Most Underrated WrestleMania

It's WrestleMania season, so we need a Mania thread every few minutes. So with that in mind, what WrestleMania do you feel is the most underrated? Whether people just tend to ignore it or crap all over it, which do you feel is the most underrated?

Nicky Fives 02-17-2011 07:11 PM

Wrestlemania 9 or 13

Sycophant 02-17-2011 07:11 PM

Wrestlemania V, IMO...Savage had to carry Hogan through the main event, but honestly...one of the best matches only got 6 minutes...Perfect vs. Blue Blazer I thought was pretty good actually.

WM 16

Mr. Pierre 02-17-2011 07:13 PM

I'm gonna say 19. I haven't read any negative comments about it, but I feel that was one of the greatest shows and usually doesn't get mentioned in the same sentence as WM17. On top of the classic HBK/Jericho, you had Vince/Hogan, Austin/Rock, Lesnar/Angle, and an awesome undercard. Everything seemed perfect with this event. Match quality, match order, booking, etc.

Tazz Dan 02-17-2011 07:35 PM

I agree with Mr. Pierre. Everyone always says how many good matches were on that card, but it never seems to be ranked highly on anyones lists of great PPV's.

morgest1984 02-17-2011 07:35 PM

I bet WWE wish they had the Mania 19 card the following year at XX. If you go back and watch Mania XX with the exception of the amazing but unmentionable World title match the show has not aged well, where as 19 is monumental

Gonna have to go with this. Do find it strange how that WM isn't remembered as much.

wrestlemania 27

Wrestlemania 4

I always kinda enjoyed watching the tournament even tho the show lasted like 4 hrs or more

Anybody Thrilla 02-17-2011 09:33 PM

I would like to echo the Wrestlemania 19 sentiment, but I would also like to give a shout out to Wrestlemania 24.

there was some really great matches in that tournament

also i agree with Anybody Thrilla about Wrestlemania 24

Anybody Thrilla 02-17-2011 09:37 PM

I still can't believe how much I enjoyed Big Show v. Mayweather.

Anybody Thrilla 02-17-2011 09:37 PM

And of course, Michaels v. Flair was amazing.

I totally agree on WM 24...and loved this match. "I'm sorry, I love you." BOOM! Face!

ooTin 02-17-2011 09:54 PM

WM 1. The beginning of it all. I really enjoy old school wrestling. And WM 25 because I was there.

Anybody Thrilla 02-17-2011 09:57 PM

Wrestlemania 25 is not overrated. That shit sucked. I'm sure you had a great time and all, but let's be serious.

Savio 02-17-2011 10:44 PM

X8 everyone who wrestled on the advertised card was a world champion at some point in their life. It was Kinda like the last big PPV that featured wrestlers from that generation......I also went.

Volare 02-17-2011 11:38 PM

I've always loved the RVD vs Regal match for the IC title.

DDP vs Christian was great as well.

Corndad 02-18-2011 12:00 AM

I personally think the Wrestlemania 21 Going Hollywood gets a bad rap. Had a couple amazing matches in HBK/Angle and Taker/Orton. It also had the 1st Money in the Bank which was a pretty decent match as well.

James Steele 02-18-2011 12:43 AM

WrestleMania 23

SuperSlim 02-18-2011 12:50 AM

I agree about the words about 19. My fave Mania of all time and despite how good it is... X-7 is the only one that gets the big mentions.

But I would also say Mania 22 was real good too although nobody really says anything about it.

I enjoyed this show as well. I especially liked the promos leading in with the movie parodies.

seapig4 02-18-2011 04:58 AM

Wrestlemania 19, 21, 25 and wrestlemania 8 (Bret Vs. Piper, HBK Vs. Tito and Savage Vs. Flair)

St. Jimmy 02-18-2011 05:39 AM

WrestleMania 2.

RiX1024 02-18-2011 08:12 AM

Wrestlemania 19
Wrestlemania 8
Wrestlemania 14

James Steele 02-18-2011 10:39 PM

WrestleMania XI doesn't get enough respect.

Yeah, this.

Ric Flair was in the dark match because the card was that stacked.

Jordan 02-19-2011 05:27 AM

Wrestlemania 12... Legendary PPV for me. Great matches all around, really great stuff.

Triple H wasn't even on the card, and I think it is highly underrated.

MITB was awesome.
ECW Originals vs ECW New Breed was good.
Undertaker/Batista was awesome.
Cena/HBK was awesome (in spite of Cena completely ruining the ending)
Battle of the Billionaires was memorable.
Benoit/MVP was awesome.
Melina vs Ashey was like 4 minutes long. PERFECT!
Khali/Kane was meh, but it served its purpose. (Break/Cool Bodyslam spot)

The set and all the pyro was just jaw-dropping. I really wish Triple H could have participated in the event. (Cena/HHH II was supposed to happen until his Quad injury at New Years' Revolution 2007 when DX faced Rated RKO). I truly felt like a mark during the show, and I remember believing with EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING that Shawn Michaels was going to beat John Cena for the WWE Championship. Of course, he tapped to the STFU like HHH the year prior and I felt raped. Luckily, the show has held up very well over 4 years. This was also the first Stadium WrestleMania since WrestleMania XIX and it really was the first WrestleMania to have that supercard megashow feel to it since WrestleMania XIX. WrestleMania XX was more of a historical appreciation thing and the emotional ending. WrestleMania 21 and 22 were in arenas RAW had been in often and didn't have that "showcase of the immortals" feel to it despite being awesome fucking shows. Angle/HBK is something I could watch every day.

Jordan 02-19-2011 12:51 PM

I think Brock fucked shooting star ruined that match and thus that ppv. He should have just not done it and it would have been one of the greatest mania main events of all the times.

James Steele 02-19-2011 07:31 PM

Wasn't that supposed to be the finish? That would probably been the biggest HOLY SHIT moment ever at WrestleMania especially since a lot of the fans hadn't seen him do it in OVW.

BizarroKing 02-19-2011 08:42 PM

Does 22 get talked about as much these days? Rey actually wins the WHC (not to mention Kurt's last WM...for now) and the street fight between HBK and McMahon.

Mjdiesel 02-20-2011 03:39 AM

Wrestlemania X. That Shawn Michaels-Razor Ramon ladder match owned all our fucking lives.

Really? It wasn't that big of a deal, Angle made it look like he rolled out of the way, he got full rotation, it's not like he comically fell on his face.

Lara Emily 02-22-2011 08:26 PM

I'm gonna go with 8 (Hart/Piper and Savage.Flair are such classics that they alone make up for the rest), 19, 20 and 24 (I weirdly found myself cheering for Mayweather and digging that match, Taker vs Edge was the last time I believed the streak could just maybe end, the MitB was great as always and I dug the finish to Orton vs HHH vs Cena)

Technically...he got 7/8 rotation.
