So who will be calling Wrestlemania?
With The King and Michelle Cole battling it out on the grandest stage of them all, who will be calling the matches for the night? A safe bet would be a combination of Josh Matthews, Matt Striker and Booker. But I would be really happy to see Joey Styles come back for a one night deal. Feel free to post your opinions and suggestions

Joey Styles would seem highly unlikely as he has been off tv for 3 years. I am praying for Jim Ross/Josh Mathews/Booker T.
|
Jim Ross/JBL/Paul Heyman is my dream lineup.

I'd like Ross/Striker/Mathews. Not too keen on Booker T. I'd think Cole and Lawler will announce at some points tho. At least Cole (maybe till his match comes up - there's no way he'll be winning it).
|
I would be shocked if JR does not call Lawler vs. Cole......
|
King or Cole will be calling the show up to the match, maybe even both of them. Either way for the match itself it would be Matthews and Stryker. During the match JR is going to him his buddy King win, and "chase" Michael Cole out of the GA Dome onto the streets, and they will finish the play calling together.
Book it. |
I can see a Michael Cole, Matt Striker and Booker T line-up 'til Cole's match and Josh Matthews will take over.
|
Striker isn't even good enough for normal TV apparently, so I'd be shocked if he was on announcing.
|
I'd bring back Jim Ross and have him call the show with Booker T. They just brought Booker in, and who better to be the voice of WrestleMania than good ol' JR? The thing is, I can't imagine a WrestleMania without Jerry Lawler calling the action. Surely the WWE will want to keep some kind of familiarity for the biggest event of the year.
I'd love to hear King calling the rest of the matches with Booker and JR after he beats Michael Cole. |
I really hope it's not Booker T. I'm sorry Book, but you're sort of annoying.
|
Booker was great at the ppv. He seemed to phone it in on Smackdown, but he was great at Elimination Chamber.
I think Cole will probably call some matches. They aren't going to be having a full length match when It's Cole/King. It's going to be a squash with King killing him. Styles can't call anything he doesn't have a contract to announce. He is just a regular WWE employee working on WWE.com. |

I am upset that Matt Striker seem to have falleb out of favor he was absolutely amazing as a commentator. But I think for mania we should definetely have J.R.
I would want to have JR/Vince for dat old school feel. |

Josh Mathews should be calling it -- he's a great commentator, really delivers, and has pretty much been everywhere lately. You cannot hear a WWE show without hearing Mathews' voice these days. It really doesn't make sense for him to not call the PPV.
Booker T seems like a sure-thing, too. Booker is a big signing, someone the WWE seems to really want to push as a commentator, and I can't see him doing backstage interviews. Booker will definitely be in there as a color analyst. Now, I can't see the WWE leaving it as Mathews & Booker. It's far too...untested and SmackDown!. The WWE will probably have someone else in there. Michael Cole is a possibility. The WWE is really pushing him, and they could easily put him at the desk, talk about how he is so sure he'll be beating King that he can do commentary, and really build the heat for his match later that night. But I think that could be distracting -- and he'll need to be replaced, eventually. Matt Striker would be my personal preference. He's called Mania before, he's a great announcer, gets along with Josh Mathews, and he would be an interesting blend to Booker T's style. I think Striker would be able to add so much to a commentary team as a third man. But I have a feeling we'll see Jim Ross. He won't be back full-time, but the WWE just won't be able to resist using him for their big show, and "giving the rub" to the new commentary duo of Mathews & Booker. Striker will be on the show doing interviews, asking the hard questions. It could get epic heat if Michael Cole boots Jim Ross from the commentary position for the WWE Title match, or something, too. So yeah, I'm going with the prediction of Josh Mathews, Jim Ross & Booker T. |

Can someone give me Wrestlemania's number, so I can call it?
Thank you  |

I'd mark out for a team of Josh Mathews, Booker T & William Regal. Not that Regal has much of a chance since he's so new as a commentator, but it's not like Regal will be wrestling on the show.

"Is your Great Khali running?"
"No. He can't do that." "Oh, right." |
"Hi, Wrestlemania? Yeah, I'm calling because your cat is in my pool"
"My cat in your pool? I don't have a cat" "And I don't have a pool, mothafucka!" *Hangs up* |
I'd rather have Cole and King stay out of the booth for the hole night. Let the suspense of their match build up without constant trash talk and bickering.
I think Josh Matthews should get the nod here. He's arguably their best new generation play-by-play guy, and I think he should be their man going forward. Getting the constant nod to voice Raw each week has to mean something. I don't Book is ready for Mania. Let him sit backstage and do interviews. I'm split on Stryker, but I'd rather have him in the booth come April 3. I would LOVE a JR/Matthews/JBL combination. In fact, I'm hoping that, if Lawler does retire from his broadcast position, JBL takes over. JBL was gold at Mania 23. |
Apparently Booker is slated to call Mania according to his twitter. Hoping for Booker, JR, and Matthews.
NO COLES ALLOWED! |
I'd wager a guess that they'll send good old JR out there, possibly having Rock introduce him at the start of the night. Having Cole or Lawler out there will only detract from the undercard matches, as they'll be on serious hype duty for their own match.
|
I think a JR/Matthews/Booker team could be really good. JR has the ability to really put over any match, and he can carry a broadcast team.
|
The thing about Jim Ross is that he could also put over talent, too. He will make Dolph Ziggler seem like a bigger deal in one night than most guys ever could in a career. JR would not be a bad choice, at all. My only problem with it is that he's not a permanent voice for the WWE, and the WWE needs to move on sooner or later. Introducing Josh Mathews & Booker T at this year's WrestleMania is a good start, I guess.
I think Matt Striker should really be out there, though. He could really make some guys look great at WrestleMania. I'd love for him and JR to work together at one point. |

Agreed that Matthews calling Mania is a great start. I'm still not sold on Booker. Stryker def. should be getting the nod, but I have a feeling he won't. I continue to campaign for Vince to pay JBL a boat load of money and let him have at it behind the desk. JBL on Raw would be immense. |
I think JBL's greatest talent was actually as a commentator. He could really put guys over.

Hopefully Raw was not a one off appearance, and JBL gets to put his mic work to the announce booth again. |
I miss Striker. Wonder what did him in?

– According to a source, current plans call for Jim Ross to call at least two matches at WrestleMania XXVII. wonder why only two |
