Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Matt Hamill
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Stefan Struve vs. Travis Browne
Jorge Santiago vs. Brian Stann
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story

Stann continue to impress. Wonder if Dana will trot him out against the winner of Silva/Okami if GSP doesn't move up.

It fucking sucked.

Best part was Browne's sick KO on Struve.

Also Torres beat Johnson easily. Awful decision.

VSG 05-29-2011 08:15 AM

That last match should make both participants feel bad for days!

Krimzon7 05-29-2011 11:02 AM

Rampage came to fight Hamill was game...Rick story followed coture game plan to perfection. He displayed quite the chin. And Joe Rogan had the quote of the year. " we're seeing the difference between a true HW, and a guy fighting at HW because he likes food"

Krimzon7 05-29-2011 11:03 AM

stann/condit in an eliminator should be next

Rampage looked to finish, Hamill is just tough, and once he realized he wasn't gettin Rampage down became tentitive and looked to keep distance to keep from gettin knocked into next week.

Not really suprising, as Hamill isn't really known for being enteraining.

Condit fights at 170, do you even watch UFC?

IC Champion 05-29-2011 11:49 AM

Roy Nelson needs to diet, he could probably fight at 185 if he wanted to.

Stickman 05-29-2011 12:18 PM

anybody got links or vids?

Shaved Monkey 05-29-2011 12:43 PM

Got these. Haven't bothered to try any of them yet though.

It was partial sarcasm... There is literally nobody @ middleweight after Stann... Besides, weve got a whole TUF season to figure out whos next for AS

http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/05/2...s-performance/

Looks like Mir is in the same boat as Fitch in that there's nothing he can do to get on Dana's good side. Mir's performance wasn't that bad at all.

IC Champion 05-29-2011 02:21 PM

The problem with Mir is he got too big and bulky to compete with guys like Brock and Carwin. He's noticably slower and more sluggish, and it affects his performance really from a cardio perpective, so he has to pace himself so he doesn't gas in 5 minutes.

Next Big Thing 05-29-2011 02:42 PM

I agree and disagree. He actually was lighter in the second fight against Brock than he was in their first fight and got smashed. I think that's what prompted him to bulk up in the first place. At the same time he definitely looks sluggish at times.

In general though, it kind of pisses me off that Dana won't give a guy his due because he's in the dog house. Fitch has been a consistent top 3 welterweight for five years now and Dana refuses to give the guy his due and it seems he's doing the same to Mir now.

The Carwin/Nelson fight was supposed to be for the number one contender spot to fight the winner of Velasquez/ Dos Santos. How can Dana say Mir isn't in the running for a title shot after he beat one of those guys and the other is fighting to be number one contender in June? Especially if they're not going to merge the UFC and SF heavyweights.

Still looks like Hammill is a couple of inches taller.

Indeed, unless they measured him at the forehead

IC Champion 05-29-2011 04:24 PM

I wasn't saying he got big for that particular fight, but that he did it to keep up with them. He didn't start bulking up until around the Kongo fight.

And now he's apperently off the vegaterian diet, which is why he was sporting a bit of a waistline.

Reavant 05-29-2011 09:00 PM

dana went back and gave mir credit this morning on mmajunkie.com.... i thought mir looked really good and handles nelson better than jds did

Krimzon7 05-29-2011 09:18 PM

Mir's knees were very precise. It just tough to stop big country... Say what you will about his conditioning, and physique, but he can take a beating.

The Mask 05-30-2011 05:29 AM

struve nearly got killed. that was brutal, and awesome :'(

Krimzon7 05-30-2011 08:10 AM

Struve amazes me. if he can keep his lights on, he'll end up submitting his opponent. Every fight i go in expecting to see his block grt knocked off, he wins. Then this happens, and you wonder if he's getting away with his questionable chin benefits from sitting on 6 foot 7 inch shoulders.

Next Big Thing 05-30-2011 09:39 AM

I never bought into Struve. Christian Morecraft would have finished the dude if it wasn't for that sucker kick.

Krimzon7 05-30-2011 10:01 AM

After the Big Country fight, I thought JTTS... Then he co mains a ppv, gets a huge win over a can...but a high profile win nonetheless. And then this...his notorious slow starts need to be addressed. He either needs to get aggressive with his long jab, or he needs to drag a bitch to the ground and use them long limbs to submit his opponents.
