Are Warrior and Batista HOF candidates?
 

Let me preface this by saying we're not going by WWE standards but our own opinion on the HOF. Because, let's face it, by WWE standards, both are a lock.

I was just thinking how I absolutely believe Warrior is Hall of Fame bound, and does belong in the Hall.

Then I got to thinking about Batista. While, to me, it feels like he hasn't done quite as much, he has really done way more than Warrior and was in the company for double the amount of Warrior, and a mid to top star for 7 of those 8 years.

So, how do you feel about Batista being in the Hall of Fame? Does he belong? How about Warrior? Does he belong?

warrior yes, because in the early 90s he was always 2nd behind hogan in terms of fame

i was never a fan of batista and always tended to tune him out. so "meh"

Warrior shouldnt be bundled with a bum like Batista, he had way more charisma and star aura than Batista could dream of.

Batista: No, unless he comes back for a few more years..... a 5 year career isn't enough IMO to make it into HOF.....

Warrior Career: 1985-1992,1996,1998 = 9 years in the business, in WWE/WCW 7.
Batista Career: 1997-2010 = 13 years in the business, in WWE 8.

Warrior = yes. No doubt. Iconic figure and world champion at a wrestlemania. Known over the world as the guy who beat Hogan at Mania and ignited crowds. His career wasn't that long but he left a permanent mark.

Batista = no. Multi time world champion yes but I don't EVER think about him now that he is gone and didn't care much for him when he was there. I do think that his kissin' babies promo is HOF worthy.

Warrior? Yes.
Batista? In a few years or so.

If Hogan is in...Warrior needs to be in for that reason alone. Both sucked in the ring, but you can't argue with star power I guess.

Batista = horrible. Was pushed because he was the size of a Volkswagen. I don't care how long he was in the business. Personally, I think the HOF should be reserved for building blocks of wrestling, Icons, or amazing in-ring workers...Batista doesn't fit any of those.

I think it depends on what the qualifications are for getting into the WWE HOF, which comes down to a matter of opinion since there is no "official guideline" from the WWE themselves.

When it comes to historical moments, I think Warrior qualifies. His match with Hogan at WrestleMania 6 is the stuff of legend. I don't know if there will ever be another time when they have this kind of match at Mania, and I don't think there has truly been one since. The up and coming IC Champion star taking the flame and the gold from the reigning WWF Champion. An amazing and emotional match that will forever be remembered.
With Batista, I don't think he qualifies here. His Mania matches, including his WM21 victory over Triple H, are forgettable. There was nothing "epic" about any of his Mania matches and he's never actually had an "epic moment" inside the ring. He's done some cool shit (well, one cool thing, which was him powerbombing Triple H through a table), but that's about it.

On the microphone, I don't think either man qualifies. Warrior had the most ridiculous, nonsensical interviews of all time. Basically his promos were the equivalent of a massive roid rage attack (which is likely what they actually were). Batista just wasn't exciting to listen to, and I've said it before and I'll say it again, his interview on the RAW after Mania 21 is still one of the most painfully awkward and boring interviews I've ever heard a World Champion give.

Inside the ring, I don't think either man qualifies either. Despite Warrior's big epic match at Mania, it was only hyperbole that keeps that match in the history books - not technical mastery. He never really had anything close to a 5 star match. Batista is in the same boat. He had a few good matches against Triple H, who carried him on his massively entertaining shoulders through a couple of bloody brawls, but aside from that, Batista has never had a "holy shit match of the night" in his entire career. He's just not capable of it. Even Goldberg had a show stealer with DDP at Halloween Havoc 98 - Batista has never accomplished that, despite working with several stellar opponents.

Promotionally speaking, I think that Warrior qualifies. He sold a shit ton of merchandise for the WWF back in the early 90's and was definitely more popular than Hogan for a certain amount of time. I think I still have one of those cotton stuffed Warrior dolls in my closet somewhere. Batista doesn't qualify here. I don't think anyone can make the claim that Batista ever "drew" for the company, not the way that Rock, Austin, John Cena or even Rey Mysterio have drawn for the company. Nobody outside of wrestling knows who the fuck Batista is, but I'm willing to bet most people 18 and over know who the Ultimate Warrior is, wrestling fans or not.

In the end, I'd Warrior should go in, Batista should not, unless he comes back and fills some of these qualifications up, which I honestly don't think he's capable of doing. I bet Warrior won't go in anyways - not after the Self Destruction DVD.

Warrior should go in since he might not be at the Hogan/Macho legend status but right below them along with the other greats of his era. Realistically, I can see him not actually making it similar to Macho Man due to either Vince disliking him or being a bit too crazy out of the ring to induct in the PG climate of the current WWE.

I'd say no to Batista since he never really had that period where you could say he carried or co-carried the company either as a champion or big name. Unlike Warrior, realistically he probably does end up being in the Hall due to having better connections with people in charge of the company.
