I finally saw Sonic Youth this past Friday and can now say rather definitively that Thurston Moore is the best guitarist I've ever seen live.

Haven't seen any good guitarists live, but a friend has seen John Mayer live, and from watching countless live videos, he is a phenomenal guitarist. His playing speaks for itself, IMO.

Noel Gallagher, that Indian dude from Sum 41 were decent and Valensi from the Strokes.

I really liked Russell Lissack from Bloc Party. Love that gig.

I don't really know shit about what makes a guitarist that good. But I was impressed by Johnny Marr.
