Anyway, do you reckon' WWE is going to sit down with CM Punk over this "homo" issue? Is GLAAD going to have a word with WWE? Any impacts you can think of from this altercation between Punk and Sally?

:)

The Naitch 07-04-2011 09:56 PM

LOL at your gif

He punched right through it

Shisen Kopf 07-04-2011 10:08 PM

I don't think too much will happen because of it. And that guy probably did look like a homo. Also, why are GLAAD always so pissy?

The Naitch 07-04-2011 10:11 PM

sensitive morons

loopydate 07-04-2011 10:30 PM

I doubt anything will come of it since Punk came out almost immediately and apologized, calling himself a "douche" and his comments "bullshit." He recognized that the comments were out of line and did everything he could to fix it himself before it could get worse.

Fucking fags need need to man up.....

BollywoodSingh 07-04-2011 10:54 PM

What did the fan do or say that makes him a douche?

I'm a CM Punk fan, but he always seemed a bit trashy to me so I wouldn't be surprised if he instigated it himself.

blake639raw 07-04-2011 11:16 PM

Big freakin deal. If the fan was really offended, they need to get over themselves. He was just working the fan obviously. Most fans would love that interaction with a WWE superstar. I thought it was understood that it wasn't to taken that seriously.

James Steele 07-05-2011 12:30 AM

CM Punk was doing his job , but he did go "too far" in today's environment and has issued an apology. I hope nothing more comes of this.

Now why on earth would he do that? :?::?::?:

Agreed. It's bad enough when fucking comedians- known "dirty" comedians at that- have to apologize about some of their material to those uptight assholes... pun unintentional, but funny.

Aguakate 07-05-2011 03:53 AM

...Everything nowadays has to be so politically correct...people will go crazy over anything...

RiX1024 07-05-2011 05:49 AM

it was only CM Punk playing a heel and doing his job, simple as that. gay slurs or not. he was being heckled so he had to sort him out.

Impeccable 07-05-2011 07:09 AM

Watching the footage, I think Punk sees halfway through that he might have overstepped the line. His demeanor changes, and he begins to say "this is what I do", and the fishing reel, hook in mouth action.

Hopefully, the fact that he knows he has gone too far and the fact that he has apologised will mean this goes no further.

Cm Punk is a heel..... he's supposed to make people hate him..... he did such a good job, he got media coverage on it..... he should be rewarded for a job well done, not criticized because of his methods.....

He should be criticized if his actions are in direct opposition to the position the WWE is claiming to take on the matter. Personally I don't care at all and I think he should say whatever he wants, but if the WWE is trying to buy good publicity with their anti bullying and anti gay slur stuff, then it should be pointed out if they're not actually doing that.

CM Punk should make an official apology through WWE in the middle of this Anti-WWE angle. :p

Not really. As Mr. JamesSteele said, he's in an anti-WWE angle. Hell, he was about to talk about how bullshit their anti-bullying shit is. In fact, it'd almost make sense if he did do the most to get the WWE into trouble.

My personal opinion is that words are words, and Punk was doing his job as a heel. He probably should choose wittier things to say than "You're a homo!" but he came out on his own an apologised for it -- which furthers my belief that he's actually signed a new contract with the WWE. :shifty:

HBPunk 07-05-2011 10:50 AM

What he said was homophobic and thats a fact. But i do think that everyone should just chill and let people say what they want. If someone is sexist, racist, homophobic etc. then we can make our mind up as smart people to ignore that person or just not acknowledge them. If we keep bringing up this stuff everytime someone makes a little quip then it just brings the matter to light and makes people even more sexist, racist etc than they were before. I say let everyone say what they like all the time and just say "fuck off" if you dont agree with it. No need to get so bent outta shape about it if it doesn't affect you personally. The world will never be a perfect place with people singing from the same sheet and people will always have something new to bitch and moan about. so lets just move on.

like that knobhead shisen kopf, i put him on ignore and now i cant see his racist and homophobic bullshit anymore. It doesn't affect me anymore so i dont give a shit. its up to him if he wants to continue being a tool but it aint my problem anymore

TNA&USA#1 07-05-2011 11:08 AM

I'm all about saying whatever you want too, but that's not the issue. This isn't the media attacking the WWE just to do it. The WWE put this burden on themselves when they voluntarily stated that they were going to speak out against bullying and gay bashing. No one forces them to do that. They did that on their own. And they did because they want to get good publicity. That's fair enough, most sports leagues have a similar campaign intent on building similar goodwill.

But if the WWE is going to hold themselves out and say look at us, we're speaking out against gay bashing, then they have opened themselves up to be criticized when one of their wrestlers is doing the very thing they said they're not doing anymore.

TNA&USA#1 07-05-2011 11:15 AM

The issue isn't with Punk as a person. He's a grown man who's allowed to say what he wants. The issue is if the WWE permits the use of that slur when they've stated that they do not.

Who says WWE permitted it to be used? Are you saying WWE told CM Punk to go out there and call somebody a homo? Highly unlikely.

No I'm not. I'm not suggesting anything like that. That's absurd. But if they ignore the comment and don't do anything to curb future use of those slurs, then all their talk about being against gay bashing is completely disingenuous.

TNA&USA#1 07-05-2011 11:41 AM

All I've seem from the WWE on the matter is that they said oh we don't condone that word, but he's an independent contractor so whaddyagonnado?

That's pretty disingenuous.

jskinnyg 07-05-2011 11:41 AM

I Thought it was hilarious and people should get over themselves... he was doing his job... Good Lord...

Again, completely missing the point. It doesn't matter what you or I think about it. This is about the WWE voluntarily stating that they're not gonna allow those words on their shows, and then one of their wrestlers uses one of those words.

The easiest solution to this would be for WWE to just drop the anti gay bashing campaign and let their wrestlers do whatever. But they can't say one thing and then do another.

kareru 07-05-2011 12:38 PM

aren't we all Homo sapiens?

if you know latin, CM Punk called him a "man"

loopydate 07-05-2011 12:43 PM

I can't believe this thread has gone on this long with no one making reference to the old caption running gag.

"No, YOU'RE a homo!"

no idea what point you are making at all, well you aren't making one are ya

BollywoodSingh 07-05-2011 01:39 PM

Whether or not you think that GLAAD or whoever are overreacting, CM Punk still should know better than to use the word "homo" while working for a global company like WWE. He was obviously wrong to use that word in 2011, doesn't matter if he's a heel.

Turn his skin pink/purple and he kind of looks like Sinestro from Green Lantern with that Stache and haircut.

St. Jimmy 07-05-2011 02:07 PM

YOU HAVE A VAGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINA.

What Would Kevin Do? 07-05-2011 02:18 PM

I think one of the fem groups should get up in arms because Punk used having a vagina as an insult. Clearly this is insensitive to women.

I doubt he even planned to use the the slur initially but because the whole promo/trash talking was done in an impromptu style, it slipped out but he managed to realize the mistake and tried to change the tone of the insults.

It doesn't excuse him saying the word but at the same time its not like he planned or been calling fans "homos" at every show.

I'd assume wrestlers are given a lot more creative freedom with their promos on house shows than during tv episodes that have larger or live crowds.
