and didn't want to give Del Rio the satisfaction of knowing he put Cena out. But Cena feels he let his fans down, and what is the point of coming into work if you no longer feel like the best at what you do? So Cena is challenging Del Rio again. "One more time, Alberto! You and me! I Quit!" Del Rio agrees to the match under one stipulation. Because it's apparent RAW is not big enough for the both of them (oh, by the way, Del Rio is drafted with the World Heavyweight Title to RAW in this fantasy), the man who says "I quit" has to leave RAW. No more rematches, no more disputing -- winner gets RAW.
At their PPV I Quit Match, Ricardo Rodriguez tries to interfere, but gets decimated by Cena. Brodus Clay then shows up, and brutalises Cena. I have a feeling Del Rio will be bringing him in as a bodyguard eventually, and Del Rio locks in the Cross Armbreaker on Cena while Clay is beating him down. Cena eventually shocks the world by screaming "I QUIT!" Del Rio and Brodus Clay celebrate over the fallen Cena.
On RAW, we get some videos of Cena going in to get an arm operation or something, due to the damage Del Rio did to it. John Cena can take some time off to see that he remains healthy, and maybe film a movie or something. Del Rio then has RAW all to himself. Now, trying to work out where we are:
* The draft takes place after Extreme Rules.
* The first Del Rio vs. Cena match would then logically be at Over the Limit.
* Del Rio vs. Cena II -- where Del Rio makes Cena tap cleanly would then be at Fatal 4-Way, but let's change that event to "King of the Ring."
* The Del Rio vs. Cena I Quit Match would then be at Money in the Bank.
This means that Cena sits out SummerSlam, where King of the Ring Winner, John Morrison, can then face Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title. During that match, Cena returns and costs Del Rio the match and the title.
Del Rio is furious, and wants to sue John Cena, or whatever. He also wants his rematch with John Morrison. We see clips of Cena and Del Rio meeting with WWE officials at WWE Headquarters (perhaps with Triple H presiding) to work out their differences for the sake of the company and the World Heavyweight Title. Del Rio then jumps across the desk and puts Cena in a Cross Armbreaker, damaging the arm further.
Night of Champions has every title on the line, and Alberto Del Rio gets his title rematch against Morrison here. John Cena is forbidden to be in the arena. "Juan Cena," however, makes his WWE televised debut, helping Morrison again retain the title. This makes Del Rio furious, as it is not only obvious that Juan Cena is John, but it's disrespectful to Del Rio's culture. Del Rio says that what he's done to Cena in the past has merely been business. But now -- it's personal *wink*.
This takes us to Hell in a Cell, where Del Rio wants John Cena. The WWE Board of Directors try to put a stop to the match, to protect their investment in John Cena (and Del Rio). Cena wants the match, however, even though everyone is trying to stop it.
The match goes ahead, and the finish sees something extra awesome happen. I'm sure these guys can come up with something. It's probably about time to get Cena a win back, so he goes over with assist from John Morrison -- who still has something to prove to Del Rio, and hates bullies, remember.
Next we have Bragging Rights, where John Morrison would face SmackDown!'s WWE Champion in a Champion vs. Champion Match, and the "Franchises" who hate each other would be forced to team up and lead Team RAW. The fans and the lockerroom trust Cena more, but Del Rio feels that he is being discriminated against and has proven he is the best on RAW. Eventually, they decide on no official captain, but it is obvious that Del Rio is not happy that John Cena is so smug about retain the faith of the fans and his peers after Hell in a Cell. This leads to Del Rio (and some guys who are faithful to him) turning on Cena and some other RAW guys at Bragging Rights, and giving SmackDown! the trophy for the third year running.
Del Rio and Cena then lead teams against each other at Survivor Series, where Team Cena manages to defeat the heels, although Del Rio does manage to eliminate Cena from the match, leaving him open to being eliminated by John Morrison, or someone.
Del Rio and Cena are then part of a huge TLC Match at the Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV, where Del Rio can recapture the World Heavyweight Championship. He brags heading into the Royal Rumble, where his opponent is John Morrison. Del Rio retains the title there, but is shocked when John Cena wins the Royal Rumble and picks Del Rio as his WrestleMania opponent. They've fought each other in every match known to man, but at WrestleMania they fight for the last time -- and Cena wants to beat Del Rio on the biggest stage of them all.
