Ever been to a live TNA Show?

I was debating if I should go or not, and I was leaning towards not going, then I saw that I would be meeting and greeting TNA Wrestlers at 5:30 with the purchase of a ticket, so that actually pushed me to go. Anyone ever go to one of these meet and greets? Or how about a live TNA show? How was either experience?

Xero 03-02-2011 08:51 PM

I've always heard the house shows are a shit ton better than the TV product, probably because of the lack of storyline progression and focus on wrestling. It's also clearly a lot more about fan service. They pretty much hold their own Axxess every show.

I considered going to one here in a few days but I dunno. It'd only be $25 but still find it hard to even consider it because I hate their TV so much.

$25?! Shheeet, you should go man, just for the hell of it seriously. Well I guess after I go (March 19th) I'll come back with notes and update this thread if it's still alive and kicking....

Xero 03-02-2011 09:05 PM

Yeah, I'm waiting to see the card for the one here in Rahway. I might end up just going that day. The $25 seats aren't an issue for me because it's a gym, so they're good seats for that. I can't imagine me paying $61 on TNA just to sit in the front row and get Kurt Angle's autograph.

I was aiming for front row...all I got was 4th row though:-\ I'm assuming that is good, I was fifth row for RR 2010 and those were great. I just love live events in general, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

Xero 03-02-2011 09:09 PM

Yeah, I've been kind of spoiled going to indy shows the past few months because every seat is excellent. Sat basically second row and third row on two of them, and it's so different (and awesome) than sitting way back or in an upper bowl.

You'll have a blast for sure.

YoungFlyFlashy 03-02-2011 09:51 PM

» Mr. Anderson
» "King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett
» "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
» "The Monster" Abyss
» Mickie James

Those are the names for far scheduled to appear at the event, of course doesn't mean they'll be at the meet and greet, but I wouldn't mind meeting Double J, not a fan, but the guy has been around forever, so I'm sure a convo would be awesome with him.

Gertner 03-02-2011 09:56 PM

I got free tickets to a TNA house show and it was actually alot of fun.

Jura 03-02-2011 10:38 PM

And still haven't posted pictures of The Beautiful People.

Flash Funk 03-02-2011 10:39 PM

When I went there was autograph signings with Double J, Earl Hebner, The Machine Guns, and The Beautiful people. Don West was giving away merchandise all night long and there was an epic match between the Guns and Generation Me.

Nicky Fives 03-02-2011 10:58 PM

I regret not going to one only 30 minutes from my house, but in another country..... If they ever come back, I will buy a ticket fo'sho.....

Heisenberg 03-02-2011 11:07 PM

Earl Hebner is one of the coolest motherfuckers at the show, he'll ref a match or two and then you'll see him working the merch booth signing autographs and shooting the shit with fans. Real down to earth dude. I had a bad experience at one running into BG James and he snuffed me quick style. They do a session with one or two wrestlers at the end of the show charging 20 bucks to go in the ring and take a pic with them. This was all pre-Hogan/Bischoff era so things may have changed. Way better than watching it on TV for sure.

Funny you mention BG James. He was at a small indy show in the town where I live about a year ago. I tried to meet him but he seemed to constrict himself to the dressing room. I really didn't even want an autograph, just a handshake would have been nice.....but oh well...

bigslimjj 03-02-2011 11:25 PM

TNA came to my town a few years ago and it was the best non ppv show I had been to since raw came here in 1999. Including smackdown, and raw during the invasion angle. A.J. Styles wrestled Samoa Joe for a half hour in one of the best live matches I have ever seen. They went at it like they were on ppv. The only other match I've been in attendance for that was that good was HBK vs. Owen at in your house before WM12. Angle wrestled Christian in a good 15 minute match.Gail Kim vs. Kong was great. They had an excellent X-division match with Lethal and Petey Williams. The canandian detroyer piledriver is so much better live. Also got to see Beer Money vs. LAX.It was one hell of a show for 25 a ticket.I highly suggest you check it out.

Robodiv 03-03-2011 09:26 AM

I've been to two TNA house shows, and they have been great. By far better than any WWE house shows I've been to, personally. The atmosphere is bar-none. The crowd get RIGHT into it, and you can tell the Wrestlers really do feed off the crowd at these shows.

The second show I went to, me and my GF, and my mate who I went to UK Rampage with snuck down to the front row and just said we had been late, and it worked. Was great.

I think the house shows are maybe so good, just because they didn't do ANY for such a long time. Maybe wrong though, but it reminded me more of an ECW crowd rather than a WWE crowd. The fans were not scared to get into it, with such quotes as "STEINER, THATS HOW YOU DO A FUCKING SUPLEX! WATCH AND LEARN! " from as near as the first few rows, and constant profanity throughout the shows.

Rambled a bit there, but yes, I would definetly go.

