Blood's back, but for how long?

The past few weeks we've seen at least two instances of blood on WWE TV. Once on RAW where Punk busted his nose and Edge busting his nose on SmackDown! this past week. The Punk scene was played in a replay later in the night unedited, and they could have easily put Edge's scenes to black and white, but didn't, despite the blood being all over Del Rio's shirt. They were both consciously left unedited.

So, a few questions:

When do you think we'll see the first blade job. Will we?

How long will this last? Is it back for good?

How do you feel about WWE at least backing off on accidental blood?

Do you think we'll see match stoppages in the near future for blood?

Discuss blood in wrestling in general in this thread.

I don't know if there'll be blade jobs. If so, it will be in a huge match at a Wrestlemania. Maybe HHH vs Taker, or Cena Taker next year?

Given the recent approach, I don't see any stoppages happening. Whether they admit it or not, I'm pretty sure Linda's campaign ending has resulted in them loosening up a fair bit.

I say it should be fine, as long as it's accidental or the result of a "holy shit" moment. We dont need exaggerated and out of hand crap like a "Flair flop" or a abdominal stretch resulting in 8 gallons of the red red kroovy splattering every whichaway on a weekly basis. Then it's back to half of the flashbacks being black & white and getting color meaning less.

Yeah, definately don't want TNA levels of blood to come back. AKA someone gushes every week.

I'm all for them not stopping matches for accidental/minor blood loss (I'm thinking back to Christian/Benjamin Ladder Match).

Asmo 03-07-2011 05:25 AM

Blade jobs should be reserved only for special matches. That doesn't include each and every gimmick match, or championship match, or a feud ender/beginner. Blade jobs can add to the realism of a spot, and should be kept at that alone.

A match shouldn't be stopped if the wrestler does bleed accidentally.

XL 03-07-2011 05:28 AM

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it was reserved solely for Hell In A Cell as a way to give it back some "spark". Of course, this would mean dropping the HiaC PPV.

How vulgar...

^^^ How juvenile.

With the Rock bringing back a little swearing and what not.
With the blood not being edited out and matches not being stopped.

I reckon it's kinda connected. The Rock coming back is a semi-signal that they're going back to something a little old school -same with Cena rapping.
I doubt it'll go much further and blading seems a far way off (for good or bad).
I however also don't see them reverting back to the way it was a year ago with matches being stopped and that stuff.
Hopefully they'll let accidental blood be accidental blood. Hopefully they'll allow the odd swear word, but prolly not allow it to become rampant.

It might end when this whole 'tribute' to and earlier era ends. But hopefully they're now searching for a middle ground that wont alienate parents (and thus their children), but will be less restrictive and thus allow for a little more darkness in their feuds. (eventhough kidnapping and being buried alive is kind of dark).

To answer the original questions in order:
No, not likely.
Hopefully it's back for good, but in the aforementioned mediated way.
I fell very good about it.
Maybe if it's more than just a cut (say a leg falls off :P)
Blood in general - I don't mind blading, but only in rare cases does it actually add anything major to a match. Accidental blood is part of the business and should be accepted as such.

As long as there's botching, there will be blood. I think WWE just realized how horrendously stupid it was to stop the flow of a match for a nosebleed.

But I don't see it going much farther than that. One Dusty Rhodes forehead is enough, thanks.

I never understood the whole no blood thing. It portrayed the fact that while this is a show you can be legitimately injured doing this. If WWE doesnt want kids tryin this stuff at home, let the pros bleed and show these kids even the guys you watch do this on TV get hurt and bleed.

legendkillerRKO 03-07-2011 11:30 AM

^^^ after I read that, i may have not worded it so great...but you get my point...it puts reality to the fact that someone just got up 10 seconds after falling off a 10 foot ladder.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-07-2011 02:57 PM

Yeah let's count how many people are saying "Ooh blood, this is unsafe!"

Now let's count how many people are saying "Ooh blood, this is cool!"

Grablot 03-07-2011 03:01 PM

Blood adds realism to the match, but i agree with the keeping blading for big matches instead of the TNA juice of the week competition.

Savio 03-07-2011 07:37 PM

They let rock says "ass" too

The Gold Standard 03-07-2011 09:13 PM

I think blade jobs will be done, but I think accidental blood is going to stay, as long as it is not dangerous, ala the cut on Holly's back a few years back.

Jordan 03-07-2011 09:52 PM

Blade jobs are unrealistic, disgusting and inhumane and in no way should they ever be brought back to WWE. We have past that and are no longer in the carny days of pro wrestling. WWE has made matches so much better since eliminating blade jobs, and if a wrestler bleeds that is fine. I don't like stopping a match for an injury that doesn't call for it. If Triple H can finish with a torn quad then Cena doesn't need to get patched up (unless it's a gusher).

Blading is fucking stupid. A long cut on my forehead, oh what a coincidence. If you like blade jobs your a sick fuck, this shit is fake and I don't need people cutting themselves to make me think its cool or real.

When will we see anal bleeding?

DLVH84 03-07-2011 10:17 PM

I say save the blood for special matches like Steel Cage, Ladder, TLC, Hell In A Cell, Elimination Chamber, etc. Matches people know will have a major pain factor.

:y: agreed It should be in steel cage matches and hell in a cell .If your face is gonna hit steel, most likely there will be blood. It will be more realistic for matches like these.

Eklipse 03-08-2011 12:31 AM

Austin had a lil blood between his eyes on RAW tonight...that's 3 weeks in a row!
