Some Kind of Monster

www.somekindofmonster.com

I wasn't entirely sure whether this goes in the movies or music forum, since it's a movie about a band, but since it is a movie I figure I'll put it here.

For those of you who haven't heard of it yet, Some Kind of Monster is a documentary about Metallica over the past 3 years. It focuses on the band's struggle to stay together through all of the crises they'd gone through, starting with the departure of Jason Newstead and ending with the release of St. Anger. It's supposed to be really emotional, showing some of the more intense arguments between James and Lars, the band's group therapy sessions, and even a meeting between Lars and Dave Mustaine to try and reconcile their differences.

You can check out the trailer on the link above. I know a lot of you guys aren't Metallica fans, but I for one am not passing this up.

Saw a few commercials about it.

That's about it.

Funky Fly 08-01-2004 06:51 PM

People are going to watch it just because it's Metallica. Too bad it's going to be crap.

Champion of Europa 08-01-2004 07:32 PM

It's been getting great reviews, Two Thumbs Up from Ebert, **** from the NY Times (I think it was them), and such.

Plus, they don't play any songs till the credits.

Too bad my theater doesn't carry Independent movies.

Nowhere Man 08-02-2004 02:07 AM

Shit, I'll have to drive to another state if I want to see it in theaters. The closest places listed are in Nashville.
