What was the moment that really got you into rasslin'?
I remember when I was a kid one Saturday night I couldn't sleep and I put on NBC and SNME was on and I still remember to this day it was a match between Big Bossman and Million Dollar Man and BBM was choking Dibiase with his belt. Must have been around September 1989. I remember the hype in Detroit for WM 3 but I was too young to know what the heck rasslin was really. Then i found out Dibiase told Virgil what to and I was hooked.

Answered this question before but:
- Pretty much always watched wrestling growing up, but on a casual "I can see it or not see it" basis. - Took a hiatus when I got scared after Papa Shango made Ultimate Warrior vomit. :shifty: - Interest in wrestling piqued up again with Summerslam 96 and Paul Bearer turning on Taker. - Moment I REALLY got into it was Wrestlemania 13, Bret vs Austin. From that point on, I have barely missed a show. |
Savage vs The Snake is the one thing that stands out from me watching as a child. I stopped watching around 95 though then got back into it after playing WCW / nWo revenge at a friends house. Such is the power of video games.

My first wrestling memory was watching Summerslam 1996 with my uncle on VHS tape, probably in late 1996 (making me 7)...... I drifted in and out until 2001......

8 years old, hearing Bobby Heenan say "he don't have a friend left" JUST as Warrior's music hits. It blew my mind

Was simply flipping around one Saturday and came across WCW Saturday Night and decided to stick with it. Heard about Nitro and then I started watching more and more.

I saw a betamax rent in some old video store and some customer played it and it showed Big Boss Man vs Mr. Perfect.. And the other thing is the whole Macho Man/Hogan Mega-Powers, Ultimate Warrior era that made me a REAL WWE fan... Same with classic matches of Royal Rumble 1991 and 1992. I even own 2 WWF magazines with Perfect and HBK on the front covers. Plus, an old Hogan poster with a heavyweight belt on his weight with the words, "HULK RULES!"
I even consider Owen Hart/Bret Hart/British bulldog feuds as classics too. Same with Bret's matches with HBK at Survivor Series and Mr. Perfect at Summerslam for the IC belt title. And I'm still a Stone Cold Crazy fan!!! http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3693869_n.jpg That Stone Cold shirt was waaayyy back almost like 12 yrs ago and I was only a teen.. And it still fits me until now despite the collar and the shirt is a bit bleached and faded. |
The Mega Powers vs. the MegaBucks.

Can't say for sure but I think the 91 Royal Rumble PPV is what really got me hooked.
|
I prefer the 92 Rumble when the title was up for grabs

Never had that one moment that got me hooked early into wrestling since I'd usually only watched it on Sundays at my grandparents house after CCD/religious class as a kid. Loved watching Hogan and the Bushwackers matches when they showed on tv though.
Some big moments that contributed would have been the HBK-Bret Hart feud over the title, the 1-2-3 Kid upset over Razor Ramon got me hooked on WWF Monday Night Raw, and Stone Cold's IC feud with The Rock involving Stone Cold getting tossed from a bridge. WCW hooking point was Hall's sudden arrival on Nitro since it was unexpected and out of nowhere compared to a normal debut. |
I was in Kindergarten and of course a big fan of cartoons with good vs evil stories like all kids. Ghostbusters, TMNT, etc. A friend of mine told me about this thing called wrestling where real life good guys and bad guys fight. This was around 1990 or so. I checked it out and remembered seeing good guys like Hulk Hogan fighting the evil guys like Ted Dibiase. I've been hooked ever since.
