Some people's reasons for becoming a WWE superstar

Just watched the first episode of Tough Enough, and this guy said his reason for becoming a WWE superstar is to support his family/handicapped brother etc whatever. Do you think that's the wrong reason?

I'd rather have someone say that he wants to be a WWE superstar because he is a fan and loves wrestling etc, instead of just wanting some fanancial security. It's the same thing with UFC with these guys saying they wanna be the next Ultimate Fighter so they can support their wife and newborn baby.

I don't know, I've never liked it when someone shows up on TV saying his main reason is so he can make some money out of this thing. Kinda disrespectful IMO. If he wanted to make money, he could go find other ways to make money like prostitution, selling drugs, or getting a trade. Stop wasting space and leave it for the people that actually want it more, for the right reasons.

This is the sort of guy they wouldn't trust or hire anyway. Who's to say he won't bail and sign with a higher bidder if he becomes popular and tires of the industry, Lesnar style? For the most part, they'll hire the guy who will stick with it thick and thin because he loves what he does.

The word on the street is that Melina and Alicia Fox had one of the greatest matches of all time.

It could be that he's a huge fan of WWE, but the fact it'll help support his family gives him that extra bit of motivation.

Judging by his performance though, I don't he'll make it anyway.

The dude seemed honest as hell and he did mention that he was a long time fan. But the whole "I am doing it for my brother/family" thing did make me feel sad, annoyed and sympathetic. His performance didn't seem like he was driven either.

Didn't Maven say on the first Tough Enough that his reason for wanting to become a <s>wrestler</s> WWE Superstar was because of his sick mother or because his mother had died or something?

I don't like Miss USA already. Fucking cheater

The Naitch 04-08-2011 06:35 PM

I cringed hard at the elimination segment.

I loved the show, but I have a feeling not too many of the participants could name one Wrestlemania Match from the past few years.... They all seem pretty oblivious to everything that is WWE.....

Hate the girl in this video who says she is doing it because "it is a challenge" and then when HHH asks her if she is a fan, she says no.

I dont know why reading this thread made me think of this, I also think it's kinda fucked up the way she says Jaaaaakkkkk...ie and Jake gets pissed. Anyways, back to the post I just think it adds to the "reality show" formula. In every show you have the beauty queen, the sad case, the douchebag, the drunk, and the country guy

Agreed. I think if they didn't have these bottom feeders on the show, people wouldn't watch. People like to watch these people make asses of themselves on TV.

Didn't she and that one other cunt basically quit in the first week?

Stickman 04-10-2011 12:03 AM

There is absolutely no reason other than money to do it. It's that simple.

Asmo 04-10-2011 12:34 AM

I wouldn't put it that way. Money does play an important factor, but it depends on what you want from it. If you're looking at wrestling as a career, then money becomes the reason to get ahead in the business. If you're looking at it as a challenge / change / hobby, / anything besides a career then money will be secondary, as you're probably not looking to earn from it, but are in it for the fame / change.

At least, that's the way it largely is for each and every other career. Passion, drive and motivation, or desire always helps start your way on a path, and will always push you to do your best, but unless you keep earning your livelihood from it, you will not consider it a career.

viO 04-10-2011 02:47 AM

Show seems scripted out the ass anyway, so I couldn't care less what their reasons are.

mhirn3 04-10-2011 12:19 PM

he did say he was a huge wwe fan at the start of that I thought.
