Hanso Amore 05-24-2011 11:58 AM

YES

Hanso Amore 05-24-2011 11:58 AM

Would love to see a smaller UFC or WEC event at HSBC in Buffalo.

Hanso Amore 05-24-2011 11:59 AM

Shit, get some bigs shows in Buffalo, boom the tourism economy.

GET IT DONE ELECTED OFFICIALS

The Mask 05-24-2011 12:46 PM

what is the capacity for MSG for shit like this

CSL 05-24-2011 12:48 PM

Just under/over 20k depending on the disicipline

Innovator 05-24-2011 12:56 PM

center stage concerts can seat about 20,000. UFC might be able to get a couple more in there.

Funky Fly 05-24-2011 12:59 PM

Good shit.

The Mask 05-24-2011 01:02 PM

20k? what was all the fuss? is it just a prestige thing or is it like 20k tickets at a billion dollars each

MSG is alot of prestige, plus high paying fans, and typically draw very "hardcore" crowds for any show. With such a huge customer base, they get the fans that are the most into the shows since the tickets are expensive and hard to get.

Its why WWE shows kill it in MSG.

Kris P Lettus 05-24-2011 02:07 PM

Also its def gonna help the sport to be in one of the biggest sports markets in the world..

Innovator 05-24-2011 02:29 PM

Plus whatever fan access they'll have there. Huge money making weekend for UFC.

Reavant 05-24-2011 02:50 PM

guys it didnt pass in new york yet... it only passed the senate

Kris P Lettus 05-24-2011 02:53 PM

It's actually gotten to this point before and didn't work out..

:(

Emperor Smeat 05-24-2011 03:06 PM

What was the main reason why New York never viewed MMA the same as boxing since both sports involve trying to knock out someone with a lot of the time involving blows to the head for MMA?

Reavant 05-24-2011 03:34 PM

People in the government have their hands in the pockets of boxing and not MMA

Hanso Amore 05-24-2011 04:35 PM

Listened to a Legislature today say that MMA is more VIOLENT than boxing, and that he will never allow it until the VIOLENCE is removed via Safeguards.

Not even sure what that means.

Reavant 05-24-2011 09:03 PM

it means NEVER GUNNA HAPPEN

He's probly calling for some protective paddings/helmets type of deal during fights and/or it to become probly to emphasize more on it being a point based system (removal of KO/SUB bonuses.)

Super V 05-24-2011 09:42 PM

Reavant's convinced me. :(

Next Big Thing 06-08-2011 04:55 PM

Can one jackass in the pocket of the unions really kill the whole damn bill!?

http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/06/0...ly-kills-2011/

Reavant 06-08-2011 05:12 PM

yes

IC Champion 06-09-2011 11:57 AM

Gotta love american politics.

Funky Fly 06-09-2011 01:40 PM

According to that article, he's sinking a bill that basically guarantees an estimated $16m in revenue because the UFC will host 2 events in NYC during the next calendar year upon the bill passing. Seems like pretty bad planning during economic hardship.

Reavant 06-09-2011 01:56 PM

yea but from what I hear, hes in the pockets of unions (teamsters i think, which means hes in the pockets of the mafia which also control much of boxing) so he and his associates wouldnt receive all that money coming in like they would if it were boxing.

basically he doesnt care if nyc gets the 16m.... since ufc is a legit company, the money would actually go to where it should rather than where he wants it to go.

Reavant 06-09-2011 01:58 PM

and boxing is the same in chicago too. Its run by the mafia.

IC Champion 06-09-2011 02:10 PM

Boxing is pretty much the same as it was 30 years ago, pretty ridiculous.

I'm still amazed at how theyre able to pull the revenue that they do...I'm sure I'd know if I paid more attention:-\

IC Champion 06-10-2011 12:21 PM

Becuase Blacks and Mexicans still box and watch boxing. Pretty much it right there.

Reavant 06-10-2011 02:50 PM

They only pull the revenue they do for the BIG fights. Like Mayweather and Manny. And that is really more of a social situation than a sporting event, because its nearly impossible as a normal fan to get a ticket to the event. Its only the super rich who can get them and they go more just to say they did or show their face than because they like boxing.

Outside of events with those two guys, Ultimate Fight Nights sell more than any other boxing fight for the most part.

I literally thought this. Who goes to a boxing match? I'd go to see manny, or may weather...but I'd go to see almost any UFC card

yea thats pretty much the most inaccurate and ignorant thing youve ever said.... well done

IC Champion 06-11-2011 07:57 PM

I was being sarcastic, but for the record it is partially true.
