Honestly, how do you feel about "little people" in wrestling?

Well, this is still better than half the crap Hogan and Bischoff try and put on today. There have been "little people" in wrestling since the early Wrestlemanias and even today with Hornswoggle, but what do you think when you see them on TV? I kinda feel its wrong when their just use as a sideshow attraction. Alot of "little people" hate Puppet (the one in the trash can) because he encourages the word "midget" out there and acts like this. I dont think theres anything wrong with some of the guys in Mexico that put on amazing matches, if they can wrestle let them go

I actually didnt mind those crazy lucha midgets in WWE early 1998 (Max Mini, etc).

Plus, King was hilarious on commentary slagging them off, kinda like Cole is now w/ the Divas.

Fuck yeah! That stuff was awesome, king just pissing himself laughing during the matches

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love Daniel Bryan, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Oh, wait... You meant actual little people...

Gertner 03-24-2011 12:15 PM

I'm just wondering what Bryan was doing in that garbage can? He should some improved mic skills there.

Sycophant 03-24-2011 12:55 PM

It depends on the way in which they are portrayed. If they are really out there to wrestle and put on a show...let's see it. If they are there for comedic effect like Hornswoggle...no thanks

Rammsteinmad 03-24-2011 12:58 PM

Meh, don't really care to be honest, but I guess they have a certain quota to fill, and if it means employing a dwarf, so be it.

I think it's one of the more embarassing cliches of wrestling that "brings it down" or adds to the negative image people have of the business.
It's a circus sideshow element.

But at the same time, I think an actual character who is over like Hornswoggle is tolerable in small doses, and when used in the appropriate capacity.

King Kong Bundy beating up midgets at WrestleMania is PPV gold in any era.

This

Riker 03-24-2011 02:17 PM

I feel weird. Like its sick to use them as sideshow attractions, but if they want to do it and it makes them happy, whatever.

I just find ZERO entertainment in it. Might as well do a Bikini Competition, its about as entertaining.

Razzamajazz 03-24-2011 02:22 PM

midgets have been around since long before wrestlemania. they are there for comedy aspects, no matter what they try to do

dingdongyo 03-24-2011 03:41 PM

honestly, i usually use their tv time to pee.

i don't know if giving them their own weight class title would make me care more, or just pee more.

Jordan 03-24-2011 08:58 PM

I don't wanna come off harsh but...

I AM NOT ENTERTAINED BY MIDGETS, THEY MAKE ME UNCOMFORTABLE AS FUCK

Xero 03-24-2011 08:59 PM

Were you beaten by a midget, Jordan?

Xero 03-24-2011 09:00 PM

On another note, I was in the hospital the other day and saw two guys. One who was like 6'6 and a midget who was like 4'5 or something. And they were dressed alike in business suits.

Not wrestling-related, but midget-related.

Dude, midgets in wrestling go WAY further back than Wrestlemania. There was an NWA World Midget Championship dating back to 1949.

Theo Dious 03-24-2011 10:36 PM

Also I used to work with a midget who was the most ill-tempered little bitch I ever met.

...so they should be able to do whatever they want to make a living? The hell you say!

I submit this: book Max Mini or Hornswoggle; book Andre the Giant or the Big Show. No difference. In both cases you're presenting someone as a "freak" based on their size. The only difference being that midgets, being small, are seen as helpless, and by extrapolation, exploited. Giants can clearly look after their own selves because they can smack anybody out of their way, right?

In conclusion, I support the inclusion of midgets anywhere they desire to be included. Find me an attractive midget woman and I'll fuck her just to prove it.

indeed

midget wrestling has been around for many decades now

it was used as a special attraction for family's to bring their kids to watch

here's a midget match from 1983 with Little Coco and Lord Littlebrook taking on Little Tokyo and Johnny Reb from the old AWA

I'm sure they do go back further than Wrestlemania, that just seemed like a good point to start from
