Anyone try BJJ or any MMA classes?

Just out of curiosity, I went with a buddy who paid for me Muay Thai, wrestling, and BJJ classes

BJJ is abit much for me though, I smelled like musky steroid B.O. after rolling with the instructor. I had to bathe twice to remove the smell.

The workout is intense though, I thought I was in shape, but failed miserably. It's some complicated shit. I got a greater respect for THE PRACTITIONERS. I bruised a rib and was sore for days, worked out muscles I never knew I had. Plus I don't wanna cut my long hair

Muay Thai is more my thing though, I could get down with that.

FILL ME IN on your experiences. I'm guessing Reavant has been around the block

I have a greater respect for GSP now, even though he's still A HUGE PUSSY

Done it for better part of 13 years and wrestled before that. I love it. BJJ is great and being a wrestler/sub wrestler I enjoy it a lot. Muay Thai, is a ton of fun too but to be honest, back when I was actively competing I only did it to close distances and wrestle.

You don't wanna cut your long hair, and GSPs a huge pussy?

Samson_style, I cultivated it FOR YEARS. Plus I would never avoid ANDERSON SILVA if the moment ARISES!

I don't consider myself a hardcore fan of MMA or anything, just took those classes because it was for free and I WAS just killing some time before the big drinking session later on IN THE EVENING

Not sure how GSP would react to a Seagal front kick TO THE FACE

I take bjj and Thai classes. What started as an experiment to lose weight has become a passion. I love both equally, as each challenges me differently. At the moment, bjj is tougher, just because the learning curve is so damn steep. It can def discourage a weaker will. I've done a Thai tourney, now I'm gearing up for my first bjj tourney. Keep ya posted. I've been doing both for 16 months, although I go to jits considerably less...let's say ivevtrained bjj for four solid months.

I've done MMA training, Greco, BJJ, and Thai. I wrestled when I was young so I was pretty decent and knew how to maneuver myself so I didn't get killed. To be honest though at the time I just wasn't strong enough to hold my own with most of the guy, though I really enjoy it and will probably start up again.

I have long hair and it actually helps in jits...

harder to establish head control and harder to hang on my head. Easier to slip out of chokes.

Shouldn't you be learning correct escape technique, rather than relying on slippery hair? ;)

And stringy sweaty hair gets in opponents mouths, them to high hell and giving you a tactical advantage. Or is it just me?
