If PS3 and 360 had exactly the same games...
Would anyone actually prefer the PS3?
I've just got mine working thanks to hackers who can now let you take a drive from another console and match it with another one, sweet. 60gb BC console for £30  SO ANYWAYS, now I've been using it on a day to day basis, the whole experience is god awful. Once you download a few things, the games menu is a big list where you have to wait 5 seconds for the icon and name to load in. That's if you could find what you want from the store. I know the original 360 marketplace sucked when it got a lot of content, but this takes the fucking biscuit. Why do I have to take an extra step to install it? I didn't just want it for the installer, god. So the I play a game... 400 meg patch. Really? For fucking Pain? I'm surprised the games that big. So I give up and go to 3D Dot Heroes. 178mb patch. Even fucking Steam doesn't patch this often and at least I can play other stuff while it does it. Really want to try this one so I do wait. Then it loads and it black screens so long I actually think it's crashed. But I can install to speed these horrid load times. Hey, I've only waited 45 mins to play a game, what's another half hour. The games awesome at least and that is what matters. But if you had the 360 experience and these PS3 exclusive games, would you bite their fingers off? |
no the ps3 is awful. why even make this. this will be a unanimous decision.
|
I prefer everything on the Xbox.
From the pads, games, Xbox Live to PSN, everything Xbox does is superior IMO. |

I like my PS3 a lot, but everything that is multi-platform I get on the 360. I don't really have any local friends with PS3s though, so it makes more sense to do it that way.
I'll say that if I was forced to get everything on the PS3 if my 360 broke, I wouldn't mind. I don't really have any major gripes with the system. |
PS3 is terrible, that is all.
|
Their D-Pads are pretty good.
|
I already prefer the PS3. 360 is good, but I stick with Playstation for now.
|
Hate the pads with a passion. Already bought an SF4 fight pad for d-pad games and gonna see if I can find one of those 360 looking controllers G posted a while back.
|
I really don't get the PS3 hate, but whatever. I definitely prefer it. To each their own, but I despise the 360 controller. Plus, from what I've seen, Netflix is a little better, and the PS3 is (or at least was for a long time) more reliable.
Of course, the fact that my PS3 is backwards compatible is a huge plus for me. Oh, and the PS3 Media Server program is fucking godly. Pretty much the best for streaming whatever is on my computer to my PS3. |
 my PS3

It's all about the content in the end, which is why I have one and am hoping Demons Souls will repay some faith.
Mines also BC and since I missed a lot of PS2 classics, I'm looking forward to using it. It's just the speed to do things that bugs me, both in execution and presentation. It's like I have an extra 5 minutes to do something compared to the 360 or even the Wii. |
Yeah, I like the X-Box at a friends house or whatever but I always hated the controller. It is a good system but like I said I like the PS3 a hell of a lot more.
|
The Shoulder controllers on the PS3 are god awful.

You do know you can hit square to categorize the shit you download, right? It'll break it down into PS3 games, Playstation games, and I think Minis too. They'll each have their own folder, and it doesn't take long at all. |

I already have a Master System, why would I want a bigger more expensive one?

I already have a mini fillet, why would I want a bigger more expensive one?

I already have a laser disc, why would I want a bigger more expensive one?

PS3 hands down. Just because I wouldn't pay for online gaming because I barely play games, and for the blu ray player. And I've had all the Playstations so I'm used to the controller.
|
if they both had exactly the same games the ps3 would win out because of the blu ray

It's not like I bought a PS3 because I wanted a PS2. The fact is though, it saves space, as instead of having two machines on my shelf, I have one. Convenience is a good thing. Same logic with it being a Blu Ray player too. Much more convenient to have one machine that does both, as opposed to having two things on the shelf. |

Never. Discount. Fanboys. Navigating the PS3 with a large content list is pretty ridiculous, though. And the update process is utter shite. |
I always forget about the blu ray player just because I primarily use my PC for blu-rays (region free  )
So we've got media, free online and joypad as reasons, fair enough. But could anyone argue that the process of sitting down to enjoy a current gen game and booting it up is better on the PS3? Because it's just frustrating me. I've never been this disappointed in an OS since I installed Windows ME :( |
It's minor, but PS3 doesn't need to be connected to the internet to stream stuff from a PC, 360 does. That would sway me if they had the exact same games. Would much rather sit in a comfortable recliner watching stuff on my computer then sitting at my desk and watching , when the internet is out.
|
PS3 also does Mp3s better then 360, having to rip CDs to get Mp3s onto a 360 for custom soundtracks in games is awful. Much easier on PS3 where you just transfer via USB or even copy off your media server
|
I think you've put me off getting one

Like I said before PS3 is the choice for media. Xbox for games.

That being said PS3 is still the most efficient you just copy a single mp3 over, choose it in the game and you're done and it's always there. They are both great systems in the end. |
Not really. Other than custom themes for SDvR, you can use any source as custom soundtracks while playing.

PS3 used to be 500 dollars more expensive! You're totally better off getting a 360. :wtf: |
Though the best arguments for the PS3 really are other media.
I suppose BD capacity is nice, but it goes mostly to redundancy because they skimped on other specs. You could say, it's got a lot of redundancy. |
In the end I have both and like both but I would end up probably choosing PS3 if forced to for bluray and more efficient media management
|
"Management" is probably not the word you're looking for.
|
When I eventually get a PS3, I'm def going to only use it for PSOne classics, the Joker mode in Arkham Asylum and a handful of PS3 exclusive titles.
|
Yeah exactly. Bar the PSOne stuff (I have a PSP for that), but Demon Souls, 3D Dot Heroes, GT5, Yakuza 3/4, Valkyria Chronicles and MGS4 make it worth picking up cheap. Especially since I can play all those PS2 games I missed too (including a translated Namco x Capcom  )
