I don't see how some people can cry over pro wrestling

Not a diss or anything, but here's an example

I don't know, maybe I have no emotions or something, but I don't recall wrestling ever bringing me to the point of tears of joy or sadness or whatever.

Maybe some people are just really passionate about their RASSLIN'

Even when a wrestler died, I haven't gotten to the point of being teary eyed. Maybe I'm just jaded, I don't know

For those of you that have teared up over something in RASSLIN', tell us your emotional story. SHARE YOUR PASSION. SPILL DA BEANS!

Dukelorange 04-18-2011 02:52 PM

Well, I can agree there. I remember when I was watching the PPV when Owen Hart died and I was speechless for a while....

Ruien 04-18-2011 02:53 PM

100% agree. Would get sad during the tribute episodes for a wrestler that died, but never to the point of tears.

Dukelorange 04-18-2011 02:55 PM

I wonder how many kids would not go to school on Tuesday if John Cena were to retire on Raw...

M-A-G 04-18-2011 02:55 PM

It's the same as a movie or a sport. If someone has a vested interest in what's going on, they're going to have a reaction. If we can laugh at a joke or get mad at a blown call, why can't we cry at something that's either joyful or disappointing?

I agree, but this is sports entertainment with writers and angles. I enjoy watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition because it's heart warming, but wrestling is wrestling. Unless you are related or know the person personally... :?:

Rammsteinmad 04-18-2011 03:00 PM

I've cried three times due to wrestling. However, I wasn't full out bowling it. One time was more a case of teary eyes (when Benoit won the title), and the other two were the Eddie and Owen tribute shows, but that was really just a tear or two when you saw other wrestlers crying. Couldn't help but well-up when I see that.

Edge's retirement speech were pretty sad and gut-wrenching, but not something to make me cry. The guy's had a dream career, and he had to retire sooner or later. It was expected, and it's not like he's dead or anything...

Movies have writers and sports have fixes and colorful personalities also. It's the same thing.

whiteyford 04-18-2011 03:05 PM

Suppose its like Michael Jackson or whoever dying, people develop an attachment even though they dont know them.

MoFo 04-18-2011 03:09 PM

Dunno, same as Naitch rly.

With the wrestling deaths its just something thats accepted now, you know at least one per year will kill themself or have a heart attack.

I was a bit sad when Umaga died though, was looking forward to him coming back in the future.

#1-norm-fan 04-18-2011 03:22 PM

It really has nothing at all to do with wrestling.

I can totally see someone crying when Edge was retiring, not because of a wrestling character but because it was an actual man in the ring giving a heart-felt speech and on the verge of tears as he was forced to give up what he loved and wanted to do since childhood. It's a human reaction towards the real human emotion of the situation. It was only about pro wrestling in that it happened to be the profession he was giving up. Completely irrelevant though.

The actors die in the movie, the wrestler dies in real life.

But depending on the person and how much they suspend their disbelief or invest in a person, the reaction can be justified. Yes, it can be silly when it comes to something that's not real but it's just how some people are.

Gertner 04-18-2011 05:59 PM

I 100% agree with Naitch. Reading that people cried over Eddie dying and shit is just pathetic.

Indifferent Clox 04-18-2011 06:16 PM

I teared up a little during the taker triple H promo when he said 'it's time'

#1-norm-fan 04-19-2011 01:36 PM

Hey he died having sex with Dawn Marie. I think we can all agree at least he went peacefully.

Lock Jaw 04-19-2011 03:14 PM

I can cry because IT'S STILL REAL TO ME, DAMMIT.

Well. Got that out of the way.

I can say that I have never actually cried over wrestling. I have momentarily teared up, but no leakage occurred.

Truth be told, I teared up the day after Wrestlemania 26, when Bret was doing his promo and the crowd started chanting "Owen! Owen!" and Bret revealed the shirt he was wearing. Maybe because I know what it's like to lose a brother, but still.