Robodiv 03-03-2011 09:27 AM

Also, on another note. Both shows I've been to, the talent sometimes come out unannounced and wander around the crowd and meet some fans etc. Pretty cool.

i wish they would come to my neck of the woods (Arizona) as much as i trash them, i think they still have some amazing athletes and wrestlers. i would love to see some of them in person. i could have saw them when i lived in louisiana, but of course we sold our house, and moved to Arizona 2 weeks before they came.

Razzamajazz 03-03-2011 03:16 PM

i went to one a few years ago, it was nothing spectacular, but still better than what's on tv

Chavo Classic 03-03-2011 03:32 PM

Yeah, their live shows tend to be great. A lot more fan interaction and signings with talent often hanging around after the show. The polar opposite to WWE shows which is all about getting you in, out and to the merchandise store in between.

When I went Joe and Angle were walking around with black hoodies on their head, and sitting down in the stands with unsuspecting fans and signing stuff. They weren't bum rushed due to the cover of the hoodies I guess. It's the coolest thing I've seen a wrestler do for their fans. Kids were marking out hardcore.

mhirn3 03-03-2011 06:05 PM

Having been to a bunch of tapings in Orlando, ppv in orlando, a ppv in Detroit and a couple of house shows....I'd say the house shows are the best and encourage you to go if given the chance.

YoungFlyFlashy 03-03-2011 06:35 PM

Wow...awesome from everyone...really excited now...

Jimmy Cones 03-03-2011 07:25 PM

The bigger stars don't do the house shows, nor do they sign autographs... that being said I loved the wrestling both times I went. They def do fan service and try to hawk merch. They also grab some of the younger kids for backstage passes to try to build brand loyalty. Check out the fliers and stuff before hand to see who is going to be there.

Beer Money was excellent both times I saw them. They really know how to work a crowd. Jay Lethal was great. A.J. Styles was great. Most of the wrestlers, especially the younger ones, really put it out there for the fans. The meet and greet before hand has everyone lower then main event come down to sign autographs. They try to get you to buy the program since it has a full page picture of most of the roster in there for the wrestlers to autograph. They will also have one main eventer come out at the end for pictures in the ring for $20. Like I said, they hawk merch... but some of it is a good deal. I got 4 DVD's and a shirt for $20, and had everyone sign the black shirt with a silver marker.

Actually the only thing I didn't like was Kevin Nash v Jeff Jerrett. Luckily that match wasn't on the card the second time I went. It was pretty bad, and then Nash blew the finish. It was mostly bad because Nash didn't seem like he gave a shit. I actually counted the amount of moves Nash did, and not counting punches and kicks and stuff... 5. The whole match and he only did 5 moves and then blew the finish. But since you don't have to worry about that happening I'd recommend looking into it.

erickman 03-03-2011 07:32 PM

well that is nash for you lets see what he does in the wwe

That is exactly what I was thinking about, buying a shirt and having them sign autographs, perfect then!

I went to a show back in October, and it really was one of the best fan interactive experiences. Decent card including RVD v AJ in the main event, Gen Me v Machine Guns. I also officially met Joe, TBP, and Jarrett in autograph lines. A few of the undercard guys also came out later and signed in a walk thru. Here is my pic with TBP.

For 20 bucks u can usually get a pic w somebody in the ring. Other stars usually walk around the ring doing signings too

Pretty bad ass pictures!

Jeritron 03-08-2011 10:47 PM

I went to two of them.

One was in a very small venue at a beach boardwalk near me. The main event was Kurt Angle and Christian in a great match, and we were in the front row.
For 20 bucks, you can't complain about that.

The other was Lockdown, which was in a larger hockey venue, but still not very big. It was cheap and a pretty good time. It was the year Samoa Joe beat Angle for the title in the hybrid mma cage match.

In both cases I enjoyed myself. Wrestling is always a blast and a whole different experience live.

YoungFlyFlashy 03-11-2011 06:51 PM

Hey this brown paper bag special, would it be sold during the meet and greet? That way I would buy that, get whatever shirt it is and have them sign it? Or should I come prepared with a shirt already?

Fignuts 03-11-2011 06:54 PM

Where did they hold the event that had sting vs jeff hardy? That looked like an honest to god crowd, instead of the studio audience they usually have.

mhirn3 03-11-2011 07:04 PM

Flashy, at most house shows the answer to your ? is yes.

Fignuts, that was at 2 impact tapings in North Carolina a couple weeks back.

Found that live event hype promo for TNA, and also TNA has updated the expected card for the house show that I am attending.

Appearing live and in person will be:
» "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy
» "King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett
» Mick Foley
» "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
» Matt Hardy
» "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero
» "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner
» Mickie James
» "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan
» "Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe
» Ink, Inc.
» Madison Rayne
» Gunner & Murphy
and more!
