Best & Worst #3: Authority Figure [RESULT POSTED]
Thought I'd change it up a little for number three, step away from the title belts and look at another staple of pro wrestling: The Authority Figure.
Gonna be bold and take Vince McMahon out of the running for this and keep it to Commissioners, General Managers, Presdients or whatever other terms have been used. So, to recap: VINCE McMAHON IS NOT SELECTABLE FOR THIS VOTE! ============================================== HALL OF FAME WWF/E Champion: Stone Cold Steve Austin United States Champion: Ravishing Rick Rude HALL OF SHAME WWF/E Champion: Jeff Hardy/Bob Backlund United States Champion: David Flair |
Best is Eric Bischoff
Worst is the concept of celebrity GMs. Just going to lump them all together. |
Yeah Bischoff is probably the best. Lot of good candidates but he just did it better than everyone.
Worst for me is easily Vince Russo. There's no doubt about it. There were plenty of bad ones like Sgt. Slaughter and Linda McMahon, but none of them were as visible as Russo and none of them affected the program like Russo did. His on air role destroyed countless Nitros and PPVs. It was awful. |
Best: Jack Tunney. He wasn't on TV all the time, but when he had to come in, shit was going down.
Worst: Anonymous RAW GM. It deflates the crowd and segment everytime it chimes in. |
If he would have done it longer, William Regal would be my choice for best. He was awesome. The Invasion was the worst thing that could've happened to that guy.

Best: Jack Tunney
Worst: Vince Russo |
Best: Gorilla Monsoon, didn't take Guff from anyone.
Worst: Stephanie McMahon. The guys would just steamroll over anything she said. |
Best: Eric Bischoff
Worst: Tiffany for ECW |
Best: Gorilla Monsoon
Worst: Adamle |
Best: Bischoff
Worst: Vickie as SD! consultant. |
Best: Gorilla
Worst: Adamle |
This one is pretty easy for me. I actually have a tie for best authority figure.
Best: Eric Bischoff/Stone Cold Steve Austin Worst: Anonymous GM (if that counts) If not, then I have to go with Jonathan Coachman. |
Best- Gorilla.
It was close between him and Tunney, but Gorilla may have been the first authority figure to get destroyed by a wrestler (Vader). However, people have made the valid point that when Tunney showed up, shit was going down. However, from a dramatic standpoint Gorilla stands tall as he was the first to take a few MAJOR lumps. Worst- Adamle He wasn't a face, wasn't a heel, said the wrong thing, as a persona he had no back bone, and was just bland. |
I'd say the best is the Anonymous RAW GM, but voting for yourself is no good.
Best: Eric Bischoff. HLA! HLA! HLA! Worst: Regal. If only because it was going so Awesome, but then got cut down because of the Wellness Violation. So it turned into the most disappointing thing ever. |
Best: EB
Worst: Tiffany in ECW doesn't count... So I vote for Russo... |
Best: Mick Foley
Worst: Mike Adamle |
Best - Eric Bischoff.
I would have gone with Heyman but Bischoff was great as the authority figure during his time in WCW and as Raw GM. His best work was when he joined NwO and revealed himself to be the actual authority figure of WCW since it turned NwO from a rebel group to a legit source of power. Worst - Russo. He was a bit more tolerable during those skits where he sat in a desk and gave out orders but got horrible in just a short period of time in WCW. Between having way too many shoots and the confusing decisions, it made watching late WCW years mostly horrible to watch anytime he got involved on screen. |
Best - Mr. Bischoff
Worst - Mr. Russo |

Best: Gorilla Monsoon
Never overexposed, but always made an impact with whatever decision he made. Throwing the bananas at Bobby Heenan when he was "fired" is an all-time great moment. Worst: Vince Russo Russo could only generate X-Pac heat as a heel authority figure. He was on TV all the time, and people got sick of him really fast. Especially since basically everything he touched once he got to WCW turned to shit. |
Best - Mick Foley as commish
Worst - Jim Cornette |

I did think that myself.

Best and worst OF THE BLACKS
Best: TEDDY  Worst: Coach |
Coach was amazing. Not initially, but by the end of his tenure.

Worst: Kurt Angle, GM of Smackdown |

Best - McMahon - Helmsley Alliance. I wanted to say Mick Foley, but he was taken, so I went with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. From an entertainment stand point, they were gold. As far as getting things done, they managed to pretty much do whatever they wanted.
Worst - James J. Dillon, during the nWo storyline. I'm a JJ Dillon fan, but he never struck me as being right for that roll. He always seemed like a buffoon, always yelling unnecessarily. Then the nWo would get away with anything they wanted to, and he never really did anything but suspend Nick Patrick and tell Bischoff to go away. |
Best - Well if we can't say Vince then I would have to say Shane for his part in the Corporation/Corporate Ministry as well as being owner of WCW.
Worst - Stone Cold Steve Austin as co-GM of Raw. |

Best is FOLEY and the worst is anyonmus RAW gm.
|
Best - Eric Bischoff
Worst - Tiffany |
Best - Vince McMahon
Worst - Armando Estrada |
Whatever happened to Estrada? I think he is still with the WWE but they never do anything with him. Wonder why? He was great when he was Umagas manager. But yeah he sucked as ECW GM.
|
He was released a while ago, but made a surprise return a few weeks ago on Superstars.
|
Really? when was that. I dont usuall watch Superstars. I was bummed when Umaga died. I liked him.
|
Best: Jack Tunney
Worst: Mike Adamle |
Best: Eric Bischoff
Worst: JJ Dillon |
Love J.J Dillon :(