NormanSmiley 04-20-2011 07:39 PM

also i will shed a tear or two when bobby the the brain goes

Shisen Kopf 04-20-2011 08:54 PM

I remember watching over the edge 99 when Owen went ker-plunk and I was like damn and then i was hoping they would cancel the rest ofthe show so i could get my money back.

wow

NoRoolz 04-22-2011 06:54 PM

Crying over wrestling and crying over wrestler's dying/retiring is completely different.

I don't recall ever actually crying over a wrestler's retirement/death, I may have when Eddie died, not bawled but I may have had tears in my eyes, can't remember. And Edge's retirement speech did 'provoke emotion' from me.

Of course it did, we watched Edge week in week out for years and years. You've probably seen him live, you probably know about his real life stuff. You've seen him almost grow up. Wrestling isn't like a soap-opera or something, it combines that with sport hence the 'real' feel to it, the more personal feel. We all know that wrestling is 'different'. Edge's retirement is just one example, but he is an example of someone who provided lots of entertainment for people for years, he's been on our TV screens for YEARS, and done a lot for the wrestling industry, surely it's understandable to be upset?

And as for cases like Eddie Guerrero, on top of the reasons I just said, that's a fucking tragedy. People were crying when Michael Jackson, Lady Diana, even a few for Nate Dogg (MOUNT UP!). It's understandable brahhh.

Niggaz got choked up at Marley and Me.

dronepool 04-23-2011 09:46 AM

So far the most I ever did was say ".... damn, that sucks.".

JimmyMess 04-23-2011 10:28 AM

When peeps die I feel bad/sad

Jordan 04-23-2011 11:45 AM

I cried when Owen died. And when HBK lost his smile... and maybe when he lost to Austin at WM 14, because I knew the HBK age was over :( ... four or five years later, I was very happy

Stickman 04-23-2011 12:34 PM

Cried watching the salute to Owen Hart on Raw.
Teared up pretty good when HBK retired last year.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-23-2011 12:49 PM

Did nobody else shed a tear when Al Snow ate his dog?

voncouch 05-19-2011 05:34 PM

I tend to be pretty open emotionally, and movies get me all the time. I've never cried at a storyline, but there have been a few times where I've leaked a few tears.

- The ending of the Flair / HBK match at Mania (I'm sorry. I love you.). Maybe the most emotionally honest matches ever
- The next night on Flair's goodbye tribute. Especially when they brought out his family. Flair is such a blubbering bitch, and I was right there with him.
- Owen's tribute. I was watching Over The Edge, but I think I was too shocked for it to really hit me.
- Eddie's tribute. Especially watching Benoit completely lose his shit. Little did I know how important that would be later.
- I don't remember specifically losing it at Benoit's tribute, but knowing my track record, I probably did
- I got choked up at HBK's and Edge's retirement speeches, but I don't think I shed any tears

And yes, when we finally lose The Brain, I'm sure I'll be having one hell of a shitty day

MikeyMike 05-19-2011 05:55 PM

It coz it's still real to them damnit!

DLVH84 05-19-2011 08:55 PM

After ECW and WCW folded in 2001, I gave up on American wrestling, because there was really no alternatives to WWF, and focused more on other places like Japan, Canada, and Europe to see what they had to offer.

CSL 05-19-2011 09:31 PM

...what does that have to do with this thread?

Shadrick 05-19-2011 09:46 PM

Seriously DLV?

DLVH84 05-19-2011 10:03 PM

I also was stunned when Brian Pillman and Owen Hart died. Owen's death made me change my mind about becoming a pro wrestler.

Mr.Pewterschmidt 05-19-2011 11:49 PM

I had some friends at Over the edge when Owen died. They said the whole place thought his death was a stunt. And being from the KC area his death was local and national headlines non stop. It was pretty emotional times. I remember Jonathan Coachman was a sports reporter for the local ABC station, KMBC 9 news reporting on the accident.

James Steele 05-20-2011 03:53 AM

I'm seriously thinking that DLVH is just a sock that has gotten lazy and is now just copying and pasting shit from www.puroboners.com
