Love me or hate me it's still an obsession

Was Curt Hennig the most talented wrestler to never wear the WWE or WCW title?

Jordan 04-18-2011 03:44 AM

Either him or Owen

Tom Guycott 04-18-2011 04:24 AM

An argument can be made for MANY other people in that respect, chief among them is Rick Rude... even more if you factor in the comedic non-answers people are inclined to throw in just to be difficult and/or troll, such as Shockmaster.

So, as much as I would love to agree about Henning*, I'm gonna have to say no.

Jordan 04-18-2011 04:42 AM

Piper

Tom Guycott 04-18-2011 05:03 AM

You know what? I thought Piper, but for some reason I thought he was WCW champ at one point. So I went to Rude.

Then again, I keep forgetting Eddie RETAINED against Angle.

Rock Bottom 04-18-2011 07:20 AM

You know, he'd definitely be the guy to argue against. Any contender for this would have to be compared to Henning.

Kind of makes me roll my eyes when I see some of the guys that get the belt nowadays.

MoFo 04-18-2011 08:00 AM

Jake The Snake
Ted DiBiase

Providence Peep 04-18-2011 08:54 AM

King Kong Bundy or "Iron" Mike Sharpe

Gertner 04-18-2011 08:56 AM

Scott Hall.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-18-2011 09:00 AM

I'd count Rick Rude as a world champion. WCW had two world titles back in the day and he was the International World Heavyweight champ. It's no different than the setup they have now.

Nicky Fives 04-18-2011 09:59 AM

It's a tough argument...... Hennig, Owen, Piper, Jake, Hall, DiBiase are all definitely in the running.....

Aguakate 04-18-2011 10:09 AM

Well, thing is...Curt Henning never wore the WWE or WCW Title...

Theo Dious 04-18-2011 10:33 AM

If we restrict this just to WWF/E title runs, the list is thiswise:

Hennig
DiBiase
Roberts
Rude
Hall

HHH is the guy to not have held it enough. :shifty:

NormanSmiley 04-18-2011 11:37 AM

very good work fellas!! i like when there are few dumbshit posts and food for thought answers. Hennig , piper, roberts, dibiase are all quality names. Wonder if Vince has any regrets not ever giving those guys a run?

how about another one.. Yes or no? was hogan slamming Andre THE moment of 1987 of did something top that?

Aguakate 04-18-2011 11:57 AM

...Ok...I got the point of this thread now...

...and I'm going to go with The British Bulldog.

The Show Off 04-18-2011 12:03 PM

Brian Pillman

Before his ankle got fucked up he was so great in the ring and the guy was absolute gold on the mic.

The Show Off 04-18-2011 12:05 PM

Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson for honorable mention.

NormanSmiley 04-18-2011 12:18 PM

@agua Bulldog was lucky to win the IC belt in a match catered to him for a guaruntted pop. he would have drawn for dick as a top belt holder. and he was garbage on the mic.

@showoff. was always dying to see a flair/AA feud where Arn went face and took the strap. booked right i think it could have worked

...He's very underrated.

NormanSmiley 04-18-2011 12:32 PM

cool if you think so but i will agree to disagree. i always found him overrated. the bulldogs as a tag team fit both guys, but dynamite was the better worker by far. he flopped back and forth from WWF to WCW a couple times either cause he wasn't getting over or was a pain in the ass to work with.

when he went on his IC title run by then he was so roided out he was slower than before and even worse on the mic.

when he got paired with owen again he got carried by the better worker.

always liked the guy as a kid but can really only count 3 good matches in his career and all of those had a fella named Hart against him, unless his WCW stuff was great that i missed.

completely agree :y:

Aguakate 04-18-2011 12:36 PM

His matches with HBK were good, too.

seapig4 04-18-2011 12:50 PM

Owen
Hennig
DiBiase
Pillman
Rude
Hall
Piper
Bulldog
Arn Anderson

#1-norm-fan 04-18-2011 03:04 PM

I think Piper is #1 on the list for me. He's easily in my top 3 of all time. Should have shined in the world title picture. All around, I think he takes it with DiBiase and Hennig neck and neck behind him.

If it is restricted to WWF/E title runs like Tedious did, then Ricky Steamboat.

Emperor Smeat 04-18-2011 04:30 PM

Ted DiBiase might edge out Curt Henning a bit mostly due to Henning at least was able to have a few IC and US title reigns which is something the Million Dollar Man never had.

Henning was better athletically but DiBiase had a much better character which would have fit well as the rich snob champion in comparison to Hulkamania being seen as for the common man.
