Lock Jaw 02-19-2011 10:24 PM

JBL's last match.

FourFifty 02-19-2011 10:25 PM

Eddie, Benoit, realizing that it's fake, WCW or ECW's death, blah blah blah, etc etc. There, we got that out of the way.

I'll type mine out when I'm done eating.

Oh. Pretty sure he tapped, but there was no referee present to call for the bell.

Jura 02-19-2011 11:21 PM

Besides all the obvious ones I'd go with Mickie James not wearing skirts anymore.

FourFifty 02-19-2011 11:23 PM

Rob Van Dam winning the WWE title.

Allow me to explain- Growing up I was a fan of the WWF. Not WCW, not AWA, not WCCW, and not even the sport of professional wrestling. I was a WWF fan. Growing up as a Hulkamaniac I should have followed Hogan to WCW. No, I was too busy following what was going on with the WWF. I didn't have time for Hogan in another company. During the Monday Night Wars I watched very little WCW. I caught ECW when I could, but I didn't make it a point to see it. I've seen more Shotgun Saturday Night than WCW or ECW. I was a WWF fan, and now a WWE fan.

Now let's go forward to Rob Van Dam winning the WWE title from John Cena at One Night Stand. I almost cried. They were still trying to say ECW was its own company. So from a kayfabe standpoint this outsider won the title that I grew up with. The title that Buddy Rogers, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, HBK, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, and others won. They all fought for and defended the title that belonged to the company that Jess McMahon laid the foundation for.
Was it John Cena losing a title? Yea, but this was some reject from a bingo hall who couldn't hang in the major leagues winning the WWE/WWF/WWWF/CWC title. I was crushed.

So while all of you were cheering that John Cena lost the WWE title, I was almost in tears that someone from a bingo hall won the WWE title.

Jura 02-19-2011 11:28 PM

The Eagle belt being replaced by the spinner belt. Although I'm glad in a way because Cena and others don't have the privilege of holding it. The old belt was held by the wrestlers we grew up watching and the newer generation has this spinner belt so I'm fine with it actually.

Anybody Thrilla 02-19-2011 11:30 PM

Congratulations, FourFifty. You have just made the gayest, markiest post in the history of The People's Wrestling Website. Good show, lad.

So if you're happy with it is it still your saddest moment?

Jura 02-19-2011 11:36 PM

I changed my mind mid post. Mickie James not wearing skirts is still my saddest moment.

CSL 02-19-2011 11:38 PM

Also, definitely Owen. Was kind of 'de-sensitized' by the time Eddie died. Even now when I see the recap thing and JR talks about 'being half the man he was so he can see him again someday' it makes me go cold.

:wtf: really?

Fox 02-19-2011 11:43 PM

The Benoit incident. He was probably my favorite wrestler of all time and I truly looked up to him as someone who had overcome adversity due to his lack of physical size, charisma and "superstar appeal" that are generally needed to climb the ranks in the wrestling world. He was someone I believed stood as a role model not only for other wrestlers, but for anyone who had a dream and was willing to work their ass off and not listen to the haters and detractors who would try to bar them and stand in their way from accomplishing that dream. His win at WM20 is still one of my favorite moments of all time. When Triple H tapped out I lost it. When he hugged Eddie I almost shed tears myself.

The news about his murder/suicide was a majorly destructive moment in my wrestling loving life. I don't think I've ever enjoyed wrestling as much as I did before his incident, and I probably never will again.

If I could change the outcome, would I? Not at all. RVD winning the title helps out with the view of whomever cashes in the Money In The Bank always winning a title. And from a non-kayfabe point of view it was good for the company.

Lock Jaw 02-19-2011 11:52 PM

I was sad to see RVD win the title because I hate RVD.

This. I was so huge into wrestling at the time.

I would have put the Eddie show but I really wasn't watching wrestling anymore at this point

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-20-2011 12:18 AM

Hey 450, you did know that RVD was still a WWE wrestler right? That he had been in the WWE busting his ass in the ring for five solid years? Just because you don't get what ECW was doesn't mean it was just a "bingo hall company."

To be fair, if you had of just said it instead of posting a date, we wouldn't of had the chance to have our lolz with it.
