Watched the pilot of Doctor Who last night.

Sweet jesus, is this what I have been missing? Nobody told me?

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-01-2011 04:58 AM

Welcome to 2005.

Londoner 04-01-2011 06:07 AM

Didn't know americans cared for this.

Kane Knight 04-01-2011 09:02 AM

Define "pilot."

And why didn't you take the hint from the many threads that have been made since the show came back?

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-01-2011 11:07 AM

I assume he means the first episode with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.

XCaliber 04-01-2011 12:47 PM

If you are referring to the episode entitled Rose than you haven't seen anything yet there's many other great episodes to follow.

Don't you mean "Welcome to 1963"?

The Destroyer 04-01-2011 01:31 PM

You watched the unaired pilot version of An Unearthly Child? Awesome.

If you mean Rose, then stuff just gets better. Catch up. Quickly.

Next Big Thing 04-01-2011 01:33 PM

That's exactly how I felt three months ago when I stumbled on the show. I always dismissed it as more corny SyFy bullshit, but the show is good.

My boyfriend & I watched that. It was... ok. The Doctor was just plain creepy in the pilot.

The Destroyer 04-01-2011 01:52 PM

Yes, he was a sinister old bloke in the early days. :'(

I've never actually watched the original pilot, come to think of it. I've got it on DVD, have to look it out some time.

That. And yes, Rose

The Destroyer 04-01-2011 02:56 PM

I'll warn you, some the of the first revived series isn't that great compared to what comes later. Was definitely a case of them finding their feet early on.

And aload of shit ones. :(

The Destroyer 04-01-2011 05:01 PM

The good massively outweigh the bad though.

El Fangel 04-01-2011 05:16 PM

Loved the black guy trying to look tough.

The Destroyer 04-01-2011 05:17 PM

"The black guy" = Mickey.

El Fangel 04-01-2011 05:19 PM

Ah, thanks.

The Doctor's personality was totally different between the pilot and the reshot version of An Unearthly Child. In the pilot, he and Susan were just plain odd.

Not a pilot episode.

Londoner 04-02-2011 02:59 PM

I certainly enjoy the show more since Russel "T" Davies left. He became far too predictable.

El Fangel 05-08-2011 07:14 PM

OMFG, The last 6 episodes of Season 3 are goddamn brilliant. Like I can't believe how this show had passed me by for so long.

El Fangel 06-28-2011 12:43 PM

This show is hands down the most consistently awesome show I have ever watched.

YOUR Hero 06-29-2011 10:02 AM

Yup, it is good

Favorite line from the show, thats from Blink I believe which was just a goddamn incredible episode.

Kane Knight 06-29-2011 10:31 PM

Quite possibly.

Next Big Thing 06-30-2011 01:11 PM

The Weeping Angels were brilliant.

A shame they weren't as cool when they were brought back.

While they were certainly supposed to be a bigger threat, they didn't have the same mistyque or nightmare fuel factor.

El Fangel 06-30-2011 01:53 PM

The episode in the forst was rather good, but nowheres near how awesome Blink was. And I have to say, the Ood are just plain awesome.

Kane Knight 06-30-2011 09:53 PM

The Ood are just plain....Ood.

Kane Knight 06-30-2011 10:03 PM

It's a forest in a bottle on a ship in a maze....

Kane Knight 07-01-2011 10:54 AM

Also, I'm going to nick a line from "You Know Who." Dear Steven Moffat:

STOP. KILLING. RORY!

Kane Knight 07-01-2011 04:17 PM

Voice: Fear me, I've killed hundreds of Time Lords.
The Doctor: Fear Me, I've killed all of them.
