Failed Wrestlers That WCW Kept Trying to Push

Thought we'd do a spinoff of the WWE thread

I will start off with Disco Inferno

Placebo is a horrible, horrible band.

And I loved Disco Inferno. :(

I happen to be a huge fan of theirs

but I guess I can see why you don't like it

you're more of an 80's rock guy

Sixx 03-05-2011 05:48 AM

What about Disco Inferno?

He was great.

Lara Emily 03-05-2011 06:35 AM

When did they ever try to "push" Disco Inferno. If anything he wasn't pushed enough.

Honestly Disco is probably top 10 in my fav wrestlers of all time.

Seth82 03-05-2011 06:36 AM

I'd say Shane Douglas

I think Shane would be long forgotten if he never went to ECW as even the fans hated him when he tagged with Johnny Ace as The Dynamic Dudes and then of course in 99-00

I love disco and I've just watched Shane Douglas and Kendall Windhak put on a classic on Nitro.

Again, Shane wasn't pushed enough. He was the best talker in The Revolution and could go.

whiteyford 03-05-2011 07:33 AM

Probably half of NWO Hollywood

Horace Hogan springs to mind. Although he never got a major, major push that I can remember.

cardsharkrob 03-05-2011 08:01 AM

How about when they kept repackaging "Glacier"

Chavo Classic 03-05-2011 08:31 AM

That has to be one of the worst Titantrons I've ever seen.

Ultra Mantis 03-05-2011 10:09 AM

Buff Bagwell

MoFo 03-05-2011 10:58 AM

Road Warrior Animal
David Flair
Hugh Morrus
The Nasty Boys
They did far more than they should have with Steve McMichael

Ultra Mantis 03-05-2011 10:59 AM

Ernest "The Cat" Miller
David Flair

MoFo 03-05-2011 11:02 AM

I guess Vince Russo too, considering he got a title run and was in feuds with Goldberg & Hogan.

What? His WWE run was shocking, but he was the man in WCW and well deserved his spot

Dunno. He was shit, but never really pushed. Held a couple of mid-card titles but I'm at September 1999 and he's curtain jerking against Berlyn.

Other than Hugh Morris, this list is good.

Somebody call your mama. You're done. The Cat was the man.

Ultra Mantis 03-05-2011 12:14 PM

I just called my mama and she said The Cat really sucked when he was made Commissioner and before that he was one trick pony, though I do not doubt that he could "whoop e'r'ybody in here".

Why are you ragging on Disco Inferno and Shane Douglas?

WCW didn't even push either very much either.

Razzamajazz 03-05-2011 01:20 PM

i've always hated jeff jarrett. and the fact he was pushed to the moon during wcw's dying years doesn't help

XCaliber 03-05-2011 02:05 PM

yeah disco had the best heel heat, loved when they did not let him join nwo and was too fat to be in the cruser weight div.

When was he pushed? They hyped his return as Berlyn, but only had a month before Russo came in who didn't really like him and pushed The Wall instead. Plus, his look as Berlyn was awesome and he could fucking go.

And when he joined the Filthy Animals. He had an inflatable duck :'(

Supreme Olajuwon 03-05-2011 03:35 PM

Can't believe I'm the first person to say Lex Luger and Kevin Sullivan.

Luger to his credit was over as fuck and had the look, but god damn he was terrible at everything. Basically he had a forearm and the torture rack (which was awesome), and that was it. But Kevin Sullivan, jesus christ. He was the worst. Might be my least favorite wrestler ever.

One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn't belong.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-05-2011 03:42 PM

Wasn't really watching Nitro when Sullivan was there so can't comment, but jesus yeah, Luger.

Also Warrior, purely because he'd just checked out mentally by that point.

Doesn't help that the murderer of the group looks stoned as fuck.

Yeah, Luger was over, but I always felt that WCW wanted him to kind of take the next step and become an "Icon", but he never could.

MoFo 03-05-2011 03:50 PM

The Wall

but I think he was one of the Harris Bros as above

also Konnan, because I thought he was shit.

He joined the elite version eventually, I loved his short run as Scott Hall's lacky/manager. Hell Hal helped him beat Wrath on Nitro once! It was great they added Wolfpac sound effects to his theme song.

When Disco wins you can hear that signature nWo voice, it's awesome

How can you not love this, Disco is one of the most iconic and over life time low/mid carders ever

Nah, The Wall was a different hoss compared to The Harris Brothers/Creative Control.

mhirn3 03-05-2011 04:40 PM

I'd without a doubt say these two guys, big as fuck but boring in the ring imo

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/msXjP4iPNm0/0.jpg

Worst 50 wcw gimmicks ever, you'll find a lot of the same guys listed in this thread on there: http://www.bedofnailz.com/wcw.html

Emperor Smeat 03-05-2011 05:36 PM

The crowd liked Kronik so it might be a bit unfair to say they were "failed" wrestlers. If anything WCW failed with their push of Bryan Clark/Wrath during the period before he became part of the Kronik team.

Even though they were not really wrestlers, the majority of the celebrity "wrestlers" WCW hired and pushed. Huge waste of money that didn't benefit WCW, especially with Master P and his group.
