Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Looks interesting to me...big fan of the original movie, so this'll probably get a watch.

Damian Rey 06-02-2011 11:29 PM

Saw this a while ago, but I agree that it looks pretty intriguing. Hoping for the best, as I have yet to ever be remotely interested in watching Burton's remake.

Lock Jaw 06-03-2011 12:01 AM

Already made a thread about this awhile back, but whatever.

I'm looking forward to this movie. I too am a big fan of the various Apes movies.

Jura 06-03-2011 12:14 AM

Damn dirty apes.

My b, just saw the trailer on TV and had absolutely no clue how old it was.

Lock Jaw 06-03-2011 01:16 PM

New trailer:

Can't wait. Apes make everything better.

Sixx 06-03-2011 04:59 PM

The name of the movie is retarded.

Damian Rey 06-03-2011 10:27 PM

The title doesn't exactly role off the tongue, but I have some hope for the film itself. That new trailer looks slick.

Sixx 06-04-2011 12:37 AM

Poor Andy Serkis.

No director will ever let him show his face again.

Dunno. Every bit more I see of this movie makes me want to see it more.

McLegend 06-23-2011 01:24 PM

I find this movie very depressing.

Fignuts 06-23-2011 05:00 PM

This looks neat.

YOUR Hero 06-29-2011 10:05 AM

I hope they do a better job than the movie that came out a few years ago.

LuigiD 06-29-2011 11:09 AM

Huge mark for the classic movies. This caught my attention. The one from a few years ago was fucking terrible.

Lock Jaw 06-29-2011 12:48 PM

Dunno. Rewatched the one from a few years ago. It wasn't really THAT bad. I'm curious to know where it would have gone if it did not bomb.

LuigiD 06-29-2011 01:22 PM

It had some cool ideas. I just got off to a bad start with the film. I liked the part of investigating the origins of the species. There just seemed to be so much content that was off. Did like a lot of the designs tho.

Damian Rey 08-04-2011 10:52 PM

This is getting pretty good critical reception thus far, and Serkis is getting most of the praise for his role as Cesar. Can't wait to see it, now.

XL 08-05-2011 05:53 AM

Haven't really seen any of the PotA movies but this looks really good from the trailers.

RP 08-05-2011 07:26 AM

I don't want to see a bunch of monkeys getting abused cause I'll be pretty sad. So if that's in this movie, I'm probably out.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2011 01:01 PM

Do CGI monkeys count?

RP 08-05-2011 01:16 PM

Yes

loopydate 08-05-2011 06:29 PM

I don't doubt that movie will be entertaining, but...

We have guns and tanks and bombs. Yes, apes are strong. But they're not bullet-proof.

...or are they?

<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gMnG3gOqigE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

shoulda done that instead of a prequel

Damian Rey 08-05-2011 11:36 PM

The apes may me so large in number, and so much more brutaly strong than humans that they take over despite the army. Not to mention, considering the title, I highly doubt we see a full on takeover. Maybe just wherever James Franco's character resides in.

I enjoyed it, not a bad little movie at all.

SPOILER: show
The apes don't really take over. It's more about them becoming intelligent, joining together, etc. THere is a scene near the end where they battle humans, but it's really small scale. The "take over" is set up because of a virus that was developed ultimately ends up being lethal to humans and it spreads across the world. It's also the same virus that makes the apes smart.

Swiss Ultimate 08-14-2011 07:51 PM

So compared to Burton's film how good is this?
