You know what I miss?

Managers/business acquaintances being suspended in tiny cages above the ring.

The last time I remember it happening was when Jerry Lawler was put in one in a match between Issac Yankem and Bret Hart on Raw. Lawler was afraid of heights and his nose began to bleed. WCW/NWA used to do it a lot too around the same era. Good times.

May as well get this out of the way now:

"Requisite Judy Bagwell-on-a-pole match joke."

Do you really miss this? Like on a scale of 1-10, how much do you miss this. Please be honest.

#1-norm-fan 05-11-2011 03:01 AM

I'm no good with 1-10 things. I always over or undershoot it.

If there were a match between one of the Bellas and Eve and the other Bella was put in a tiny cage above the ring as to prevent twin magic, it would probably automatically be my favorite match of the year. So... whatever number coincides with that. 10 I guess.

Scaffold matches should be a Monday Night staple.

Nicky Fives 05-11-2011 07:53 AM

Paul Bearer was in a cage during Undertaker/Mankind at Survivor Series 1996..... I also remember Chyna being in a cage during HHH/Owen at Unfrogiven 1998 after Wrestlemania 14

Razzamajazz 05-11-2011 12:09 PM

was watching clash of champions XX the other day and steve austin had paul dangerously in a cage when he faced ricky steamboat :-\

MoFo 05-11-2011 12:14 PM

TNA did it in a Robbie E v Jay Lethal match.

Dunno why.

Mr.Pewterschmidt 05-11-2011 10:20 PM

You miss that? Really? Do you also miss dial up internet?

#1-norm-fan 05-11-2011 10:24 PM

So you're saying the act of putting a manager in a cage above the ring is "out" and "uncool". Is this correct?

DLVH84 05-11-2011 11:24 PM

Jim Cornette twice...once in the air at the 1988 Great American Bash, and on the ground at Capital Combat 1990. And Teddy Long at SuperBrawl I.

#1-norm-fan 05-12-2011 06:25 AM

These are both facts

HBPunk 05-13-2011 12:31 AM

and yeah its an aged, lame, pointless gimmick

#1-norm-fan 05-13-2011 03:23 PM

LOL HBPUNKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!

whiteyford 05-13-2011 03:30 PM

A one off match that fitted in with the feud would be a novelty, as long as it didnt lead to another gimmick ppv.

#1-norm-fan 05-13-2011 03:33 PM

lol. A "manager/protege in a cage above the ring" themed PPV.

Dirk Ziggler 05-14-2011 03:52 PM

I miss the old, big blue fake looking cages they used in the old cage matches.

parkmania 05-14-2011 04:19 PM

I miss it too, but apparently the blue cage actually hurt like hell when a wrestler went into it. The current cage is actually safer for the participants because there's a LOT more give to it.

DLVH84 05-17-2011 12:37 AM

I can imagine it now...Michael Cole or Vickie Guerrero locked in a cage, high above the ring. I would love to see their reactions, when that happens.
